  1. A friend of mine needs advice about sliders, but he can't get himself registered onto this forum for some reason... (incorrect explorer settings?) So I've posted the question here... and this was my response So has anyone got some advice? (thanks)
  2. Hey Roger, I wasn't aware of that! I finished Tafe last year, so I don't use the fairlight anymore... I never figured it out anyway, I ended up doing all my assessments on Protools. Sephult, you're probably right... but It'll be a while before I read all the sid stuff or get round to building a sid module (or two)

    The Prophet

Now that's just too cool 8) (Yes, you're a cool kid if you still have a C64!) ;D tew303... thats a cool name!
  4. Another year goes by, and I haven't gotten any further towards building one!!! Well here is a circuit I found http://www.uni-bonn.de/~uzs159/ms20.html and I think this is the PCB for it, as well as some mods... http://www.analog-synth.de/synths/mod2/ms20filter/ms20filter.htm Oh well wait another year to see if I've bought the components yet!
  5. Yes, you must use linear pots. These are very widely available. On my midibox LC I have used panasonic motorised faders. On my midibox 64, I used 10K faders from Farnell, but I' not sure about the quality of these, as I never solved the jitter problem 100% (Yet to rewire the pots with heavier wire, and replace the pots that I damaged)

  8. The PG200 has a funny connector that it links to the jx3p/MKS30 with. I've also heard that it isn't possible to use the PG200 at the same time as midi, though I'm not sure how true that is. Does anyone know if it is possible to make your own ROM chips to get the velocity upgrade? Actually, maybe it is possible to get them direct from roland.... I've been thinking of buying a jx3p...

  10. If you are just trying to get an LCD screen for cheap, why not look for a second hand item? Then you will have more time for other diy projects ;)
  11. The easiest way for more current... http://repairfaq.ece.drexel.edu/sam/samschem.htm#schslp2 more discussion of current-boosting, and another diagram... http://wwwd.national.com/national/PowerMB.nsf/0/f17a1bcbe56e184288256ecc0065d4f8?OpenDocument good luck

Many Thanks, Thorsten, thanks Axel too! ...I can move 5 faders at a time... (ran out of fingers... I have pushbuttons for psuedo touch sensors...) Maybe I misunderstood or are you talking about overwriting automation?
  13. Hi there, Thorsten, Thanks for the response. Â I added the code, but I get this ??? BTW, I am using touch mode 2 already... not sure if that makes a difference... ?
  14. Yeah, Thorsten thought of it first! I'm not sure if it is neccessary, but adding caps to the 7809 to smooth/filter the power might be a good idea (someone smart to confirm?) Just like the 4 caps around the 7805 in the MBHP core module circuit.
  15. Nice! So are you an Industrial Designer then? ;)
  16. Just wondering if this is a common problem... upon switching banks of faders, sometimes a random fader will not move to the appropriate position, but the others will. MIOS 1.7 MBLC 1.4 1.6A 12V PSU... maybe not enough current for (2x) 40x2 LED backlit displays, and 8 panasonic MF's? Could that be the problem? (though the problem happens even when only 3 faders are moving at once) BTW, I've tried Soundblaster Vibra 128 midiport, as well as midisport 2x2 (yeah I know the midisport is not good) Anyway, at least with touch mode 2 the faders won't send any dodgy data while they are in the wrong spot! ...Thanks, from Steve
  17. You could put the 15v through a 7809 first, and then into the 7805
  18. Both. But I may pick it up again early next year...
  19. Dan, that is amazing... Very neat, well thought out. The round buttons at the bottom of each fader... (like the ones we were talking about on that other thread ;)) are they a 'declutch' button for panasonic faders (no touch?) I notice the CRT monitor over in the corner... is that because you don't really need it now, with all those LCD displays? ;D much respect dude! ...Steve
  20. Reguarding the diode placement, yes, it is confusing if you haven't got a picture, as there are so many ways that they can physically fit (more than just getting the direction right) but you can just make it out from the pics on Thorsten's MF page. I think I have seen better pics on this forum somewhere, though.
  21. Hey d2k, interesting idea... I dunno if it is easier than drilling extra holes tho... The Led's would have to be quite close to transfer the coloured light efficiently. were you inspired by Axel's first two LC's? I wonder what the feel would be like. Where did you get the feet from? Bye, from Steve
