  1. Long time I didn't come to this forum. If you want to chain cores, the easiest way is to make your own MIDI cable and connect J12 and J13. I guess you had to fit the 5-pin DIN connectors if only to be able to upload MIDIO128 and the pin configurations. This is what I've done for my own rig (currently 2 COREs, another one to come later). See e.g. http://soundsparks.blogspot.fr/2010/03/diy-midi-cables.html (found after a quick googling) if you need information about how to build a MIDI cable. Make them long enough so that they don't bend too much. About 1 to 1.5 inch slack is nice. You still have to enable MIDIO128's midi merger (end point/forwarding point) on each CORE. Hope that helps.
  2. Hi, It's awfully late, but would you happen to still have 1 CORE 8 and a couple of DINS ? PM sent

  6. wrong contrast pot setting  ?
  7. I found this link veeeeryyyyy useful when building a PIC core from Smash.
  8. Thanks. That's what I feared.
  9. I made a big dumb mistake. I connected the 16-pin connector 'upside-down' and I managed to feed Vs to D5 and Vd to D4 of the LCD. When connected the right way, the LCD displays correctly only the 8 leftmost characters of both lines, the 8 rightmost display only a black rectangle. The core runs MIDIO128 and all seems OK, so I suspect I've fried the LCD. Just need a confirmation from the forum hardware gurus that I must trash my LCD and get another one. Many thanks
  10. Congratulations to the happy mother. Be prepared to floods :o)
  11. It's not exactly so. I did compile a few days ago and I had to extract in this directory tree: /juce /trunk /mios32 This way, it did compile without a glitch.
  12. Did you install the E-MU Windows driver ? I can't remember where I found (very recently) that the Windows USB-Midi generic driver is broken when you want to do SYSEX transfers, and that the XMidi works fine when the E-MU drivers are installed. Downloadable at http://www.emu.com/support/files/download2.asp?Centric=1009&Platform=1
  13. Well, if you're completely new to electronics, maybe you'd better "train" on the DINs & DOUTs which are said to be more resilient (and far less expensive than the CORE if you break something). I'm in the process of midifying an old analogue organ console, started with the pedalboard and keyboards rewiring, up now to about 400 desolder, rewire and resolder of the contact pins, and still not happy with the results. I imagine I'll train some more on the keyboards before I start on the PCBs
  14. I went to the store last week. They wanted to sell a switching PSU. Is it useable for MIDIO128 only, or should I purchase a more "classic" one ? I'll go back there next wednesday to collect my order.
