heheh hij word nog gemaakt, is volgende week op z'n laatst af (zeiden ze) heb 'm laten maken bij Van Lochem te Aalten (een dorpje in de buurt van waar ik woon, in de achterhoek ;)).. tis geloof ik een smid, maar er zit ook een ijzerhandel bij.. (jeweetwel, gereedschap enzo) erg aardige lui wel. ze waren ook niet echt op mn geld uit had ik het idee.. elders hebben ze me wel es 200 euro voorgerekend. het word gewoon een open doosje van 16 inch breed (heb ik nog 3 inch voor rackoren, heb de maten afgekeken van m'n nord modular), 3 rackunits diep en 7 centimeter hoog, met een open bovenkant. ik denk dat die lui dingen als frontpanels ook wel kunnen.. misschien doen ze zelfs wel cnc, maar dat weet ik niet echt zeker.. je kunt ze es bellen.. ik heb dus mijn knoppen op een metalen plaat bevestigd.. wat je kunt doen is een frontpanel maken in frontpaneldesigner (van schaeffer, jeweetwel) en dat ergens laten uitprinten op a3 stickerpapier, en de 'reference points' mee uitprinten.. dat plak je dan precies recht op de plaat die je als frontpanel wil gebruiken, slaat op die reference points met je centerpoint deukjes en boort dan die gaten uit.. het is een stuk relaxeder en preciezier boren emt een kolomboor natuurlijk, maar als je ff je tanden op elkaar zet kan het met een handboor ook wel.. misschien moet je ff rondvragen. ik kon op het werk van een vriend van me met hun kolomboor mijn dingen boren.. (overigens heb ik de helft nog met een handboor gedaan)

ja, opzich is dat wel weer een goeie :) echter heb ik m'n behuizing ergens laten maken voor niet al te veel geld (5 tientjes). ziet het er ook nog een beetje uit, hoop ik, ipv dat ik zelf iets inelkaar ga prutsen. (hoewel dat met zo'n koffer dan weer niet zou hoeven)

hmm.. safety. that's something i didn't really think about yet. :) i guess the chance of electrocuting myself would be pretty big if i did this myself. someone i know is pretty skilled in electronics though. would it be smart if i let him fix this for me? or is putting an internal psu inside a small case were everything is packed together on a tight space potentially unsmart?

thanks, gonna fix me a heatsink asap then ;) i didn't see that list yet. looks very promising! :) i might just wait with ordering my frontpanel till this is out ;) btw: any tips on that power supply? i really have no clue what transformer would be sufficient. (noob, you know ;)

hi folks. i finally got my sequencer up and running and i must say i'm quite pleased with it! so far the good news ;) 1: i was playing around with it yesterday, and after about an hour or so it crashed! by crashing i mean the thing shutting down, leaving all notes hanging. it does work again when i restart it.. but then after about 15 minutes it goes again. my 7805 (without heatsink) is getting really really hot, could it be it goes into thermal protection and shuts the system down? also i have to say it's not in any enclosure, i mounted everything onto a metal plate, wich balances onto two teacups.. ;) i guess the wiring is pretty vulnerable this way. is it possible that i shorted out something by accident and made it crash this way? i didn't actually touch any wires so i think it is pretty unlikely, but i thought i had to mention it to rule that out. 2: the 'exit' button doesn't do anything. it is connected and working (midio128 tells me so anyway), so i'm wondering if it has no function on the application anymore as of an earlier update? 3: i'd like to get rid of my wall-adapter and replace it with an internal psu. wich is the minimum power at wich this should run? is it for instance a good idea to get my hands on a 5v trafo? will this for instance reduce the heat on the 7805? or does the 7805 require 9 volts. i'd be pleased if someone could give me the lowdown on this :) 4: i think i need to heatsink my 7805, even if the crashes aren't caused by it. will anything metallic with some cooling paste on it do as a heatsink? :) 5: is it possible to make 32 (or longer) step patterns? if not, will this ever be possible? i think it would be very very usefull! 6: perhaps something for a future implementation; how about a second drum mode in wich you can specify 2 note values the same way you can specify 2 velocity values using the accents. i think it would enrich the drum mode a lot this way! thanks!

i was stuck on the same thing, but i now found a hardware store that has a workshop that is going to build my case out of metal. costs me 50E, but i'll have a nice enclosure exactly fitting my needs for about the price of a hammond case..

oh boy oh boy oh boy! you can't imagine how happy i am. that interconnection test saved the day. it was a lousy on the second DIN that prevented the sc line current to flow through to the third board. all fixed now. i could almost kiss you thorsten :P thanks!

heh.. i think there's a little miscommunication here because of me typing messages while you already replied, but here's the situation at this moment: the app loaded just fine, and it seems to be working again! now it leaves me with debugging the din section, of wich i have one (the first in chain) working. going to make the others work now too, but since i had major troubles getting the third and last DIN to work, could you keep an eye out for this thread in case i get stuck again? thanks for the help!

oh boy, this is weird. i tried uploading again, let it run for about 10 minutes without anything showing up on the lcd screen or on the mios midi monitor (nothing like 'upload succesful or anything'. then, being dissapointed, i just powered off, powered on again and voila, it worked! ;D ;D ;D ;D i wish i knew what was going on here, but i think i'll just be happy it's working again. what is very strange, is that my din's don't seem to do anything anymore now. not even the ones that did work before this midi timeout thing. debugging time. :) edit: i typed this while you posted your reply.. i guess i just hit 'start just on time'. anyway, any thoughts on the din thing? i guess the whole din chain not working is a connection problem, but that third din really boggles me. what could make this last board react in a way that i does work in itself but refuses to when it's in the chain?

i have a fatar keybed laying around here by the way. one key is broken off, but it's working. also have a midi out module to go with it.. perhaps you should get your hands on a cheap masterkeyboard on a carboot sale and just pull it apart, like i did, it may even be cheaper then ordering a new one.

mja.. opzich is dat wel erg handig, scheelt een boel moeite om zo'n behuizing te vinden... mijn plan is echter om een rackmount kast te maken, waar je de oren af kunt halen zodat ie ook op je buro kan, dus dan is een koffer weer niet zo handig ;)
