I sometimes peek at the midibox site (I am mostly on vogons forum these days), but now it is really time to post again ... :-) I proudly announce my latest project, a successor for X1 : X2 !! - Small form factor midi PCB : 65mm x 38mm size - Waveblaster compatible connector for use on sound cards and DIY projects. - Dream 5000 series synth chip with 81 voices polyphony - Super low latency <1ms - 64mbyte flash for soundbank data - USB MIDI in (Class compliant midi device, works on Windows XP without drivers) - stereo line out using a high quality 24 bit DAC (3.5mm stereo connector) - Preloaded with a high quality 16 megabyte Dream General MIDI soundbank (http://dream.fr/pdf/Serie5000/Soundbanks/GMBK5X128.pdf) Running very well already with old games, still working on the software to add some features allowing to tweak more. I expect to have a batch of these ready by december :-) I should make some recordings soon. What do you think ?

Hi, my plug-on board dreamblaster X1 is finished now. Same pinout as the smaller S1 some use in their midibox, but much more features and larger soundbank. I sent one to Phil in Australia (3 weeks underway in post !), and now he finally made I nice review. Even though it is not a midibox, and closed source (requires NDA to buy their dev kit), I proudly want to show it to you here. Hi pay_c, what you could make quite easily is a Excel2ini converter. With TK's mk_syx.pl, you can convert this INI file to sysex. Using vmidibox, you can save to INI file. You can of course also load and save sysex in vmidibox. This means you can convert freely between sysex and INI format using both vmidibox and mk_syx.pl . The INI format looks like this (extract): ... [POTS] # Pot Row 1 1 = B0 5B [00-7F] "Reverb # 1" DEC| 2 = B1 5B [00-7F] "Reverb # 2" DEC| 3 = B2 5B [00-7F] "Reverb # 3" DEC| ... I think you could import/export this in excel in some way. On the other hand a good text editor on the INI file could avoid using excel ? Drumwide, ah the LC is an application for the MIOS platform. I have no plans to make a virtual midibox editor for this platform at the moment. SEB, You can do this through midi Yoke without any problem as this is a multiclient driver. I used to make internal midi connections on my PC with Hubi's Midi Loopback Device, but I'm sure you could use Midi-ox or so in between as well. Maybe you can connect even directly to your souncard's driver with both programs if this driver is multiclient. Regards, Serge

Hi, normally, yes a send speed of 200 should be OK normally. I never used the serial port drivers with vmidbox. Maybe you could try a much lower speed (50 ?) once to see if it is not a serial driver timing issue ? Okay, this is something I can fix for the next version. The receive functionality uses a timer that runs until the data is received. I guess I should stop that timer if one exits the program before having received the data :-[ ... Could you try the following ? try sysex update using midiox as described in http://ucapps.de/howtosysex.html or install midiyoke drivers and connect via these drivers. This way you could monitor the traffic between vmidibox and your hw box. This way you could log with mixiox all that passes to and from your box. You should be able to see the sysex stream passin... Hi, With firmware version 1.00 you should use vmbox 1.00f. it should work as you describe. Make sure the sysex device ID in vmidibox matches the device ID setting in your midibox64 LCD menu. When you click receive, vmidibox should request and receive a sysex dump from your box. This also only works if the device ID's match. (this feature was created to use multiple midiboxes on the same midi interface) vmidibox version 1.01a matches firmware version 1.01 which can now be downloaded from T's site. Good luck, Serge
