The BCR2000 was once a successful midi controller, which today many professional producers or do not continue to use, some hate it, others love it. There is an interesting modification that turns the BCR into a midi sequencer by means of a firmware modified for this purpose, more info at https://zaqaudio.com/ This device was a more practical than beautiful product and it fell short in terms of, for example, the lack of the LCD and the quality of some internal components, especially the push buttons, which end up failing with time and use. In this device all the pushbuttons were changed, if you have problems with any internal component visit this page http://www.knutsel.org/2010/09/14/behringer-bcr2000-2/ This midi controller has been modified to add an LCD that shows the midi data of the midi outputs A and B of the device itself, thus improving the original design whose LED display shows this information in a very basic way. In addition, a midi merger with 4 inputs and 1 output has been added and the midi A and B outputs have been doubled, this the merger circuit, is based on the (version 001) that can be found at https://www.sonelec-musique.com/ The lcd is controlled by a programmable 18F452 PIC, with a DIY system based program available at http://ucapps.de/midimon.html This is one of the version based on pic 18F452, currently more modern and powerful versions based on core 32 modules are available, more information about the drivers at http://wiki.midibox.org/doku.php?id= mbhp The idea of modifying the sides started from this page https://www.witchmastercreations.com/tutorial-wooden-panels-for-behringer-bcr2000-midi-controller/ The lcd shows the midi data arriving at the BCR and or generates the BCR itself and is obtained from outputs A or B (not from usb) which are selected by a switch on the rear panel. The data is displayed as cc numbers or as the controller name, this is also selected with another switch, on the rear panel. Adding this lcd midimon requires soldering to obtain the midi data from the A and B outputs, they must be isolated with optocouplers so as not to damage the midi signal, also in this specific device it is necessary to section the terminals of the midi connectors to duplicate the outputs A and B . The midimon circuit and the duplicator of outputs A and B are mounted on the same board and the midi merger has been mounted on its own board and its operation is independent from the rest, it only uses the 5v power supply from the BCR. The duplicator circuit of outputs A and B in turn derives the midi data to the midi input of the PIC 18f452 by means of the 74ls14 IC and the 6n138 optocloparators. The assembled version is the pic because the circuit has been riding for a long time, but due to family and health circumstances, I couldn't ride it until some time ago, also I don't have a lot of free time so when I want to ride something, I go rather well. slow. I have made a small video of the modification so that it is better understood what it consists of --->>>>
