  1. So, after some time and changes in my studio, i have just fire up my seq v3. All day playing with it (just forget how fun this machine is), so by now im seeing "mios 1.9f" so, its possible to update to the last version (1.9h) is it safe ?. thanks.
  2. Thanks for the info, i have edited the post. Thats a good idea adding a SEQ to my modular :) Cheers
  3. Hi Im selling my Midibox Seq V4, it as been in my studio for quite some time now, and it was really fun to built and to use it live. Unfortunately in this last 3 years i didn't use it at all, one reason is that my whole idea of performance didnt involve the Seq, so its time to move on and im betting the one who keeps it will give a proper use to this wonderful machine. Some specs: i have built this monster and it took me quite some time, at the time i was giving my first steps towards electronic diy stuff and this was my first project, lots of doubts and also lots of ideas that come out of this enterprise, luckily this forum always help me a lot, awsering questions and keep me positive about all of it. I didnt built a faceplate, was my intention but as soon i was starting playing with this baby i totally forget to make one, also i like the aesthetic of not having a front panel, the Seq as 2 midi in / 2 midi out but is prepared for one more in and out, (i have put the plugs but didnt solder them to the board), the rotary encoders in the front have the top caps, but they are missing from the photos because i was cleaning it and forget to put em back. The machine is running and dont have any errors or crashes the O.S is the last one, and i can throw a Power supply in the sale, the box was my creation, and is solid pine wood, the connections in the back a a proper newbies work, but its all good, no shorts or bad connections. I dont know what to ask because i cant come up with a value,(for the parts i have spent about 300€, wood box 45€ and a lot of days working in it) so if you can make me an offer i will appreciate, also im looking for modular stuff (Makenoise Modules, Intelligel, and a System A-100 (case) from Doepfer)
  4. Hi, im looking for trading a Elektron Sidstation (i do not have the original box), great condiction and with o.s 1.33 . Im looking for 1-Sherman Filterbank 2-Yamaha • FS1R 3-SONY PCM-D50 4-NAD Stereo Pre Amplifier with Phono input - C162 well if you have something else pm me with offers
  5. I have found the problem :D Its all related to the two jump wires on the core "Two isolated cables have to be added at the bottom of the PCB (see also quickview). They are only required by special modules (e.g. IIC devices, SID module)" Well after burning my eyes and mind thinking what was wrong with the banksticks i decided to distance myself, and start to build the iic, as soon as i put the two bridges required for the iic, a shinny light bursts my mind.. I reconnected the banksticks and voilá, the banksticks get formatted one time and thats all. Also the iic midi its good and working. So for all of those who have problems with the banksticks, just remember to put the two bridges in the core first.
  6. sorry for my ignorance but i dont know were to search.
  7. same reading on both vss/vdd 1.8 v vss/wc# 1.8 v And i get the 1.2 and 1.8 when they are formatting I was updating its not 5.8 but 1.8 and they are oscillating, i was getting wrong numbers because they were bad connected
  8. I bought 10 ic 24lc512, and i have tested all of them in a single probe (so i think the ics are fine),also the banksticks get formated (its not a bankstick ic problem but some other thing). Maybe my IC are not compatible with mios (24lc512i/p) I just dont know, i have tried all approaches and the error stills happens .
  9. i have made a single bankstick and connected directly to J4 on the core. And re-solder de banksticks board with some bridges . But i have found some problems regarding the setup.asm file that might give some light on this subject. Last night i was editing this file (setup_mbseq_v3) to change the CS# adress. #define DEFAULT_BANKSTICK_MODE_CS0 2 ; 64k #define DEFAULT_BANKSTICK_MODE_CS1 2 ; 64k #define DEFAULT_BANKSTICK_MODE_CS2 5 ; Mixer Map (using CS2 to ensure compatibility with Atmel EEPROMs which only provide 4 CS addresses) #define DEFAULT_BANKSTICK_MODE_CS3 4 ; Song mode (using CS3 to ensure compatibility with Atmel EEPROMs which only provide 4 CS addresses) #define DEFAULT_BANKSTICK_MODE_CS4 2 ; 64k #define DEFAULT_BANKSTICK_MODE_CS5 2 ; 64k #define DEFAULT_BANKSTICK_MODE_CS6 2 ; 64k #define DEFAULT_BANKSTICK_MODE_CS7 2 ; 64k (this is the default setup) What i notice during the format of the banksticks is this : apparently banksticks CS#2 and CS#3 skip the format process, but what is more strange is that, after the format processes all the others CS# it tries to upload the songs to this same banksticks over and over again, and dont stop. After i change the setup to this. #define DEFAULT_BANKSTICK_MODE_CS0 2 ; 64k #define DEFAULT_BANKSTICK_MODE_CS1 2 ; 64k #define DEFAULT_BANKSTICK_MODE_CS2 2 ; Mixer Map (using CS2 to ensure compatibility with Atmel EEPROMs which only provide 4 CS addresses) #define DEFAULT_BANKSTICK_MODE_CS3 2 ; Song mode (using CS3 to ensure compatibility with Atmel EEPROMs which only provide 4 CS addresses) #define DEFAULT_BANKSTICK_MODE_CS4 2 ; 64k #define DEFAULT_BANKSTICK_MODE_CS5 2 ; 64k #define DEFAULT_BANKSTICK_MODE_CS6 2 ; 64k #define DEFAULT_BANKSTICK_MODE_CS7 2 ; 64k All banksticks are fine and they format (but still have the problem in every start up "formating every power on) So i came to the conclusion that for some reason my banksticks dont support Mixer Maps Storage and Song Mode Storage.
  10. Hi . Same problem. Bought from mike midi shop the bankstick board Bought 24lc512 i/p from farnell. So i decided to make a probe with 1 chip on it, the problem maintains (every power off/on another bankstick format) . i have tried everything, (changing the lines on J4, testing each chip with a prob) (edit the asm, over and over, closing A0, then closing A1....) nothing as changed, and im out of ideas on what to try next.

Problem solved. It was strange i let it cool down for some hours and after that everything went to normal again. I still dont know what the problem was. Hey Tanstaafl looking great that design. Its more fun that way (pdf style) if beginning a new seq, make a print and thats it all stuff in one single page.

Thankx for the support tongenerator. I have found the problem, it was a broken wire inside the insulation running from the core to one of the lcds (problem solved). So i was trying to test the buttons and upload the srio_interconnection_test_v1b, all went well for a couple of minutes then i try ti upload again the seq_v3 app and something strange as occurred, my midi in and out gone. So i try to reconnected again see if i can get that first feedback from the core and nothing. So far i tried to upload apps without the feedback (nothing) re-soldered the cables in MIDI IN and OUT (nothing) Take out the the both pics lcds and dins (nothing) Still the pic is running and as the srio_interconnection_test_v1b application there but i cant upload any other because i aint got no MIDI. Is there a way to solve this ? (i dont have a pic burner)

Today i have started to test the core and the lcds, it seems the core its ok everything is working as it should be. I have tested with the mios application and the core is working, sending and receiving midi. So i unplugged everything and i connected the lcds for testing, and i got this in both of the displays . I have checked both my lcds looking for wrong connections or loose wires, but i have found nothing, i have bought this lcds TEG16610 http://www.411techsystems.com/Ebay/Specs/TEG16610.pdf and acording to the pdf of my lcds and this schem of uccaps http://www.ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_2xclcd.pdf all my connections are good. I have made a screenshot of the mios app sending messages to the lcds but i cant get any feedback from the lcds.

I have made another one (but still in pdf format) I have changed the errors and also some more info (i just folow Tanstaafl layout, by the way Tanstaafl great idea of directing the buttons to the DIN). So if this information is correct i might do the .ps this weekend. http://www.fileshost.com/en/file/71602/mbseq-v3-din-optional-pdf.html P.S tongenerator ????? ????? ????? Great !!

It can be graphical information. Showing for example what is a Shift register in the Din module and how we can use them. The asm setup file its good but for the ones who dont have skills in coding its hard to understand.

In my opinion the SEQ needs a good walktrought, a step by step tutorial with some advance features like assigning buttons and knobs to new functions. The wiki as a lot of info, but also its kind of disperse information. The midibox as a good one, and i think its possible to do another to SEQ. As xcircuit its doesnt compile well on mac, im going to have a friend here tomorow with a pc so i could update and change the errors there.

ok. I have just edit the din pinout table because it seems to me its hard to find pins in the asm file and then figure it out were they are physically . As for asm editing, i just edit my asm file too and i can upload it somewere if someone needs it. i hope this is ok, i mean i think i figure it out :) Heres the pdf (better resolution) http://www.fileshost.com/en/file/71422/mbseq-v3-din-pin-pdf.html If you want TK you can update the original mbseq_v3_din.pdf with this one since the older one does not include the optional buttons or the SR# Pin# numbers p.s im not posting this because of this
  18. This what reads for gputils gputils-0.13.6 is now configured for Build: powerpc-apple-darwin8.11.0 Host: powerpc-apple-darwin8.11.0 Source directory: . Installation prefix: /usr/local C compiler: gcc -g -O2 and this for gpasm gpasm-0.13.6 beta for sdcc SDCC : mcs51/gbz80/z80/avr/ds390/pic16/pic14/TININative/xa51/ds400/hc08 2.5.4 #1189 (Dec 30 2005) (UNIX) i install gputils from scratch and the problem was in the gputils package. My previous install was 0.12 replace with this new one 0.13, and voilá problem solved
  19. good stuff sinesurfer. I have done all things, but i still get "unknown-00-11-24-25-99-a5:~/Desktop/midibox_seq_v3_3c-1 ricardowebbens$ make rm -rf *.cod *.lst *.err rm -rf *.hex gpasm -p p18f4620 -I./src -I ./include/asm -I ./include/share -I ./modules/app_lcd/dummy -I ./modules/iic_midi -I ./modules/j5_io -I ./modules/aout setup_mbseq_v3.asm make: gpasm: Command not found make: *** [setup_mbseq_v3.hex] Error 127" I have installed gputils, my user/local/bin , its the way it should be and also sdcc reads good when i call it. Any ideas?

Hello and thanks for your kind help. I tough this was a community to help people who wants to build there own machines, not experts, but regular people with no hardware and programing skills . From what i can see you guys are all experts and im the one regular here. In a forum i think in my opinion the basic function its to share information and not hide behind some misinformation only because you spent hours finding that same information. "if the guy who invented the wheel didn't share its info on how its done, we would all be carrying rocks by hand" Dont judge me wrong because im a very persistent person in finding solutions for my problems, so im just sad that people here prefer to keep the knowledge to themselves. "Life on its own presents us with many problems, no one needs for others to present us with some more just to feel superior" All i want to do, its "Edit the ASM for all the Optional additional buttons on seq v3" Im sure that someone somewhere do this already, i dont intent to pursue a carrier out of coding, and all im asking its a simple help

No need to get rude with me...if my words were offensive to you i apologize. 1 im on a mac ppc system so Dos doesnt mean nothing to me 2 i have read all the info before and have installed the applications i need gputils and sdcc for my system also i have installed xcode and start to using it to open the asm files. 3 since i dont know nothing about coding, i even find in the setup_seq.asm the lines i need to change. 4 what i dont know its how and what i should do with them.(i know that i need to compile the source and then make an .hex file, but i cant seem to find how this is done,i have read a lot in this past hours and since i dont understand 70% of what i read i think even then i came pretty far. 5 i dont like the way you are talking to me "futureman" and i really feeling offended by your words, because im new at this stuff and its the first time in my life that i look into something so strange that is codding. 6 im willing to learn and to pass information "if i can to others"

im really not lazy.... ;) So i have found that you can burn via sysex (midi) using miostudio, i have found also the source code and asm files that i need, know i need to assign manually the available ports to din pin. Can someone guide me trough this process i dont know nothing about code and i dont understand how to update this asm files.

oki Hi feelers im just starting to begin soldering the buttons when i noticed that - Group Select 1/2/3/4 - Trigger Layer A/B/C ,- Step View 1-16/17-32 is featuring in my design but not on the pin assigns on Din. After a small reading i came to the conclusion that i need to edit the .asm file (dont really know whats that..)and then burn the pic again :(. I dont have a pic burner and i dont really dont know what to do. Should i loose the configuration that i made and go with the default one? I dont really know nothing about code even if i got a pic burner i still dont know what to do with one. Also im pretty shure that my pic comes with the default setup .

Hi im back from holidays and i have received some more components, but the push buttons that i was going to purchase are unfortunately out of stock, so i have decided buy this ones (which are in stock and ready for order) http://pt.farnell.com/146203/electrical-circuit-protection/product.us0?sku=fujitsu-fes311161 but i have a question, in the datasheet it says "spno momentary" are this good for the seq v3 ?
