  1. I've ordered a second sid kit so i'll double check the values between them... (and if i'll get them working i'll have a stereo sid ;) )
  2. can anyone make a test on his pins? how much should be the voltage on the quartz when checked in DC? 0? Is it righ that C1 and C2 are 4,6 v? it seems strange to me
  3. hi, i've built a midibox sid with a 6581 chip on it, minimal configuration... the interconnection test works well and the software installation works well too, but i still don't hear any sound. At least.. i hear a low buzz, which changes a bit if i cange the used patch with jsynthlib.. does anyone know were the problem can be? :\ I have installed first of all the bootloader, then mios and then the sid application (sid6581 without cs). yesterday i changed the orientation of the quartz because before it was placed in the wrong way... may it be broken now? in "standby" my current voltage values on the 6581 are: more or less 4,6V on Cap1A, Cap1B, Cap2A, Cap2B 0,03V Clk 11,83V Vdd 5,30V audio out pin 4,65V audio in 5,00V vcc 0,10V on potx and poty more or less 0V or 5V on the logical pins the "real" audio out is at 0 volts
  4. thanks! Now I have to find a dealer :D I'll send an email to ask for it
  5. Hi my post is a bit off topic perhaps.. A friend of mine gave me an old Alesis Mmt8 for free, because it didn't work anymore. I've read on the net that this sequencer often has problem with buttons, because it uses gummy conductive pads that touch metal pcb's tracks, like often happens in calculators. I cleaned the pcb tracks with alcohol, now they are shiny and now at least they work! But they still don't make good contacts and I have to press a lot to activate them... Can you suggest me a good way to clean the conductive tracks better? Bye!
  6. Hi, I received yesterday 3 sample PICs from microchip, I'm reading the documentation about these microcontrollers... I've read that PIC has a 10bit AD converter but not a DA converter. I thought that putting a DA converter after a PIC may make it possible to use it ad a sound generator or DSP, isn't it? Does it work fast enough? Is it possible to code it for making a filter, or a wave oscillator.. or perhaps both of them in the same device? I know that 10bits are not that much but it can be useful for a noob to make some experiments..
  7. huh... so i have to find another one :'( :'( thanks!
  8. Hi.. i have an old soundblaster ISA card, i can't find the yamaha chip there, perhaps I don't know how it's done :D Can you help me? These are 2 pics of the card http://ma.indivia.net/temp/sb1.JPG http://ma.indivia.net/temp/sb2.JPG warning, each pic is 1 MB
