  3. The inner faces of the wooden ends are CNC profiled. No edges of any of the panels are visible - they either fit into grooves milled into the wood, or into the extrusion. The only way to remove the panel would be to remove the bolts. The only part of the whole design that relies on friction is where the bolts work against the thread, and even they are nyloc, so they will never loosen by chance.
  4. Thank you. The chasiss will be cheaper than the existing Heidenreich unit, but, whilst there will be no minimum order quantity from me, it will also depend as to how much general interest there is. For example, one supplier charged me GBP 25 delivery - but i think that if i had purchased double, the delivery would not have risen. If people are keen, i will also look at different wood options. The ends in the photo were just some wood i had about here, but maybe a hardwood might be nice too. re: the nuts - When i got them in the post, i rushed to fit them... but was then disappointed! But, the more i see them now, the more they grow on me. I think that they would be bad with metal, but with the light colored wood, i think they (probably!) work.
  5. EDIT - I have asked people to confirm their interest in this project. The following members have confirmed (with their email address) - WilHelm* If your name is not above, and you want it to be, please pm me with your details. I have to order in the rails for these. I will not over order, so, please, if you want a unit, make sure your name is above! Because i make panels for people's Heidenreich cases, I'm aware of the trouble and expense of getting hold of the chassis units. A lot of us also lost money with Marco's issues. Basically, its never been an ideal situation. Below are some photos of something i have been working on to get around the issues above.
  6. Not that i think its important enough an issue to disagree with any real care, but ill mention my take - I dont know about fans, but i do know a tiny bit about centrifugal pumps. Theyre not the same at all, but similar... kind of... i guess... : ) Efficiency with them is reduced a lot when the vacuum side is restricted. The output can be restricted far more with less efficiency cost, but strangle the input, and there's issues. They push well, but pull badly. If this were true for fans, then it would be better to push air in then to pull air out. But computers contradict this with their power supplies (that normally pump air out of the machine) but not with their CPU fans, which, IIRC, normally push air over the heat sink fins. Considering the fan probably isnt needed too badly, i think ive wasted 3 mins of my life typing the above anyhow! : )
  7. This thread is a few months old now, but... Kristal was originally organising the group-buys for the chassis units, and then the panels could be supplied by either myself (i made the set in the photo) or by fpd. I was talking with Kristal about taking over the group buy organisation, however, it would not have been so easy for me, as a) i dont speak german, b) whilst im in the EU (for now!) i no longer hold a euro bank account (so all the conversions would be costly) and c) uk shipping is more than it should be. It looks like "doc007" ran the last order, which is now complete. In an ideal world i would have liked to keep stock of the cases, but its too much for me to keep that value of stock for a project that may evolve beyond the current enclosure.
  8. Last time i looked at this (which was some time ago now) the configuration had not stabilised, so there seemed to be no 'common' back panel, hence keeping with the 'known good' of the past. I would not like to ship a 'beta', but If things are now stable, then its not a problem to change the back panel, however, i would need to know precisely what is required. I will not have the fpd for the current rear panel, as the on/off switch was updated (along with, i think, the power jack) to more accessible parts, as builders were having issues with the original parts. A midi port was also added from the original IIRC I can update the dxf without issue, but, again, i would want to be 100% sure it was a final/stable/correct revision before shipping it out to people.
  9. ps. im pretty sure i still have some pactec cases to go with them also, if anyone is keen?
  10. Ive just cut some matt black with white infill, and put them in my 'shop' http://thebeast.co.uk/?product_cat=midibox Thank you, Julian
  11. Someone got in before you! I have one more finishing as i type this, but i wont update the stock in the 'shop' until its off the machine. I never list things that dont actually exist, as that's just a road to pain... I think the timer says that the final pass should be complete in about 1.5hrs from now
  12. I know its been ages - my attention has been on other things. ...but ive finally re-cut some of the mbseq desktop panel sets. These ones - (note, i dont cut the cases, just the panels - the top and rear sections) Anyhow, ive just taken updated the page here accordingly - http://thebeast.co.uk/?product=midibox-mbseq-v4-desktop-enclosure-panel-set Again, im sorry that it has taken so long. Julian
  13. I signed for a bunch of parts for the machine about 45mins ago, but it will take some time to get it all back together again. Im really hoping minimal downtime, but its taken me a while to get to this point (real irritating, intermittent error, hard to track down, and would write off hours of work every time it showed up!). Id still advise you to make every effort to buy the set advertised, as i just wont know for sure until im back up and running.
  14. I am out of stock of the mb6582, until i figure out what is wrong with my large cnc machine - so i would suggest that the sale above is worth taking (unless you would rather pay FPD prices!)
  15. On and off, i try to buy a seqv4 pcb to build, and ive not managed it yet. If you would believe, ive been (very) casually looking for one for years! Best case scenario, i would like to purchase a non-started kit. Thank you, Julian (united kingdom)
  16. Mbseq (gloss black) back in stock. (fancy a matching gloss black mbseq & mb6582 - its possible now : )
  17. Im sorry - the mbseq are sold out (again) Ive just ordered a load more matt black metal, so will have more comming after the weekend. My intention is to get some stock of both, so there is colour choice etc in the shop.
  18. Kristal was organizing the buys - he spoke with me about taking it over, which would make sense (all parts coming from one place) but the complication is that i dont speak German, and the supplier is in Germany (i would imagine that they may speak english, but i think i made some attempts at communication, which did not work, so maybe not) Also, shipping from me, in the uk, is more difficult (read as more expensive) which i thought might upset some people. ...but the main reason, i guess, is just that it hasnt got sorted? I would like to hold stock of the cases, but the MOQ is 10 units, and theyre about GBP 80 ish each - so holding GBP 800 of stock is a bit of a risk for a project like this. Its possible, but worrying.
  19. Apologies - most of the midibox panels listed in my 'shop' have been sold out for a while now. The current stock level is pretty poor (there have been some people known to have been waiting, who have had the initial panels) but im trying to get a selection of mb6582 and mbseq panels up there. Indeed, as i type this, both are there, just in limited colors / finishes. I have some green mb6592 engraved, and some matt black mbseq on the pile to be milled, but then ill get on with some other colors / finishes. Again, apologies the cupboard has been bare. Julian
  20. Ive just added a decent discount coupon code to the store - 20% off any stocked panel or part (im trying to clear some older stock) It would enable you to, for instance, buy one of these rotary sequencer panels for GBP 44 (ex shipping). I dread to think how many multiples of that FPD would charge!! Some other in-stock parts, that the coupon will work on are the gloss panels i posted last week - Some other 5u bits - etc.etc. (basically, anything you can find 'in stock' on the shop) The coupon is valid for 1 week (the system will expire it automatically) and most of the parts are in 1-off quantities (ie stock on them will be zero after a purchase is made, and then they will be back to normal price) Oh yes, the code - 20%-off-until-2015-05-18
  21. I was looking for some photos to illustrate a post on another forum, and linked in these. When i posted the photos, i thought i should re-post them here. The panels are in the 'shop' but, for some reason, the glossy panels and the colored ones are always a slow sale. I think they look good, but most people just choose matt black with white infill. Anyhow, i thought id 'bump' these ones, as i would rather sell them than just cut *another* set of matt black.... (!) : )
