  1. 4x4 is interesting as a concept, but probably less useful than 1x8, as for the LCDs : Why not just use a 2x16 LCD placed in the middle of every four encoders? It will probably overlap some of the LEDs a bit, but there would be plenty of space+they are a lot cheaper to use  EDIT: To the guy that lost his boards - I don't think anyone stole them, I'm guessing that your package was nudged around a bit in transit, which cause the edge of the boards to start cutting a hole in the envelope.. This happened to mine as well, but the hole wasn't much bigger than 2-3cm, so nothing fell out (thankfully) :/
  2. Well, I'd guesstimate that it was supposed to say "detented and various non-detented types are supported" :)
  3. Arrived in perfect condition in Denmark yesterday  Thanks a bunch, they're beautiful <3 By the way, what is the recommended brightness in mcd of the leds? Perticularly diffused vs non-diffused?
  4. You are only on the list if you payed extra for a tracking number ;)
  5. So it's possible to press the button, twiddle a knob on your synth, and have it automap to _one_ encoder? (I think I'm in love if this is true) So you'd need n buttons, where n is the number of encoders you want to program this way ? Wouldn't it be easier to make the button go into "automap to next "twiddled" knob mode"? Or am I completely mistaken ? =/
  6. AWESOME! <3 Now, I got this information while researching the Miniaks apparently really zany Midi/NRPN spec, so it's not guaranteed information (Hence the quotes around the entire block) :/ There generally seems to be a cr*pload of "undocumented/meh, let's just do it our way" going on with a lot of things that are Midi related.. Blarhg.. :(
  7. Awesome ! :) Will it be possible to send "negative" values via nrpn ? (Essentially just Alesis/Akai f*cking with anyone trying to make a editor for their products) +changing the type of data sent? Apparently Alesis/Akai have managed to deviate quite a bit from the standard, not limited to : "MIDI insists MSB is sent for 7 bit NRPNs Alesis seemed to assume LSB is sent. As a programmer, this makes sense ... BUT it isnt the midi standard. MIDI insists NRPNs are unsigned 14bit Alas, again Alesis insisted on using a "signed" 14bit therefore value ranges like [-100, 100] are really [16284, 16383] [0, 100] most hardware interpets this as [0,100] ... [16284, 16383] Which results in either a large gap in the middle (not very practical) or, since most will not over/underflow to only choice is to use 2 controls, one for the -ve range, one for the +ve range."
  8. Sysex+NRPN (incl nonstandard) support ? :)
  9. Someone stateside would have to ship a giant box to one person, or we would all be hit by import fees, I don't know anything about the Swedish system, but in Denmark we're hit for 150DKK if our total order (incl shipping) is more than 80DKK & from outside of Europe (150DKK ~26USD ? ) Which is why I'm in favor of a "local"/european bulk order for encoders, but I know I don't have enough credit on this forum to be the one to start it (or enough credit in real life -.-), +shipping from Denmark is just as bad as shipping from Sweden :(
  10. Everything arrived perfectly fine this morning.. Thanks Tk. ! :)
  11. Yeah, you could just use panel mount midi connectors though (if you are going to have a front plate done anyway) :) Since my plan is to try to squeegee two 5x5x5's into one 1U rack, I'm probably going to buy one or two cheap 19' rack front blinds & some form of empty 1U rack case/drawer/something, drill some holes in the back (not going to be looking at it anyway) & wire 9 of the pairs to the back with panel mounts, and one pair to the front(+usb+status led).. Might even get a decent front panel made at some point. +1 for the latency stress tests using USB hubs.. Would be interesting to add a USB 3.0 super speed hub to the mix, to see if it performs any better.. Sadly those things are far too expensive at the moment :(
  12. Sorry for my terrible paint skills, but meh.. This was my idea :
  13. The idea was that they can then be "stacked"/overlap slightly, so that two pcb's could fit in a 1U rack :)
  14. ...Hmmm Anyhow, not trying to start a "who's right thread", it doesn't really matter, you could just panel mount them instead of using pcb mounts ^^
  15. No, he said panelmount connectors, so the connections on the inside would be different, but you would just align the second set of connectors to the first one (they would be wired up anyway) ? Even if you use pcb/boardmount connectors, would it be so bad to have ~4x in/out on the back that are upside down?
