  1. Issue with uploaded the wrong version was... [From memory] Checksum OK... Checksum OK... ... Write Error... (This error was expected) Write Error... ... Aborting after 16 errors Uploading the correct file... Checksum OK... ... Upload successful.
  2. I don't seem to be able to find the pinout for a Rev3 board. :( Actually one thing I do find confusing about the docs I have read is that there is no orientation information on the pin assignments, jumpers can go on 2 ways y'know...
  3. Sorry - yes I did use smartmode, after each block I get the checksum OK response. I will post the output, as soon as I can work out how to cut and paste.
  4. I checked the wiring on the cable - I am using the standard 2x20 VK2220 module. Conductivity is good, and all the pins are wired correctly. I do have a rev3 board but I took the jumper pins from the latest rev documentation. The brightness/contrast dials work OK so I assume I have these the right way round. The midibox seems to work - I have uploaded MIOS without error, and the Midibox64 application and all the checksums are OK. I did have an issue originally when I uploaded the wrong hex file. Now when I start the board I get a single request to upload, and then a whole bunch of messages (blue in MIOS studio) from the Midibox64 app - basically a set of controller data. I have not wired up the AIN or DIN module yet - but I don't think this would stop the display from working. Not sure what else to do...
  5. OK as far as I can tell the Core module is working. I uploaded MIOS 1.9f and MidiBox64 and it worked OK with all the checksums intact. I just finished wiring up an LCD and I just get the block pattern on the top row. The contrast/brightness work OK, but no messages. Any ideas on what could be wrong? I've checked my pins and they seem to be OK.
  6. I just connected everything up and I got this in SysExBox... "Received SysEx Block from Device 3F with 8 bytes in MIOS format - cmd 01 (not saved)" at a regular interval... Does that mean my core module is working OK?? :D Steve
  7. Anyone have any tips for soldering the components on straight - I just finished the DIN module last night and the jumpers/IC holders didn't go on straight. How do you ensure that the parts stay level when you flip the board over to solder? Thanks, Steve

  9. OK I apologize in advance if I'm re-inventing the wheel, if so then please point me to where I need to go. I'm looking for the definitive circuit for interfacing the GP2D12 - GP2D120 sensor to the AIN module. I've read a lot of the posts and there is a great deal of speculative info out there, but no circuit diagrams that I can see. [i need circuit diagrams to work from - I'm a visual learner! :) ] The ACSensorizer is cool, but I bit more than I need - so is there a simple interface circuit with something like a trim pot for calibration, and a cap or two for smoothing, that gives us the 0-5V we really need for the AIN?   11. Hi, I've only just got around to assembling my MIDIBOX CORE Rev3 I bought in 2005. I've put it together and I've completed the ground tests - checks out OK. I've tested +Ve and with a 9V battery on J1 I get 5.06V on all test pins apart from pin 11 on the MIDIBOX PIC (Bootstrap V 1.01B) On my PCB this pin is only connected to one of the jumper pins in J5 - so I don't know where it's going to get +5V from. Any help with what I should do next would be appreciated. Thanks, Steve

  13. Hi, I've been studying the MIDIOS system, so far I'm a bit confused... ??? I think I want to build a midi box64 - I say think because I either need that or the MIDI0128 - to process MIDI data for this project: http://www.stephenhobley.com/Site/content/view/36/55/ It seems that all the parts for a MID box 64 are available from http://www.avishowtech.com/mbhp/buy.html So I need to buy a core module, and the DIN module? I think I'll order the DOUT and AIN as well in case I ever decide to use them. Do I need the PIC programmed with the bootstrap loader - it appears that I do. Also what should I put in the PIC header ID field when ordering? I don't know what this means. If someone wiser could help me out it would be appreciated. Thanks! Steve
  14. Hi, I recently constructed a laser harp - see http://www.stephenhobley.com/Site/content/view/36/55/. At the moment it's being driven by a computer, I would like to add a PIC based component to drive MIDI on/off messages from the hi/lo inputs from the beam detectors. I found this site - it looks like you have everything I might need, but there's so many different things to choose from... Which one is best? Thanks, Steve
