  1. About all schools in the district is closed, I have 80cm snow in my garden. No chance of digging out the car at all. It's only a coincidence that I had to stay home with sick kid today, but I would never make it to work today anyway. I hit the snowy streets with my backpack and actually walked to the grocerystore. Took tons of pictures - super nice! - Snowfall 12.12.12 will never be forgotten!

Hehe, this kind of snow is extremely rare in my area - I live by the coast of south-west, and here we're lucky to get 15cm or so, and even luckier if it doesn't rain away the same afternoon. So this is extraordinary. The former snow record for this area was set in 1961. And yesterday that record was broken in a massive way. Now I wait for the blizzard to wear off, and the rain to start sometime later tomorrow! :)

I'll gladly ship some to your front yard! My whole property is full of white shit! And I'm sure it will all rain into some dirty slurry by the end of the weekend, and the piles will not rain / melt away for months. I told missus, when the blizzard / snow fall is over I'm getting a big tractor down here and transport away all of the shit. Don't need a swamp in my garden the next 6 months! So - yeah - u can have some! A lot! :D

  2. So... heavy snowfall and blizzard finally hit us. Last time wich I can remember it was this way is 15 years ago! 30cm snow in just a couple of hours is extremely unusual around here, I had real problems getting home from work today - had to give up my usual route and find another way home! I got there, and I'm NOT leaving :D

yeah, snowmobile would be VERY handy these days! btw - my office is 25km away - cross country ski trip is SO out of the question ;). No - thank god for the internet - makes it possible to do at least some work from home! hehe.

btw, those pics in the article shows not nearly how bad it really is now - it has been snowing more or less very heavy for 20 hours now!

    Midibox green

Great 3D Work! I just love the toxic green anodizing color :D. Personally I would consider changing the on/off color though. :) What is the black spot in between the glasses? EDIT: On/Off LED? But this looks REALLY great!
  4. Haha it took me æ couple of secs before changing my thoughts from company name to sci-fi movies hehe.

    GM5x5x5

Are u gonna mount the boards inside so that the short side of the PCB show in the window? Maybe mount them 20-30 degrees too, that would make it look really angry :D Need to fit some blacklights in there and fit the surroundings of the PCB with pure white. Would be awesome. Or maybe red PWMed diodes pulsing in there. mmmmmmmm (too much need for speed maybe? :P)
  6. Haha! Awesome Nils! In that light it looks kinda like my wish for a pearl candy / chameleon finish! :D. What color fits u ask? Dude... Black, white, red.. u name it! :D I have always hated the white iStuff appearance, but I found myself quite fond of white cases for my music gear. Though, the one I am working on for LittleSID is black/green fiberglass. Dude, with these PCBs, it's gonna be white for sure! :D

Hehe. Yeah, i know - jet engine is the right word - and u can heat a cold cup of coffie if u put it next to the hot-air-vent. My laptop is a new dell i7 - was about the most powerfull I could get from Dell when I got it some months ago. But Inventor is the first thing I have seen that makes it go all hot like that hehe. I was trying to learn Inventor as I have background in Solid Edge - a slightly different workflow, but very nice. I also drawing up some gm5 cases hehe - but I can't submi...

submit stuff to my "own" competition hehe, so I guess it was just for the sake of learning the software. More drawing tonight for sure!

i working on catia V5 (it also my all day job...) but also worked on Spaceclaim (Just the most creative software for industry and really light software) and doing rendering on keyshot (the easy way ! ) I will try to do some render tonight ! Bye

  8. Hehe hawk, with purple we could take over the world! Oh wait, that didn't go too well. If it all goes sour we can hide out in the grandpa clock.
  9. Ilmenator, yeah. I see the point definetly. Lets discuss it some, and see what we can come up with. The first compo thread needs tidying up anyway, but I have been kinda reluctant to do so until now, because of some confusion about the terms and so on.
  10. Looks cool. It kinds reminds me of CCTV computers hehe. Bad comparison, but that's what came to my mind (might have something to do with my job hehe - enviormental damaged mindset :D)
  11. Hehe ilmenator. Roark, if u don't get to be the lucky one, talk to nils - he might have spares for sale after the last bulk order :). I don't know, but it's worth a shot, no? ;)
  12. Or... You follow the link in my signature field and enter the contest of a case design for the gm5x5x5. There is still very few submitted designs so you can be lucky and win yourself a couple of those boards and the components to go with it. I think we can safely conclude that since there is so little interest to this great competition, that a design where the interfaces are integrated in a rackmount pc can also enter the compo! Please submit your plans in the thread, would be cool to see more people submitting their design! Even if u don't plan to use it in the end, any design is very welcome! Have fun!
  13. Oh happiness and joy! The fifth element on tv. I don't know what it is, but that movie is so nice!

dude, I actually never saw that movie (all of it). Oportunity never presented itself, but I thought of it many times, so nao I have to visit the .x264 online store :D hehe.

Hehe, yeah those cigs are nice. Just sucking the goodies through those long filters will give u all the lung capacity you need alone :D.

  14. Haha T, I didn't even consider that possibility now, but when u mention it I can remember something way back in my mind that I have read something about it, but I think it's a long time ago. But as I stated (and shown to be true) :). It may be a fast way to implement this in my 64E. I will definetly take a dive into the technical aspect of this. I found this topic extremely interesting, and studying this may lead me towards some other cool stuff too. And for MIOS32, I gather there are no plans for implementing this here. In that case, a dedicated mcu would do the job, yeah? It would be interesting for me to do a proof of concept thing on this - to learn more about MCU programming, making the sensors, and details in the capacitive sensor technology. Now, I don't know much about communication between MCUs, and much less I know about that stuff when it comes to doing it with mb apps, but is it possible to use the extra mcu and communicate button press through a databus (but not directly implemented in mios mcu), or do it have to be a MCU that converts the touch to a digital output, and interface that to mios MCU? a pretty simple way to do it (when it comes to understand how it works) but "extremely" complicated hardware wise :P
  15. Didn't you know? We all live in america! :D hehehe EDIT: Paid! :)

Thanks, man - but it will take some serious time... alone the soldering will be a nightmare - 2048 LEDs :) At least, there is J on my side down that dark road :)

  17. Something like this: A little crude looking that one, but this illustrates pretty well what I had in mind. If u use seperate pieces of plexi over the sensor and with one piece of plexi with graphic work on top of that, u could illuminate the buttons with different color / seperate on/off without too much color bleed too :). This is definetly a thing I'm gonna explore deeper!
  18. Sorry if this is mentioned in forum threads before, feel free to hammer me down if so ;). First, my only knowledge about touch sensors comes from this vid and his website: http://pcbheaven.com/circuitpages/PIC_Frequency_Change_Touch_Button/ I saw the video, and I got the urge to replace some of my tact switches on my not-finished mb64e. That type of switches would suit my usage much better than normal tact. switches. In fact I was thinking about it prior to stumbling across this video - that I need some sort of stable button concept for my box with a larger surface than the typical tact switch with a knob. -> A setup of buttons that can be operated without precision working fingers and have a very light touch threshold - and it doesn't get lighter than a capacitive touch sensor :). My thought was to use a dedicated MCU for sensing, and then output that to DIN on the PIC. Maybe even if I get deep in it -> is it possible to make use of some sort of bus com. between the two MCUs...? I have no idea, as I have about zero experience in MCU coding, and what the different ones can do. My question then is - some of you is bound to know something about this shit - can I make several touch sensors like the one in the video (just a dual side PCB or a single side with two regions) and place them under the same piece of plexiglass and still operate them in a stable manner. Of course the sensitivity must be tweaked so that it doesn't start acting as a proximity sensor instead. Will multiple of these sensors work under the same plastic (or whatever) surface? This seems as a bit of work to set up, but it would be a nice alternative to the traditional knobs where u don't need (or don't at all want) the tactile feeling. For example - you could make those PCB sensors, put them under an equal sized plexiglass - illuminate the plexiglass, and then put a thin piece of plexi over that again with your desired graphics work etc... Fantasy working now. Any input would be cool. I could build a test setup myself using analog components like in one of his vids, but if someone of you has experience with touch-stuff it would be cooler to know something before I build it and not after I build it and it doesn't work as expected :). What do ya say? :)
  19. OK. This here is a nice song, but the other little lighting details included is the fulfilment of all my happy dreams :P by FAR the coolest thing I have ever seen in that genre!

  20. I guess i could be interested in this, but would need a bit more info... Is some of it in original package? Is this PCBs from tim? And most interesting, what price would u put on it? I could make u an offer but it would be better if u told me what u would expect, and we cam take it from there... Interesting?
  21. Man, I'm having a hard time finding a low-cost PIC programmer to push some code onto my many 18F452 - suggestions? USB would be rather nice :)

I have an USB programmer that can do 452 but not 4685. I could send it to you if you didn't find an alternative allready. I built myself a Brenner 8 so I don't need it any more.
