    MidiBox R4d Core PI

Thanks. I think there is enough documentation to support the minor differences between the software changes between the 452 and the 4620 to make it easy to go with the 4620. I was nervous about trying the 4685 for my application. I wish wiring old organ keyboards was as easy as choosubg the MNHP platform.
  2. Smash TV now lists 3 pics PICfor the MidiBox Core; PIC18F452, PIC18F4620 and PIC18F4685. The first MIDIO128 I built uses the PIC18F452. It looks like Smash TV is recomending the PIC18F4685 now for the default Core PIC. Does anyone have any experiance using either the PIC18F4620 PIC or PIC18F4685 PIC in a MIDIO128 configuration. I am working on an organ with 2 61 key manuals and an organ with 3 61 key manuals. Both organs hava e 32 key pedal namual.
  3. Thanks, This link does answer my questions when I use a monitor that works better than my portable. Now I can finish my testing. Thanks again. Fred
  4. Is there a sure-fire way to test a DINX4 board. I have run the srio_interconnection test_v1 and I have 5 volts on the sc and rc when I should. I have 5 volts between ground on the core and Vd on each DIN I have checked. Vs on the J3 through J6 is ok back to ground on the core. D0 through D7 on J3 through J6 all have 5 volts. After I ran the srio_interconnection_test_v1, I loaded the midio128_v2_1d hex file with MIOS Studio. I thought if I connected one of the D0 - D7 pins to Vs, I would get a note-on in either MIOS Studio or MIDI-OX. I guess I'm confused. Thanks.
  5. The only DIN PDF schematic I can find is for revision V_2a. It shows the 8 sil connectors with 5 pins each. Is there a similar PDF document for V_5 or something close to V_5 that shows the 4 dil connectors with 10 pins each. I'm trying to check out my 4 din boards with my core before I start wiring the keboards from an organ I am converting to midi. Thanks.
  6. Thanks, I'll try to load MIOS now. I thought it was already on the new PIC.
  7. I renamed the .zip to .jar and I have a splash screen. Windows says its running. I guess I can go forward until my stupidity complicates things. I always avoid the simple solution and go straight to the most confusing. The splash screen never goes away unless I boot the computer. When I run the .jar file from the command line, I get a lot of java errors: C:\MidiBox>java -jar MIOSStudio_beta7_4.jar Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: org/midibox/a pps/miosstudio/gui/MIOSStudioGUIDriver (Unsupported major.minor version 48.0) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass0(Native Method) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(Unknown Source) at java.security.SecureClassLoader.defineClass(Unknown Source) at java.net.URLClassLoader.defineClass(Unknown Source) at java.net.URLClassLoader.access$100(Unknown Source) at java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method) at java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(Unknown Source) at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(Unknown Source)
  8. Is that the smart mode in Mios Studio or Midi Ox? I haven't had any luck finding the .jar file for Mios Studio. I've tried lots of links in the forum. Most eventually loop back on themselves. The closest I have gotten is to the MIOS_Studio_beta7_4.zip file but there is a .jar file in there. Also, should I be loading a .sys or a .hex file?
  9. I just finished building my first core and it looks like I have introduced an "undesireable enhancement". I foolishly patted my self on the back after I thought I checked everything out with a multi-meter before I tried to load anything. This is my setup: Dell Portable Latitude D810, OS XP SP2, processor 1.73 GHZ, memory 795 MHz 1.OO GB Midi-Ox 7.0.0.365 Midiman USB Midisport 4x4 with latest drivers The core has a PIC18F452 with BSL v1.2B and MIOS v1.9D I have the Midi-Ox event connected to the Midi outport port a. This is connect to the core. My problem is the Midi-os input monitor never stops displaying FO OO OO 7E 40 00 01 F7 every 2 seconds. I have uploaded varios .syx application files. I see them in the Midi Ox output window, but nothing changes. I have not been handicapped by much knowledge or understaning. I have relied completely on blind stupidity which is my strongest talent. Help.

    CORE_R4D

I see what I need to see on one of my monitors and my second monitor is worthless for this ptroject! I'll use my first monitor the next time before I waste everbody's time. I' m ready to apply power to my first core project and start searching for my bad soldering!

    CORE_R4D

The schematic I am using is mbhp_core_v3.pdf. It shows R4 connected to P1. On the CORE_R4D board, I can't find any connection between R4 and P1.
  12. I am building a core module with a CORE_R4D PCB. The only schematic I have is for CORE_R3. R4 is supposed to be between the B leg if T1 and the center of P1. I have been using a multimeter to check each resister as I solder them from the farthest pointin the circuit at one end, through the resister, to the farthest point in the circuit at the other end. Everything is good except R4. Its ok from the B leg of T1 through the resister, but i can't see where the circuit goes after the resister and I've checked everywhere with a multimeter to find where it goes. Do I need to put a jumber in between R4 and P1?
  13. Thanks, and thanks, and thanks. I've looked at the page showing the three cores but missed the siginificance of the red lines. Thanks again.
  14. If I have three cores, do I conect the core-0 J11 to the core-1 J11? Do I have to reversethe two wires between MI and MO? Also How to I connect the third Core? Do I also connect it to core-0 J11 or core-1 J11? ???
  15. I'm still confused about using multiple cores for the MIDIO128. What is J11 used for if all you need to do is daisy chain the midi-in to midi-out and activate the midi-merger? I'm midifying an old Hammond organ with two 61 keyboards and one 32 key pedalboard. I will have second touch on all keys and pedals so I will need 3 or 4 cores depending on what I do with the presets. ???
