  1. Hey thank's for the great responses... I was just wondering that's all. A speech / formant update is far in the future i guess. I think I'll go with the "Das Boot" sounding Speakjet: Thank's Suicide Sushi
  2. Hello Midiboxers. I build a MB6582 almost a year ago, and I absolutely love it. I use it alle the time when recording. I was wondering; on the web I discovered that speech synth software was produced for the C64 during the early 80s (SAM etc.). Is there a way to add speech synth capabilities to the Midibox SID? (Or maybe it could be a part of a future upgrade) That would be very very cool... Thank's again to TK and all you guys for making my MB6582 possible. I love it to bits... :D Suicide Sushi
  3. For other (SID nerds) interested in gated sounds, â€trancegate†is mentioned in the wavetable sound tutorial. Now I really need to understand how to work with wavetables.
  4. Hey TK. I will dig into the world of Wave Tables. Thank's  Suicide Sushi
  5. Hello everyone. I'm trying to do some new patches for my MB6582 (and for you guys if they end up being good enough). What I really want to do is some gated sounds/pads (ie. trancegated). How would you program that? I was thinking about using the LFO's on the volume parameter. But I'm not interested in simple 8/8 gated sounds. So maybe I should use several LFO's? I know there is a "factory preset" sound that has a complex gated rhythm. So it must be possible. Any pointers? Thanks Suicide Sushi
  6. ooohhhh... I didn't realise it included a drum editor as well... That is wicked!. Thank's...
  7. Okay. Thank's. I just recieved an old SSM2044 chip from ebay as a backup for my KORG Mono/poly, and I have a finished midibox. So I was wondering if it was worth a try. But then I would need two SSM2044's to get that gritty stereo SID sound. Would you then control the SSM2044 from the MB6582's control panel? Does the SID generate the envelope for the filters? It sounds pretty exciting.
  8. [n00b question] How would you control the SSM2044 filters? Is it easy to connect to the rest of the Midibox?
  9. Hello everyone. Firstly, I really really enjoy my MB6582 a lot. I've used it a lot in the studio, and it seems to fit sonically in almost everything I do. I really really like the sound of the Midibox SID drummachine, but it's a bit "hard" to program. Is there a piece of software for programming the Midibox SID's drum engine via midi? It would be a really nice feature. Jeppe / Copenhagen
  10. uh... okay. So the SID's would still generate a lot of heat even without the 12v/9v? I think I'll remove the SIDs and then apply some heatsink to the remaining 2 SIDS. By the way I just had my first jam with the MB6582 drum machine - and it is completely awesome! I love it so much...
  11. Hello everyone. So i finished my MB6582 and I really love it. I was in the studio recording with it some time ago and the engineer told me that he thought I could reduce a lot of the background noise by unplugging the fan. I had the synth open due to som SID stuffing, and I tested it out. The engineer was right. The background noise (sounded LFO'ish) completely dissapeared and I could now plug it into a PA without annoying everyone around. I then decided to unpower all the SID's except channel four (2*8580) and then unpluck the fan. I have 7 SID's stuffed into my MB6582 and disconnected 5 of them by unplugging the power jumper (i never really used all the SID's at once). Is that safe? Will I damage anything by using my MB682 with all my SID's in it but with 5 of them disconnected from 12v (6581's) via power jumpers? Thank's! Suicide Sushi Love the MIDIBOX! EDIT: Can anyone point me in the right direction to the feedback potentiometer info? I need to know what kind of pot (linear v logarithmic and resistance) i need? Thank's!
  12. Yes. Theres plenty c64's. In Denmark at least... I fitted my MB6582 with 5 * 6581 and 1* 8580. The 8580 seems a lot more stable and easyer to control... I like the osc sound of the 6581 but they are really quirky/buggy, and the filter is quite low... Good luck!!
  13. Soooo. Where did you order your SID's from? Ebay? Any tips ? Very nice MB6582. Your gonna love it...
  14. He he sure nILS. What screws would you recommend? BTW. I was in the studio last night and we used a DSI Prophet 800 as mother keyboard for the MB6582. Funny enough it seemed like fitteling with the prophet 800 knobs changed some values on the MB6582. When we turned down the master volume on the prophet the MB6582's volume went down etc. Thats kind of need. We used one of the "exotic" waveforms on the 8580 SID (Sq + saw I think) and it fitted on the track like butter on hot bread. It sounds absolutely dirty and awesome... Again. Thanks! Next project is a midi input for my Tama Techstar drum machine. Like this dude did. Maybe a midibox would do the job.
  15. Hello Midiboxers. Heres some pics of my new MB6582. It sounds awesome. I would like to thank everyone on this forums for your help. I would especially like to thank: TK, Wilba, SmashTV, Hawkeye and nILS. I still need some knobs for the CS, and I would like to go with som Korg Mono/poly style ones. But they are hard to find. My LCD backlight went dead last night, and I think I need an new LCD. Maybe one with a different shape to put the display closer to the CS. Oh and it is stuffed with 4*6581 ('83-'84), 1* 6581R5 ('86) and 1* 8580 ('90). I'll need at least one more 8580 to get that awesome stereo sound. One thing that surprised me when I booted it for the first time was the amout possibilities with the Midibox SID v.2. software. It is pure awesome. I took the liberty of adding my MB6582 to the officiel build list as the latest (127). I hope it's okay. Lastly. Thank's for making this possible guys! Sorry about the "whiteout" on some of the pics. My Blitz is too hot. And sorry about the (at times) dumb questions. :geek: Heres a small recording I did as my first sound test. The drums are Waldorf Attack and I used the sysex editor for SID manipulation. Please listen to the Vimeo version, as the Youtube one sounds like Sh*t. Suicide Sushi
  16. Okay. I have found the error. It's a bit embaressing, and all I can say is that it is a real good idea to stuff the right IC's in their right place  . Thanks Suicide Sushi
  17. Okay I think that I've identified the problem. It seems that 2 of the spacers that I glued to the front panel were limiting some of the movement of the front panel. It needed at tad of free space to one side. The spacers were too close to the pots and I decided to remove them (the 2 spacers). It almost fits now, and I'm confident that I will solve this "challenge" with some patience. Thanks for the replys!
  18. e Yeah. I'm quite satisfied with what Schaeffer did with my frontpanel. Im going for the lab test equipment look. The front panel and the CS PCB fitted nicely before I soldered the tactile switches. I used the links you posted in your nice guide Hawkeye and i'm quite sure the switches are the right ones. I only used the parts you linked to. But i should have fitted one part at a time and then soldered it... Ufortunately I didn't. But I will need to think about how to solve this problem best. :logik: Thanks!
  19. Maybe some people from the "Demo scene" are still using C64's. This demo is awesome btw  : . Even though it's on an emulator.
