Yes, the frontpanel is still missing :-)

I can totally recommend this kind of wooden frame for your builds, because it adds lots of stability.

But it seems to me you have to sand it yet

I see some saw trace in the wood that can ruin the final effect of your work.

Am now afraid of doing the FPE/Schaeffer order, one little mistake and all is lost :-) - any other ideas of doing a proper panel? Or should I design it in Frontpanel Designer, print it on paper 1:1 and cut that with a x-acto knife to verify?

I don´t need text/engraving, because I know all buttons blind by now :-) The panel should be 3mm aluminium nature, looks great on the black wood.

Print it on paper before sending off your job to Schaeffer! Also, that way you can easily see if your button caps or knobs are spaced too narrow/wide apart, knobs oscuring your legend and other easy mistakes whistle.png

For prototyping, I use plywood and paper prints... more sturdy, and you can testmount for actual use until the panel hits the door

What I am asking is, if I have a rectangular cutout in Frontpanel Designer and print it on paper and cut it on the "line", will there be any differences in the final aluminum frontpanel, e.g. because of the cutting width of the tool?

I didn't notice any deviation, BUT...

specification is always subject to tolerances.

I recently did a SEQ case (same as Altitude's) at FPE. I printed it 1:1 and checked it and it all lined up perfectly. For some new components on the rear panel that I did not have "known good" holes for, I printed them 1:1 and used that as a template to cut out holes in cardboard with an x-acto to test the fit. When the case arrived all the holes were perfect.

No matter what, you'll worry about if something is messed up or not (I sure did!), but if you check everything carefully you should be OK. :-)
