  1. Now that I think of it, the Novation X-Station is powered and does midi via USB. -Dave
  2. USB has 5VDC and data all in the same cable. Seems to work fine for that. -Dave
  3. Man those boards are sweet! Makes me wish I had waited to order my core and SID boards. Good job smash! -Dave
  4. I wasn't using your design but a design of my own. Just sharing a lesson I learned the hard way. ;D
  5. Learned a lesson the hard way: Pay attention to the ratings on your components. I was building a PSU for my SID and used a 16V 1000uF cap, unfortunately I didn't read the rating properly and hooked it up to 24V. Around 20 seconds later it went BOOM. Smoke and bits of capacitor everywhere….Lesson learned! ;D -Dave
  6. Is this taking into account the voltage drop across the rectifier?
  7. Well I finnally see the light at the end of hte tunnel. After finishing up college and getting settled in my new job I finally have some time to do some projects. Recently I bought a Korg DW-8000 and I really like it, but it's a pain to edit sounds with just one slider. I was looking at a website (http://www.pallium.com/bryan/dw8000.php#Freak) and saw that it was posible to edit params via a midi controller, but they were special syex messages. My question is, given the right set of messages, would it be posible to make a control surface that would send these syex messages, based on midibox hardware? Thanks, Dave Panseri
  8. I got my scope (Hitachi V-650F 60MHz) on ebay for around $75. It's a little big compared to the newer digital ones they have at my university but that's just cause it's older and fully analog. Overall I am very pleased with it. Both channels work perfectly and. all the dials and switches work perfectly. I also found a modular unit with two 24V adjustable power supplies, funciton generator, and a multi-meter for around $70ish. I'd suggest searching around on ebay. You might find a gem. ~Dave
  9. Man, that looks like a neat little project to work on after I'm finished w/ the project I'm working on for school. Question: Where did you get the neat little enclosure for the transistor tester?
  10. The other day I was messing around w/ my MBSID trying to make some new patches when all of the sudden it just kind of died on me. I have since removed the core and checked to see if it was sending any midi messages and it isn't. Any suggestions? ~Dave
  11. oooo i just remembered that I have one that plays the "secret sound" from The Legend of Zelda. You know the sound that you hear when you find a secret item or something in a dungeon. What format do you want it cause right now I have it saved in JSynthLib. ~Dave
  12. How would I go about doing that? Rotary Encoders? I was thinking of adding a phaser from tonepad too so that'd be pretty sweet. ~Dave
  13. I just found that myself the other day. They've got alot of cool projects on that page. I may build one of the phaser pedals on there and maybe make a distrotion box for my guitar. Thanks for the partslist it'll be a big help. ROCK \m/
  14. what I think I'm gonna do is add a switch to turn the noise gate on and off. That way i can go either way. Since I plan on using my SID with my band at live shows, it might be good to be able to get rid of the hum at the flick of a switch, and if I want it just switch it right back.
