  1. Hey, this looks great, I've been migrated to Linux for a good while, but haven't tried playing any SIDs in a good while on my Sammich. It's wonderful to know this exists and even still works :)
  2. Is it possible to run the latest version of Vice with the modified hardsid.dll library and a sammichSID? I have the old modified build somebody posted here years ago, and it works with at least some programs, but it would be great to have the support for the latest Vice version. I see it has now native HardSID support, but it seems it uses internal drivers so the .dll can't be replaced. Or did somebody have success with this?
  3. (Ok, I found it, I didn't remember that the icon goes to the status bar, I have it hidden so didn't notice it)
  4. To reply to an old topic: https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=74851 allows to rip and remix SID files on a C64, also works on Vice, didn't yet get it to work with sammichSID even though Vice should have hardsid support.
  5. Hi, I am running all the latest stuff on a sammichSID... On a LFO the sync is enabled, still the delay has no effect on the function of the LFO, it starts at full strength as soon as I press a key. The phase option works, as well as everything else. Am I missing something here?
  6. Hi, is the 0.4 alpha the latest version of the hardsid.dll?

  7. So I guess the MIDIbox SID has it´s own implementation of the waveform control bits, so this guide to SID sound programming has no relevancy? http://csdb.dk/release/?id=57722 Since in the manual the setup explained is more simple. So I can´t access those random number generator reset bits, etc?
  8. Hi, I suggest a few manual clarifications for the wavetable editor: Now it took me a while to realize, that there are both absolute and relative values and that they are set by the same parameter, only the "+" prefix tells the difference. Also, it took me some time to realize, that all wavetables share the same 128 step area, altough this was basically mentioned in the manual...
  9. Hmm i got one 176 and one 180kb.
  10. Hi, is the DLL at: http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=hardsid.dll&s[]=net the latest version? Since on some thread also this is linked: http://midibox.org/forums/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=9560 Which is the latter? Anyway, I'm running Win7 64, and it does not work with Acid64 player (it starts to play, the volume bars are live, but my sammichSID does not react), Sidplayw (nov 7 2002 version), or the new Sidplay26w. I can play SID files back only with the asid_xp software. But it plays some files wrong (like Barbarian crawls at a really slow pace, and the speed function does not change things), and also shuts down improperly leaving the tune playing, and when I kill the process, sammichSID hangs and needs a restart. So is there a Win64 SID player for the midibox right now? My MIDI interface is the one in TC Electronic Impact Twin. The device is quite high spec, but maybe the interface is just too slow? (then again, I suspect there's not that much happening with the Barbarian tune what with not much ostinato stuff of strange tweaks)
  11. Edit: I found the 2.4 version on this forum hacked for Vice. Seems to work, altough I just tried with one d64 (Krakout) I'm reviving this: how should you configure the hardsid.dll nILS created for VICE? I copied it to the root directory, and enabled the SidEngine=3 option in the INI file (it can't be changed from the menus inside the program, so is the feature dropped maybe?) Still VICE uses the software emulation. Also, did you do any work on the dll, it´s a few years already ;) ?
  12. Hi, I botched my screen protector plate, does anybody have spares? I have neither clear plastic or a small table saw at hand now... Shipping would be to Finland.
  13. Hi, I used the sammichSID somewhat on the new album, right on the first track it launches into a double tracked sync lead in the beginning, and the second track is largely from the Sammich. On other tracks there might be bits, but I forget... https://aavepyora.bandcamp.com/album/hengen-aurinko
  14. Ah yes of course, I was stupid again... If the tuning is the same, it does not matter if the oscillators are in sync or not since they are DCOs... It was just confusing me when doing a coarse tune change, and going back to the original value resulted in different (static) phases.
  15. I have a problem getting the oscillators running freely. I have PHS in the lead engine set to 00 on all oscillators, but they still always start with fixed phase. What might be the issue? Eg. I have the init sound, and I enable all oscillators, the sound triggered is always the same, but as soon as I change for example one oscillators tuning, the phases change, and even if I set back to the original settings, the phases have changed. I have 043 in use. Also, has anybody an insight about how the global Phase knob in the CTRLR panel actually affects the oscillator phases?
  16. OK, I was using 2_040 before, and finally now have some time, I quit my job and moved to the countryside to a small cabin :D So today I finally plugged everything in again and took a look at this. I just uploaded 043 and it seems that the encoder works fine, no inertia though, it always scans at a predefined speed. But better than jumping around  Great, I'm off to write some tracks!
  17. Sometimes it works better, most of the time barely at all. And, please, I know my inertia when I see it, this is just plain random behaviour. Good idea about the soldering, maybe the uni took a hit in the mail.
  18. The encoder does not play nicely... Sometimes it works nearly fine, sometimes it just does not do anything, or jumps randomly around. So it seems the encoder is a 24 steps rotary encoder, should any brand work, if I'll change it? One local shop has 20 step pulse-encoders, does this sound close enough? I guess it would just work a little slower? Sorry I'm one of those evil second hand users, who bough an unit somebody else made, and my electronics skills are quite weak.
  19. Are there some other advantages over MIDI Yoke other than 64-bit support? I'm running still XP and hate learning new software doing the same thing than old ones :D
  20. I can do that, but since this same problem happens with all presets too, I don't think it can be that... Also, at least from the CTRLR interface, edits always affect both chips, and it seems to be so from the front panel edits too. edit: No, wasn't that, tried now with A016 preset. Filter type is L-- and goes to 123. I think I will now try flipping the SIDs, just to see for sure that it's some control problem... Edit: No, slotwise chip-flip: same result, R channel makes no sound.
  21. My Sammich with the latest firmware plays only the notes for the L chip in multi mode. Otherwise both chips work fine, but I tried all different options in the multi mode, no luck. If I set the MULTI mode to L- I have 3 voices OK, in -R silence, in LR the sounds from the L chip are triggered, then I get 3 silent notes from R chip (the leds light up though), and then again 3 good ones from L... And so on. What might be the cause of this? Since in other modes both chips make sound, it has to be some kind of other problem? I didn't build my own Sammich, I bought it from somebody from Australia thru Muffwigglers modular forum... Anyway just for fun while testing this, I made a short loop when I finally with the sammichSID have the C64-like ability to sync and rm between different melodylines etc... (like, check out the Thundercats theme for example, sweeet stuff there, that's very very hard to do on VSTs unless you want to automate individual oscillators by hand to play different melodies). https://www.dropbox.com/sh/qixxy3qcmwpwp28/QK4_oCu4tS The SYNC octave bass and PWM lead are the Sammich, the liquid sub bass is U-He Ace with a TAL Phaser thrown after it... Heh, one day I will write a tune out of this :D But now is a lazy sunday and I've forbidden serious work such as this from myself ;D
  22. I'm too lazy to open up the case once again, I'm not sure what encoder my device has. But I'm pretty sure it's built from a complete kit, so whatever those were using? OTOH I have been only recently taken this out for a test drive, and it seems today after some tweaking it's better (in the past it was really unusable), so maybe it's just a problem with non-use from the previous user and me? I will see about this...
  23. I'm having exactly the same issue with my sammichSID I bought from somebody in Australia already built. If I turn the encoder REALLY carefully, it proceeds 1 at a time to either direction, but the faster I move it, the more it just jumps randomly to diferent directions, sometimes in increments of several dozens or even hundreds. So any idea for a replacement encoder for a sammichSID? And what about the firmware? Now I have the latest (just downloaded it a few days ago) sammichSID firmware uploaded.
  24. Oh, I found a bit clunky way to use CTRLR with sequencers: Install MIDIox and MIDIyoke, then send output from CTRLR to "midiyoke 1" for example. Then send MIDI data from the sequencer to "midiyoke 2" for example, and then route both midiyoke 1 and 2 to your MIDI interface output port that is connected to the sammichSID MIDI input port. Confused? In short: just meld CTRLR and DAW MIDI data with Midiox. This is grrreeeeeat!!!
  25. Yes me too can't figure how to send notes to sammichSID at the same time with the editor. Also it crashes if I remove the program from the DAW or close the standalone panel. Same thing if I close the panel in the CTRLR window. In the menu boxes on the left a black text "modulat..." is written on top of the SID1, LEAD and OSC menu items, and if I leave that panel page, I can't return to that page again. Do I understand correctly, that on the sammichSID the chips can't be individually programmed, even with the "link stereo" unselected? Otherwise seems to work, just tried it for the first time now, there was some strange hiccups when I was now running it, but a few minutes go everything seemed really nice. Looks like a very useful tool, especially now with my Sammich encoder quite broken, and I am unable to find anybody who can send me a replacement :P
