...as i also wrote in the "MB only for experts" thread" ... there is a chance that a single "controls panel" (the surface where rotary encoders , switches, etc.. are placed / connected) "drive" a "dual core" MidiBox (1 core for sequencer and 1 for the NG synths controller ) switching / jumping between the 2 "cores" onfly to use for example in live performance , when during the sequencer "core" run the song , the control panel surface can be switched to the other "core" (synth controller) for real time sound edit ? or it's required a "cross" switcher / device unit placed between the controls panel surface and the 2 "cores" ?

template / patches exchange is a so important option it is possible do it "onfly" or require to stop the "main" sequencer (for avoid midi overflow/crash) ?

But personally i (and so many others) can't start (buying all parts) something that i'm not sure to complete , for me is something like run "blindfolded" in the middle of a grove……., can you imagine the "concept" ? (not properly pertaining to the sense of intelligence…. ) but different thing would be if the various MidiBox projects were supported with "serious" video tutorials , step by step pdf guides, etc.. ok the forum would remain the "lighthouse" in the middle of the "sea" , as "main" home for, post , talk…. , solutions for issues , post images about cool MidiBox in build progress and finished, but there is really no way to make the software part of MidiBox more simpler and "accessible" for those so wide number of musicians that are not C-code experts "handlers" ? Which, however are looking for a serious solid (no cheap plastic and parts..) controller / programmer that has good number of : rotary encoders , function switches , lcd displays, ribbon strips, etc.. for fast, direct, program,edit (with fun) … the hardware and software synths , (not available on the market , neither the so f… absurdly expensive controller for pro tools that work only with their "tools"...)

Yess correct so lot of informations , and no video tutorials or step by step guides (about software) , although online from many years , and Yessssss i fully agree , very electronics talented good guys in this forum !!! and also thanks for support offer and encourages !!! unfortunately it's also true that i have many post without any reply ! But the "core" of the "matter" don't change (unfortunately)

This means you have a so big "talent" for electronics and software , (that most part of musicians do not have) why you did not do the related school ? ….anyway sorry , unfortunately i have so serious difficulties to believe it

As i wrote … , i agree about that MdiBox is a great start "point" to get a customized controller , it have most of the necessary options about , but set a unit as desired require C-Code "manipulation" by experts , it is not like a "simple" firmware update-exchange , or synth sound banks backup-restore by midi exclusive code , and about some good video tutorial would be really a great help , …….then a very big part of potential users remains excluded , unfortunately. This was the first reason why i checked (during sleepless nights) very tons of info from Ucapps archive and MidiBox forum , the "target" was / still is a remote controller with a quantity of rotary encoders with led position , function switches , lcd displays as well, for sound program on various Synths hardware (with poor controls panel) & software (without controller) in the fastest way possible , then as any Synth (soft & hard) have a proper midi channel assigned on the sequencer midi track , the controller unit must provide the possibility to jump between Synths (hard & soft ) selecting the midi track on the software sequencer computer based , like with a classic masterkeyboard do for play the synth or sound expander assigned to midi track and relative midi channel . ( have seen the MidiBox NG you built , so very nice unit !!! ….. i friendly "envy" you ) "TK" is a so incredible guy , the sequencer was the second reason of my endless nights on MidiBox docs and info , firstly my interest is on the synth programmer , but a good hardware sequencer "crash free" for live performances as second project is highly considered , …….. overall if it give the possibility to drive synth filters on fly during/over the play of midi tracks... but as said above , without good video tutorials , or step by step well described / explained guides about the software section , i see it much impossible for not C-code experts .

After a number of years running up-down-in-out of dozens and dozens and dozens of threads , thousand of posts and hours dedicated / missed to get all info and helps necessary to complete a MidiBox Unit (Hui controller ,"NG", Sequencer), at the end for all projects a very extensive knowledge of the C-Code is essential for get a full working unit (unfortunately) , i.m.h.o. MidiBox is a great project because the true "Force" of this device is the possibility to obtain a customized device controller not available on the market , (ok so true it require a large number of hours for soldering and assembly (time is money!!! ) + parts cost ) considered that many used midi-usb controllers can be found today for very low price , seem to really not have logical "sense" start with a MidiBox project , But (as wrote above) the fact that a customized controller device not available on the market can be obtained with the MidiBox projects give to this Device a very strong "force point" , that said , the "issue" about the extensive knowledge of the C-Code required is a so big limit / stumbling block for a large number of "potential" users , that have the sufficient electronic knowledge for assembly/soldering the hardware required , but not for the software settings/customizations , then the question is : There is really not a way to make the "software" project part more "friendly" and simple ? 8-I

Can we call it "Advanced MidiBox Controller" ? it is completed or under developement ? cheers

Just for ask if anybody checked the "Learn" option on Ableton Live , Propellerheads Reason , and other similar tools for set/map control templates with midibox as controller , thanks in advance for post.

Thanks for post !!! please correct me if i'm wrong : then moving the mackie C4 rotary encoders , the midi messages go inside the core of midibox , where they are redirected to external midi sound generators destination parameters , i.e. : in the midibox core "firmware" the midi messages received from mackie C4 rotary encoder n°1 , have to be setted to go to a : midi out port -> midi channel 1-16 -> function/paramter n° 0->128 ? like a "translator" ? thanks in advance z.

Ok , thanks for info ! but as i need , mackie C4 do not have 4 separate assignable midi out , and about a properly midibox hardware configuration is necessary, but i cannot found info if a single core can drive 4 or 6 indipendent midi output (each with 16 midi ch) or if it work as the "vintage" old midi trhu box where 1 midi input was connected in "parallel" to 4,6,8 midi output , but only 16 midi channels available overall , then midi input of the sound generators (synths,samplers,etc...) must be setted properly (each with a number of midi ch , .....flexible but not too much , also midi overflow always "lurking" because all data addressed to a single midi port/chip ) for avoid wrong midi commands "address. Here a partial bom list about , (please post any "valid"info that can help) 32 rotary encoders - better if have also push button function ? a number of digital input hardware for drive led rings push buttons for patches program , save and load , patches memory bank scroll ,etc.... (for patches memory bank scroll ,save and recall a rotary encoder+push button as "enter" function it's the right one , as in "mb sid") other more ? thanks in advance z.

thanks for post i posted the c4 image only as layout example my "dream" programmer is as i described in the first post (with attached image) need to control 1 to 6 "external" midi sound "generators" and or combined setup with virtual instruments /plug ins, this type of setup require a programmer that can be configured in a "multi" mode (as described in the first post) to allow to edit different indipendent sound generators at the same time (each sound generator connected to 1 of the 4/6 programmer midi out) or a "hybrid" situation/setup , stand alone sound generators(synths,samplers...) and virtual instruments/plug ins for a "fast speed" sound editing , z.

Hello , looking for a stand alone "multi" devices remote "unit" as midi synth / daw programmer to use as midi remote "multi" control / programmer for synths / expanders that don't have dedicated panel with pots or faders , for direct access parameter , also for virtual instruments / plug ins , as well . fot speed up programming process . checked around but found nothing as dedicated and programmable "universal" hardware programmer unit like dedicated access for waldorf microwave , pg1000 for d50 , etc... I seen various software tools for ipad , but work with only 1 unit at time (unfotunately) and "i.m.h.o." a rotary control (virtual pot) cannot be managed in the best way by swiping a finger over a lcd screen , (unless it is graphically represented by a slider) The "true" midi "programmer" unit I'd like to have in my sound generators hardware (and virtual synth/plug ins) setup it's a device similar to mackie C4 layout (attached image) with 4 (or more) rotary encoders raws (each raw with 8 rotary encoders) each raw with a display (as the C4), 4/6 separate midi output , usb port (as well ), a number of push buttons for : setups, assign, entry , save-recall, also a rotary encoder with push/enter function for fast patch number scroll/selection load-save. Still looking for a unit with 24/32 rotary pots (8 rotary are not enough) Include Lcd , for "True" real time control Synths and plug ins in pro tools ... but nothing more ..around ...
