  1. I have a Crystalfontz 20x4 just like that hooked to my core module and it works great.
  2. Well after my attempts at creating a power supply went up in smoke. I got too busy to work on the FM. I did find this power supply and just recieved it. I have not wired it up, but for the money it appears to be a very sturdy supply. I am going to have some time next week to try to finish. I do have the core working and the FM OS is loaded, I have the majority of the solding done. Next comes all the hooking up. https://secure-checkout43.monstercommerce.com/2298362093/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=439 is the url of the power supply.
  3. http://www.trippler.net/files/mov/bcrevo.avi Check out the video... I am sure we could do better
  4. What I was wondering was if I could replace the transformer with a 12.5 V supply and run it throught the circuitry to get both +12 and -12 out of it. I have actually decided to try the other power supply Duggle suggested in this thread http://69.56.171.55/~midibox/forum/index.php?topic=3970.0 but I am terrible at making my own pcb's and my last attempt with stripboard worked briefly and then I released the magic smoke out of one of the capacitors :( I am much better when I have a ready made PCB, but aren't we all. Going to try making my own traces with solder on a piece of perfboard this weekend once I get some more caps, and a new Voltage reg. Bobby
  5. I have a question. I am going to try the PSU out. My question relates to the 4 separate grounds that I see. Do I connect these to a common ground? the ones I am puzzled by are the one coming off each voltage regulator. Any help is very much appreciated. Bobby
  6. Wow just saw your site...that is incredible work. i would be very interested in a set of PCb's.. You might consider talking to Smash TV about making a small run of boards.. I bet they would sell out quick.
  7. Nice work.. can't wait until mine is done.
  8. Not to post spam but try this guy... chris.montplaisir@alliedelec.com He told me he can get hammond stuff pretty quickly. I am getting ready to order an enclosure for myself. Tell me a little more about how you are doing the Transaction with FPE. I might do this with the design i have come up with for my FM. Bobby
  9. My core module lives :) So now I am forced to work on a power solution for my MBFM. I discovered that I have a wall wart supply that has both a 12V 500ma line and a 12.5V 200ma line. I would like to use the 12V line to power the core, and the 12.5V line to power the OPL board. Is this possible? is it a bad idea? If it is doable.. Where should I start? My other option will be to make the whole transformer power supply as shown on here, but I don't understand the mods I would need to do to get 5v to j1 on the core. My core module is a Rev 2 from smash TV. Bobby
  10. I got an adjustable wall wart from Radio shack. 9V 800ma seems to work nicely. The bootstrap sends a Sysex message but. I couldn't find the other midi cable, so I have to wait until tonight to upload MIOS. Got my fingers crossed.
  11. Thanks for the tips. I did search for it.. The words voltage and core bring up a ton of posts. I did not find what I was looking for though. I Used the 5V because I had it nearby, and I just wanted to test the core module before proceeding further. I have the FM module, and DIN modules ready, I just need to finish my DOUT. Then I will be wiring the rest up to test it. The 12v supply will be built soon, but I am very cautious when it comes to power. I will be visiting radio shack today and trying to find a 8-9V 500ma min supply. I appreciate the forums help with this. Bobby
  12. I just finished my core module, and I did like TK's page says and checked the voltage across certain pins in both the IC sockets. I get a reading of 1.8V in each place. I am using a 5V and 1amp Wall wart. I am getting 5V at the input. I just don't know how to up the voltage across the board. Should I use a higher voltage power supply? This is going into a Midibox FM. Thanks for any help. Bobby
  13. What enclosure is that? That is exactly what I am looking for. Bobby
  14. I am interested in this order for motorfaders, and knobs for the faders. What I can't figure out is the pricing. Can someone give me an idea what currency they are in? Or a rough estimate on the cost for the Faders and knobs in US$. Thanks, Bobby
