  1. Well, loosing hope here in finding chips, the "ethernetmidi-0.0.2.zip" file or equals to match. Guess I'll have to go for the XP version after all.. hmmmm... Still no one that has any kind of working "MIDI port forwarding" sollution for Windows 98 OR a Linux dist. that supports older LPT, Serial and USB interface's to be used as MIDI slaves?
  2. Hi! Anyone having two or maybe three GM5 chips for sale? If located in Sweden that would be great otherwise postal could work as well. /Bigstone
  3. ok.. hopefully there is someone sitting with two or more chips than they need. I will have to check this out! Thank you Thorsten!
  4. Well, that's one thought...seems a bit sad to ruin it since it works flawless otherwise though. Ain't those GM5 chips out of stock? Fiddled around but couldn't find any for sale and as of the bulk order is up to 86 of 250 it would take some time to get those... but they're cute little thingies! ;) So.. anyone that possible having a file called "ethernetmidi-0.0.2.zip" somewhere on their HDD or on a CD/DVD backup?
  5. Upgraded my systems recently to Windows 7 and "SCHWOPP!" all my midi interface's was gonners. So what to do? 1. Find hacked win98/xp drivers to win7? Tuff luck! 2. Run XP in VMWare and hope youl'd get the drivers to work from within? Hmm.. might work.. 3. Make a slave win98 machine and forward it all over LAN to the new one? Now we're talking! (4. The slave win98 machine forwards all ports to a "MIDI to Serial converter" program and..TADAA! you are forwarding 8 or 12 COM ports via LAN and then converts the COM's to MIDI ports again on the Win7 machine...Hmmm.. serious latency risk? Probably but.. could work! Any full RAW MIDI to Serial to MIDI converters out there?) So.. the problem is to find a program that works by the following orders: * Support to work under both Win98, XP and Win7. * Able to forward 8 or hopefully even more MIDIports. * Bidirectional function. * Support FULL MIDI, SystemExlusive that is. * Freeware (or a least affordable for the one with a very slim budget. So those $79,99 commercial versions is off.) Any suggestions? Tobias Erichsens rtpMIDI is great but only supports XP and not Win98 which tends to be the problems in 99,5% of all those I found out there. I need the win98! Got some old LPT interface's and serials that wont run under XP. Known programs (all nonwin98 compliant or not accessable): Copperlan rtpMidi - XP, Free! ethernetMIDI (http://www.linuxsampler.org/ethernetmidi/) Works in Win98 but only the sourcecode remains at the server, no zip file. :hmm: ipMIDI MIDI over LAN Anyone?
  6. ...... eehh... Hah! Never thought about that hehe, great, thank's for the tip stryd_one! :) (Great forum this is! ;) ) So, that is the way then? .......Well... Better get on to it! Will get back with how it proceeds.
  7. Yepp... the "Want it know!" feelings are the best way for a complete project disaster. :D Sweaped through the forum and found some threads and a "How-to-retrofit/midify-Guide" made by illogik. http://www.midibox.org/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=midiboxfx_-_midifiying_analog_gear It was a great help and had some great links to external sites. (Man, where do people get all those heavy ideas of building monsters like those HUGE modulars?!! :o Impressive! And... Where the -censored- do they get the hours/months/years to complete there projects?! ??? ) Well, there is the "But" thing with the Korg though. However, I happened to get my hands on to the service manual to the Poly61 and hope that it will reveal some answers according the pots. One possible way could be to use both a MIOS core AND the p6retro. Letting the p6retro taking care of the keyboard things and the MIOS to make the magic with the rest of button and joy thingies. Demands two midi channels but.. less interference with keyboard and probably a happy Poly61 owner?! Waste of cpu power perhaps? Just another solution. Thought's?
  8. Thank's Futureman! Well, I saw that one Youtube, great solution but still, I'd like the program change to work and the joy. It should not be to complicated, right? I mean, one core, a DOUT + cmos 4066 or fet's for simulation of key pressing, program changes and a AOUT + a switch to alter between the midi mode and stand alone for the joy, volume, arpeg. etc. . I would guess that making some parallel arrangements with the pots on the joy might cause problems therefore the switch. A kind of simple human "Fingers-Simulator". :) Not impossible right? I have a core, made it some years ago but it never came into use (SHAME! I know, please!) but I never had the time to make the project get going due to some "minor-happenings" in life and that project to stagnate... so now I just wonder if/what I need to do anything with the MIOS software to make this work. (No, I haven't read trough the forum as I should... yet, some where in here I would probably find all I need to know but are to eager to getting started. ;) Guess some of you knows the feeling?) Regards /Bigstone
  9. Hi I have a Poly-61 standing in a corner being a bit jealous of those others having midi. So, I'd like to midify it some how. Anyone here done it already and could give me some short how to? (I have a Core mod. that I intended to make a SID synth with but this mission seems much more urgent.) Great if the joy (pitch/DCO/VCF) could be in the game and just not only the keyboard. Switching presets is also a wish. As allready asked, anyone done this or having a guide "how to"? /Bigstone
  10. Stumbled accross this interesting page on how to use a old wracked HDD's motor as a cheap rotary encoder. :) http://users.tkk.fi/~jwagner/electr/rotary-enc/ Not sure if this is the right place for this hint but then please move it to the right location. Hope this is usefull for some one more.
  11. Just being a bit curious, what schematic capturing program is TK using, Eagle or is it still the XCircuit? Really like the way the schematics are made. I'm using Eagle (freeware version) now as a newbie but the schematic's are at the level of functional diagrams, you will not see a DIL package just the "correct schematic" version of an 74HC165 as an ex. . With the IC package in front of you it's much easier to have an overview. Perhaps that is possible with Eagle but I don't know how to. Suggestions? (Also trying to learn EDWin at work but it constantly lacks of some very common components that you have to create on your own. This is verry rare in Eagle. ;) )
  12. The flipp thing was really a cool idea... hmmmm... ;) Thought about Nixie tubes.. quite a nice warm light in the studio darkness. :) So.. after some troubleshooting and debugging due to some minor hardware/software/driver issues it is now under develop. Will be back with some more info. as soon as it comes in some progress.
  13. Things is geting along so to speak. ;) Got some good news that might bring hope and eventually some glory. About to test a host that is possible to re-define for our needs here. There still is people out here with the true spirit of non profit but pure "I'll give you a hand mate" mind. Cheers to those folks! ;D Says as the guy with the hevey allergic reaction in one of his eyes and with a touch of a Austrian accent -"I'll be back!" 8) (You know...Terminator.)
  14. Posted the question of geting a VST patchname to an external LCD on to the dev.forum of Tobybear prod. .
  15. WEOW! Now that would really be something! "Lets se... Low Bas... 23..." -"FLRRRRRRRRRRT! BLING!" Hahahaha! ;D
