  2. FC, I seem to remember having a few issues like this on mine. Double check all the solder points on the IC's along the bottom of the main board. Justin
  3. If you do end up going the MBSid route, I have a couple of empty SID boards and empty core boards sitting around after I upgraded to a MB6582. I'll let them go cheap.
  4. Hi Rob, Welcome. First question: are you building the MidiBox SID from scratch, or are you building the MB6582 variant? I personally recommend building the MB6582. You can purchase the main board PCB and control PCB from modularaddict.com, and it makes everything very easy. If you look at http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=wilba_mb_6582_parts_list, you can get the list of parts. A while back, I edited a bunch of the wiki pages to add Mouser numbers, but I don't have access to the Wilba pages. I can probably pull up my Mouser order from a year ago and post that if you would like. Justin
  5. Hi, Hopefully someone will chime in if I am wrong, but I don't think there is a way to send different notes to different channels within a single track. A couple of possible ideas would be a MidiBox NG (another STM core with MidiIO) that takes the drum track input, processes it, and then sends out different channels, or some kind of software solution that does it on your PC. (Or another MBSeq dedicated just to the Digikat! :)

  7. You can post feature requests to this topic: http://midibox.org/forums/topic/13137-midibox-seq-v4-release-feedback/ TK checks that regularly, and often comments on ideas. I know there was mention of a scale editor in the past, but I think the idea was to be able to chose chromatic scale, not micro-tonal.

  9. Older Midiboxes used the 18f452, but that still had twice the program memory that your chips have.

  12. As always, it is good to test one thing at a time, so just hook up one LCD and see what you get. If you have the MBSeq loaded, you will get text on one LCD and an animated logo on the other when it boots. Once you get one LCD working on both ports, then add the second one. This will make it easier to isolate problems. Also - check the contrast and backlight trimpots, see if they are functioning properly.
  13. I got my acrylic panel cut at Ponoko for around $25 USD, because they had a $20 off deal for first time users. I also machined my panel for my MBSid on my hobby wood CNC machine. It turned out great. I just used decals for the labeling though.
  14. Here is the thread to check out: From what I gather, the front panel is quite different, so you would need a new PCB and panel to upgrade. Of course you would also need all of the components that go on the board, and those are a big part of the expense (buttons, button caps, and encoders). As someone who just finished a SeqV4, I am contemplating selling it so that I can have the fun of making another one.
  15. Thanks guys, I ended up going with a wired meanwell 5V supply. I pull the + and - 12v for the AOUT from my eurorack powersupply. Everything is working great now. I used to get some pulsing of the backlight LEDs on the LCDs, but now it is rock solid. Justin
  16. It would be great to be able to plug a keyboard into MIOS devices. Labeling tracks, sessions, etc with an alpha keyboard would sweet.
  17. I can't help out too much, but maybe the way Wilba's Main Board for the SID is built would work here? Add a 2x4 pin header and wire the midi in from each core to one side and the other side to the midi in socket. Normally the jumper is on the first pins to communicate with core #1. Then move the jumper to switch which core you are "talking" to? Just an idea.

  20. I think it still functions ok without all the LEDs. While I was waiting for my panel to arrive, I just soldered one R/G led for step one and the BPM LED to test it, and it worked fine with just those connected.
  21. Just an idea, take out one IC at a time and see at what point the LCDs stop going crazy. Maybe that will help you find the problem area? Justin
  22. I bet all you need to do is put a piece of electrical tape on the LCD where it could touch the buttons above or below the LCD. I remember having weird stuff happen before I did that. Justin
  23. Have you tried using the CV calibration page? When I have an issue, it is usually because I forgot to connect the +/- from my euro rack to the south. Also, a few times when I haven't gotten CV, a reboot fixed it. Probably not your issue, but just in case.
