  1. Hi Bug fight I'm sure the interface is very good - I use a 2x2 midisport but like I said I'm sure I have seen issues on a couple of sites - can't remember which maybe Guitar Rig or Behringer Uno. It is worth a try then it can be eliminated and maybe check the cables too. Aus
  2. I'm not really the most informed person on here (honest lo) but I did notice your using a M Auio Uno - I have noticed on other forums Behringer Uno etc that people have had lots of problems with this interface. Is there any chance you can borrow a different interface and try that ? I hope that helps ish Aus
  3. Hi been trying to sort out a joystick for my planned Midibox 64 did the usual search ;) and found that using a poc joystick might be cheap and good fun. I opened up a Logitech Extreme 3D and did tests on the pots and they come back at between 20k and 100k - Is the Midi box able to scale the pot response to what it needs or do all pots need to be 10k? I hope this makes sense. Cheers Aus
  4. sorry to disappoint everyone but just noticed delivery is $60 to Uk SO I think I'll pass lol But if anybody tries one and has one spare please let me know (unless shipping is $60!) Aus
  5. ok I think I will, actually be rude not too as long as I can always post a question or two lol Keep you posted Aus
  6. I got a bit lost on this one - will they work with a normal Midi Box project ? lol I presume so and the other stuff is just a sizing issue with the pcbs Aus
  7. Hi just in the process of buying my parts for a midibox when I came across this on EBAY http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Futaba-4X20-LCD-Emulator-VFD-NA204SD02-4-Line-20-Char_W0QQitemZ220400064332QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item220400064332&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177 Has anybody used them and are they compatible it does say that its HD44780 compliant but I just wanted to check first. Cheers Aus
  8. Thanks Stryd, I did do a search first but I got a bit lost and I couldn't find what I was looking for but I think I have found what I want now. Cheers Aus
  9. Hi its a little off topic but just wondered if anybody had any ideas where I can get a power supply that is 230v in 17VAC CT output 750mA on a 5 pin din plug. Its for an old midi mitigator controller. I have contacted Condor the makers of the original but as yet I have had no response. If anybody knows where I can find a couple I would be VERY grateful indeed. Cheers Aus P.S Sorry Stryd
  10. Hi just trying to find a x - y axis joystick but really struggling , I did find a couple of Doepfer's web site but just wondered if there were any more out there to choose from. Aus
  11. Cheers Strophlex, I had a quick look and it seems it can be done just needs programming and as I have no idea how to program in C I'll leave it for the time being lol. Regarding powering the unit if I supply over 500mA to the board will the regulators over heat ? or will it just take what it needs like stompboxes? Aus
  12. thanks Stryd, and everyone else - you've been a massive help. Looks like I'm ordering this weekend. I might even do a post on how I'm getting on so others don't have to ask all the same silly questions. The Dinout module that controls the LED's can that be controlled by Ableton to show clips playing or is that way to advanced at this stage? Aus
  13. cheers for that , sort of getting the whole thing now. Pretty much got the whole thing planned out now, BUT just one thing :) On Smash's pcb kits he has the pins for all interboard connections is there a plug I can get somewhere to fit or is it just as easy to solder multicable between the boards
  14. thanks for that one had been looking in Rapid but RS will do lol Also found some on ebay. Just one last one though - Any ideas on PIC ID as its my first is that not important?
  15. Hi bit of a noob question but where can I get 74HC165 chips in the UK have checked rapid and maplin to no avail. Any help gratefully received. Cheers Aus
  16. just downloaded the software - very impressive and very easy to use - bit much of the fiddly stuff but I'll work it out I'm a guitarist so its a go slow I'm afraid lol
  17. Cheer for that strophlex, its all starting to make sense now - I got confused looking at SMASH's AIN boards with VD and VS but all sussed now! Is it possible to try the programming software with out the midibox just to give me a quick idea on what it does? Just need to find the 74HC165 and I'm done lol Aus
  18. Hi, been lurking on the site for a little while confusing myself silly. But I have been a bit more pro active in searching the forum etc and still need a bit more advice in a more compact from. I have decided to build a MIDIBOX 64 or similar using SMASH tv's boards and PIC but need a few things confirming. I just want to use the box to control elements in ableton so not sure if I need a LCD as I would program Ableton to the MIDIBOX rather than vice versa is this possible to just set up the box once via software and negate the need for a bank stick. Also what pic would suite this project best I'm new to PIC's and did read up but SMASH does still feel slightly confused. He also offers to burn the PIC which means I don't need to program the chip further unless thru midi correct? Is there a quick pic or tutorial that I could look at regarding wiring the switches and pots to the ain and din. And last but not least where can I get the 74HC165 chips here in the UK? Sorry to ask such rubbish questions but I got a bit lost and fingers crossed Aus 7
  19. Thanks for the input so far. Not sure what happened to the controller - I'm guessing its he eprom as the display is not showing ASCII just odd dashes etc. The machine was there to get a new power supply - they have 2 x 9v AC for some reason so thought he might have fried it when he had it open, but like I said no idea yet. Will keep you posted when I get my multimeter etc
  20. Probably not in the right section so please feel free to move it somewhere I have the odd one or two mitigators and must say its a blinding piece of kit. Pretty much a midi keyboard in a floorboard! Does pretty much anything you ask and more. But here's the question - I recently had one blown up by a "friend" - I think he might have zapped the eprom but don't know how to check. I just wondered if anybody was capable of cloning this device so its not lost for ever. I have 2 working ones that could be used to donor the information. Any serious guys out there can email me direct. Cheers Austin
  21. sorry should have said NO control board for the leslie. Cheers Aus
  22. Yeah sorry it's nothing to mad unfortunately. I'm using the speaker, pots, inductors (but I don't know there values) spring reverb and the Bass Pedals (to make midi hence on here) etc . And yes its the one of the diy stompbox forum. I don't need the keyboards and I also have some inductors if anybody wants them for minimum cash. I also have the leslie parts etc the control board (sorry I needed the opto couplers) So let me know whta you want and I'll give you a price and also a price to send where ever. Cheers Aus
  23. Hi there anybody need any keyboards. I have recently ripped an old organ (yamaha electone) apart for parts for my DIY guitar projects . I have 2 full size keyboards that I don't require and one has 4 extra drum style keys. All switches are intact and working. If anybody needs them feel free to contact me I'm in Bournemouth UK but I work in Hampshire so can sort of help out if you need delivery. These things are quite heavy so reluctant to do DHL etc but can find out for you if you require. Cheers Aus
  24. I know this is an old thread but just thought I'd jump in as I'm from DIY Stompbox Forum and Steve from Small Bear comes on quite a bit. I haven't personally bought anything from Steve yet but I have never heard any bad press about him yet. He gets some cool stuff in and also he asks if you need anything and stocks them for you. Not sure if he has the LINE 6 actuators in but you could try them too. They are the ones on the FM4 etc. Otherwise Banzai are pretty cool and carry them . I think they end up at about $2 each or you could go to Line 6 as they sell them there in stocks of 4 . Maybe you could Email STeve at small bear and ask him what he advises. Hope this helps and feel free to come over to our site we are quite friendly (not like Harmony Central!) We could do with MIDI project guys coming over and helping us out every now and again Cheers AUS
  25. Sorry to jump in this thread, but I too am looking to add midi to a organ pedal board. I understand the basics outlined above. But using the CORE plus the DIN does that just give me note on and off information especially as I would prefer to keep the switches in the board than replace. Is that OK? Also the board has a pedal too does this mean I have to add a analogue input board too? Also I'm really knew to this to upload to the pic can I just use a basic pic development kit say from Rapid or similar? Does the core module have the Midi out built in or do I need a further board? Cheers for the amazing info so far Aus
