  1. Hello. I'm about to build gm5 board, but the layout on ucapps site is too microscopic for me, your board seems to be easy to make. I'm going to etch it myself . So can you send me big images of your board, each side seperatly? Or could you update the ucapps page for gm5 module, could you?
  2. Chips arrived. Didn't know they were soooo tiny. Anyway it's all good. Look soon for the GM 5 build report.
  3. Hey, I'm planning to etch the biggest 5x5 interface, I know there was a PCB somewhere in this post (but I really don't want to search 33 pages back). TK, could you put this PCB on the Ucapps GM5 page, next to the 2x2 PCB?
  4. I want to midify Electronica EM04, and Electronica EM25 (two-contact switching mechanism), I guess its just hooking up douts module to keys. But what about channel selection? I don't have any programming skills, so I'll need help implementing this. (Thanks for splicing up a thread!)
  5. I have this synth for many years now MANUAL Page 79-84, 90-92 and what was always frustrating for me is impossibility of preset storage, or at least some control of the ADSR, Filter and so on. To realize presets I need buttons that send MSB, LSB, program change at the same time (voice selection) I'd say 32 buttons will be enough (or with page button it would be even better). Now, to change effect button must send MSB, LSB (i don't really understand how they do not conflict with voice selection). Say 1 btn for reverb select, 1 btn for chorus select, 3-4 btn for dsp select. Analog control consist of attack and release, filter cutoff, resonance, reverb send, chorus send, and dsp send, also i add modulation slider instead of wheel, and part vol-pan control. there's also 'portamento control' and 'expression' , what do they mean? Don't know how expression affects the sound (simple volume control or more complex?). And what exactly is portamento contol? But what about layering sounds? I mean I see setup like this - synth sends midi out notes to midibox - midibox chooses on how many channels will play-copy notes from other chanell (router) discard velocity info or not. - doubled or trippled midi goes to midibox programmer where i choose how this particular channel will sound. Essential is the control from its keyboard. All this adds very important feature for me programming and realtime control. I'm sure korg m1 or better yamaha must have this features installed at the beginning but, this was my first keyb' ya'now :) Have sentimental feelings for it. Also i really like its digital basses. They are so cold, very differ from any fm or analog. Also has some pads and harpsicord that i like :) So I ask you is this project possible? Even with 2 cores and different lcd's. I'm so affraid to touch programming, that I'm ready to do everything to avoid it.
  6. You use Midibox LC application right? Can you record video on how the LCD feedbacks you actions? I can't see anywhere how the LCD reacts, or what commands it has. Also, what LCD you used?
  7. Hello. Your work is very impressive here. I'm trying to gather more info about such controllers for ableton. Maybe I should've used mail or pm, but anyway: 1. What is Mackie control protocol and how you use it in your particular example (is it midi cc chart?)? Please explain. 2. I have NEVER saw some kind of jog function, or scratch emulator in ableton. Really knocks me down. But i thought about jog wheel to control playback position but no trace of that in live too. Can you help? 3. Ok LED rings for faders is something new. It is a good idea for me! I'd certenly use that! 4. Ok, if I decide to go for 18 channels it would be +100 pots and buttons, so bank might be the only way out. (thanks for the idea, i just seemed to miss it) 5. Scene navigation. Haven't seen this function either. What it do? Also i see two knobs - loop start, loop end. This is what I need! If i had them recording sessions would be so much easier! Also in live I can't see anywhere these buttons << >>. tell where to assign this function to midi CC? 6. I see you missed tempo TAP function. This question is more to live itself, then to hardware. Tell me, is there a way to tap tempo and have audio track played smothly in background? I meat when i click of the warp function tempo still affects the track - it affects it playing position, trying to tap tempo to this track is quite frustrating, just can't get answer anywhere... Again Thanks A LOT for such good ideas about ergonomics and layout, but for my case eq buttons quite useless, instead i'll add D send pot. I think building ableton controllers should be standalone like SID project. I wish you happy finishing!
  8. Just wondering is there a tap button, so i could sync sequences to the drummer's tempo? I haven't built one yet, but i want to know as much as i can before making one. I'm clicking button four times (for each beat), and choose between 4/4 and 3/4, and my tempo matches drummer's. The next click tunes the tempo further more (i really like the behavour of Traktor DJ Studio tap button). Just let me know if its there.
  9. Hi. Currently, it's the only LCD available to me (couldn't find anything else). Here's datasheet. Please tell me it WILL work ::)
  10. I just made PIC burner (but i havn't bought PIC yet) and i have some questions. When i connect power supply green LED immidiatly lights up. Whit nothing in sockets , and powered up p18 tells me: "Kein Brenner gefunden! No programmer detected!" But, when i mess with hardware section, nothing happens! Just lonely green LED. When i plug NM74HC14N, and with SCLK on, and Vdd on, Red LED lights up! So, could i programm PIC with this burner? But what about Yellow LED? It doesn't lights up! Or it's normal?
  11. Ok, it's time for update! DINx2 module is ready (but i guess i'll need one more DINx1 module), DOUTx3 is ready, and the PIC burner. Still need AINx2 (or AINx3 ???). So hardware works ahead, little soldering, much cable-fetish and so on. Really happy to see my project going on.
  12. There's a filter section and filter type selector. I think it's rational to make a selection button with LEDs instead of 7 buttons with same LEDs. Can it be realised in MIOS? I've searched forum, but haven't found answer, sorry if you see this question for 100th time but otherwise i'll have to redesign the box. It's identical to the filter section of Simpler in Ableton (in ableton it was context menu). I want something like this: o LP1 O LP2 o HP1 TYPE o HP2 o BP1 o BP2 o NT It shouldn't be hard right?
  13. I guess this thread answered my questions http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php?topic=9329.0 Though, this thread is will remain for me to keep track of the project, i'm currently on. After learning about different modules, I took DIN module as my first build. Compared to AIN module it's easier to build. Let's see if that DIN module obey to my soldering skills :)
  14. No i don't want to process output, it's allright you know 8) All i want is to make a usual midibox ( just like in gallery), and buttons of this midibox should send note on/off massages, just like my axiom does (there's 2 modes for note on/off - axiom users should know). I wonder is this feature already in midibox, or i'll have to deal with "programming" after i'm done with hardware? That was the question. This photo should give clear view to my intentions. This is a single module, one of four. Or how many money i'll spend on pots :) In general. I want to know what can i configure inside MIOS, is it possible to change MIDI cc# for pots/sliders? What buttons can do (program change for presets, MSB, LSB (not really needed, just curious :) )? Can it handle things like SOLO, MUTE with LEDs light up where it should be etc.
  15. Allright! Time to clean this thread up, and make it a real midibox chronicle! I will drop photos, tips of making and so on.
