  1. Hello everyone, i've just found these two hd44780 compliant displays at amazon: 20x4 white letters on blue background - 6.69 € - http://www.amazon.de/Display-Anzeigen-Zeichen-kompatibel-HD44780/dp/B00ALNHTVY/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top 16x2 white letters on blue background - 3.29 € - http://www.amazon.de/HD44780-Module-Display-Anzeigen-Zeichen/dp/B009GEPZRE/ref=pd_sim_ce_1
  2. wow, this is an enormous frontpanel! however, i am not sure if the quantity of all those dedicated LEDs and Buttons will simplify the use of fm synthesis. i am aware that modeling fm sounds is not that linear compared to classic subtractive sounds, but linking every parameter to a single haptic element instead of burring them into a fragmented displaymenu wont solve the problem in my opinion. i really liked the "quick set" concept of the old frontpanel, maybe selected extensions and using a larger display together with a new menu structure would do the job? Regards, Nasrudin
  3. many keyboards only allow a limited count of buttons pressed together. also there is a noticable delay between pressing the button and the requested event.
  4. How about Cubase? i am using it since Version 5 (currently 6.5) and i am very happy with it. if youre going to compose some tracks which shall be recorded with real musicans: cubase has a builtin scoring editor which allows to convert your composition into note sheets. I've allready used this features 2 times and i can really recommend it. The builtin effects are very well sounding. depending on the version you buy you get a first class convolution reverb, too. the new synths - Padshop and Retrologue do sound really good and are easy to program.
  5. How about a different approach? going into the circuit of the 808 soundmodules, you could probably replace the pots with different op amp circuits. this way, you can connect the controlvoltage input of your amp circuit to an Aout_NG modul. this solution requires a bit more effort, but the result would be way more satisfying. of course you could do the automation the oldschool way: record the repeating sequence while turning the nobs. get a friend to help if you need more than two hands (actually, this was the common way of mixing an album in big studios before faderautomation was invented).
  8. maybe you could cut away the the part of the LCD-PCB that stands beside the Display and solder the the wires to the traces manually. it would be a difficult task, but can be sucessfull if the needed traces are available on the backside of the remaining PCB.
  9. Hi Endernumea, i've started a similar project for cubase 6/7. I'd like to have a transport- / plugin- / mixer remote controller. advice: save money for motor faders. you will love them, i promise you :-) suggestion for the v-pots: why not preparing specific scenarios for your pots? for example: when you have to modify your EQ parameters, you probably want your v- pots alligned similar to an analog mixer.
  10. some information concerning your issue with the "unreachable upper 5%": This information was extracted from the product description on watterot.com. i am not familar with modifying core32 applications, but it should be possible to output the full range of midi values by doing a small mathematical error computation. here is my idea: the core32 ADC has a maximum range from 0 to 3.3 Volts, if i remember right. therefore, the ADC has a gain of 3.3, offset is 0. the output range of the IR sensor is 0.4 to 2.7 Volts. IR gain is 2.3, offset is 0.4 In order to convert the captured real data into the expected range we have to write a small function which does the following calculation: i am not sure if a similar option is allready included into the code, i just wanted to share the general concept of dealing with this kind of problem (without the need of aditional electronic parts). contra of this solution: reduces resolution. Cheers, Nasrudin
  11. Der Download funktioniert nicht und die eingeblendete Werbung verärgert meinen Virenscanner... o.0
  12. Nice Photos! Two Questions: - Where did you get those illuminated Buttons from? - It should be named YAT"C", Shouldn't it? ^^
  13. Hello Sauraen, There isn't much stuff available that is free, high quality and royalty free at the same time. A good adress would be imho DSK-Music. they have made a pretty good soundfont collection, which is sold for 25 dollars in different file formats. Of course, 25 dollars is not free but a payable amount of money. you can check der site for several samples. http://www.dskmusic.com/high-quality-instruments/ cheers, Nasrudin
  14. Hallo ADK, ich würde ebenfalls 1 Satz nehmen: 1* YMF262, 2*YAC512 Gruß Nasrudin
  15. AH now i understand. you want to reduce volume of source 3 in order to get a well balanced signal from mixout (Pin 1 J3). In this case increasing the value of R14 should do the thing. PS: i dont think that thermal noise will play a noticable role in here since amplification of the op amp is set to 10 (only).
  16. i am no expert in audio circuit design but the easiest way would be reducing the signal gain by using a voltage divider. For example, you could replace the 100k resistor (from those highpassfilters) at the op amp inputs with a (logarithmic?) potentiometer. connect pin 1 to the 1uF Cap, pin 2 to the pos. input of the op amp, and 3 to GND. you should now be able to set and reduce the input gain of each source individually to zero. EDIT: Dont you worry about signal coupling when merging the three sources via those 2.2k resistors?
  17. psst, a hint for you: x0xsh0p.de has a limited offer about 10 9 kits for only 240 €. checkout ebay ;-) (this is no advertisment but a tip, because i know about the high prices of the rare parts)
  18. i dont know about the supplies of adafruit, but x0xsh0p.de still sells complete kits (including rare parts).
  19. Compatibility mostly depends on the LCD driver. Could you please provide a datasheet about the display you would like to connect?
  20. Hello KnoRG, generally, it is possible to realise your idea since the manual of Phoscyon promises the GUI to be fully controlable via MIDI. it also looks like that you can control the VST fully without using the additional menus - perfect. before buying the Vmachine you should checkout its compatibility with Phoscoyn, since compatibility is not guaranteed. my two cents: Buying all that stuff including the plugin will cost you more than 300 $. i dont know how well this VST sounds compared to an original TB303, however you could buy a x0xb0x DIY kit instead (very good constructed tb303 Clone) for around 290$, allowing you to have a real analog synth with modern features like midi etc. Cheers, Nasrudin
  21. Tzacks wantw to build his own hardware around the YMF262. Therefore this has has nothing to do with drumkits or midibox. if you are familiar with assembler, you could take a look at the source code of midibox_fm ( SVN repository)
  22. Hello Eddi, There are allready 2 official projects based on the mackie emulation protocol (popular protocol among all popular DAWs): Midibox LC Midibox NG midibox lc is based on the old core which means you have to accept several limitations. midibox ng will be the successor of the LC, since it combines everything you need to control a DAW: - support of mackie emulation protocol, integration of motorfaders, pots, encoders, buttons etc. unfortunately midibox NG hasn't been released yet (i am waiting for myself on it), since thorsten wanted to focus his work on several other projects first. my advice: wait for mb_ng, it'll possibly be the easiest way to realise your idea.
  23. Hallo Marxon, Falls du noch niemanden gefunden hast, ich helfe dir gerne. Melde dich via PM. Gruß Nasrudin
