As some of u have noticed, I'm rarely inside here these days. This is not because I am tired of you guys, or think less of midibox. It's simply because I am in the process of selling my current house, and moving into my grandma's old house (she died a month ago) - this means a lot of work. Extensions, + total renovation of the old part of the house. I'll be on IRC when I can, and show up here from time to time, but for a time now, I'll be busy with house stuff :).

I'm getting too old!

:) yeah, being 30 means nothing. just think of how long it took you to get from 20 to 30. and we all aim for being 100 and run the marathons we are used to, don't we? i plan to retire with 120 at the earliest :)
-
By the time I reach 120 I plan to start work again. I'm starting a new business then - heavenlySound :D

Hehe, my bro in law had his 50th birthday a couple of years ago. We made a song with the chorus being something like: Now you're 50 years, soon you'll be 60 years, in no time you're 70 years old. Then you'll be 80 years and then comes 90 years, and look how steady the stone stands... doesn't rhyme in english but u get the idea :P

Come home from work, say hi to kid and missus, and go upstairs to the studio to do something about the sudden strike of inspiration that hit me on my way home. And I hear from downstairs: Are you going upstairs now? we dont get to see you? I says yep. Simple answer to a tough question? :P

Hehe. I soldered most of the mb6582 in the livingroom. So I know the answer to that - there's a reason why all my electronics gear and studio gear ended up 2nd floor :P. So I guess it's with her as with most women - they "want both" :D
-
Yeah, that is a known problem - you have an inspiration moment, you can be sure the lady calls for attention - she won´t call when you have no ideas :)
-
inspiration moment?
My wife needs my help exactly at that time

Had a problem connecting an alarm panel to the computer for programming it via USB. Sent a mail to my usual tech support guy, telling him that when I connected the USB to the panel, it started to smoke and small pointy flames comming out of the big caps on the PCB. Hehe, all lies of course, but I enjoy making him sweat a bit :D

Bought new PA for band practice, plus two china edition Beta58 mics from my bro. Supercheap and it works, but not something I would make the audience listen to tho :P

Sharing files in Windows 7 and 8 is about the worst thing I've encountered in my nerd-career. It just does not work the way it is supposed to work.
- Show previous comments 6 more

I couldn't get the Win7 sharing to work.. so I built myself a 6TB NAS server to share my files between my various machines
-
Yep, that's what waiting for me too. Maybe not 6GB, but maybe 4gb. But several other things are more pressing (for my wallet) than a NAS right now, but soon. I have a server, but it's outdated - hardware is old, so I was planning to use it for gateway instead now.
-
@techno: sure, nothing wrong with a fresh OS. hope you'll find a solution to that problem soon.

...gonna be nice to get some knowledge on that too. I just wish I could plug the probe in the back of my head and learn Jijitsu, but I guess that's not how things work hehe. Also working on some dmx->pwm(led and halogen) stuff. Interesting.
-
for me only a couple of 2SC1583 :)

I'm impressed by ebay sellers - emails about "item dispatched" during christmas. It's almost as I wish they took a couple of days off - almost :P

Haz raspbmc running on TV now. If this really works well, all my needs for a REAL embedded media player has come true!

About all schools in the district is closed, I have 80cm snow in my garden. No chance of digging out the car at all. It's only a coincidence that I had to stay home with sick kid today, but I would never make it to work today anyway. I hit the snowy streets with my backpack and actually walked to the grocerystore. Took tons of pictures - super nice! - Snowfall 12.12.12 will never be forgotten!

Hehe, this kind of snow is extremely rare in my area - I live by the coast of south-west, and here we're lucky to get 15cm or so, and even luckier if it doesn't rain away the same afternoon. So this is extraordinary. The former snow record for this area was set in 1961. And yesterday that record was broken in a massive way. Now I wait for the blizzard to wear off, and the rain to start sometime later tomorrow! :)
-
Don't hog all the snow Norway! Sweden needs moar for an even fluffier X-mas :D
-
I'll gladly ship some to your front yard! My whole property is full of white shit! And I'm sure it will all rain into some dirty slurry by the end of the weekend, and the piles will not rain / melt away for months. I told missus, when the blizzard / snow fall is over I'm getting a big tractor down here and transport away all of the shit. Don't need a swamp in my garden the next 6 months! So - yeah - u can have some! A lot! :D
-
So... heavy snowfall and blizzard finally hit us. Last time wich I can remember it was this way is 15 years ago! 30cm snow in just a couple of hours is extremely unusual around here, I had real problems getting home from work today - had to give up my usual route and find another way home! I got there, and I'm NOT leaving :D

Get a proper snow mobile and do it boss style: http://www.break.com/index/snowmobile-mountain-slide-2054735 <- gotta see that vid!
-
yeah, snowmobile would be VERY handy these days! btw - my office is 25km away - cross country ski trip is SO out of the question ;). No - thank god for the internet - makes it possible to do at least some work from home! hehe.
-
btw, those pics in the article shows not nearly how bad it really is now - it has been snowing more or less very heavy for 20 hours now!

Hehe. Yeah, i know - jet engine is the right word - and u can heat a cold cup of coffie if u put it next to the hot-air-vent. My laptop is a new dell i7 - was about the most powerfull I could get from Dell when I got it some months ago. But Inventor is the first thing I have seen that makes it go all hot like that hehe. I was trying to learn Inventor as I have background in Solid Edge - a slightly different workflow, but very nice. I also drawing up some gm5 cases hehe - but I can't submi...
-
submit stuff to my "own" competition hehe, so I guess it was just for the sake of learning the software. More drawing tonight for sure!
-
i working on catia V5 (it also my all day job...) but also worked on Spaceclaim (Just the most creative software for industry and really light software) and doing rendering on keyshot (the easy way ! ) I will try to do some render tonight ! Bye

Can't wait to see it in one of your next videos Hawkeye.

Thanks, man - but it will take some serious time... alone the soldering will be a nightmare - 2048 LEDs :) At least, there is J on my side down that dark road :)
-
OK. This here is a nice song, but the other little lighting details included is the fulfilment of all my happy dreams :P by FAR the coolest thing I have ever seen in that genre!

Man, I'm having a hard time finding a low-cost PIC programmer to push some code onto my many 18F452 - suggestions? USB would be rather nice :)
- Show previous comments 2 more

I recently bought one from Voti:
http://www.voti.nl/shop/catalog.html It's the Wisp648 kit for 32,- euro's. It's a kit with usb but no target PIC socket but lose end cables. Succes
-
Guess i got lucky, i picked up a used Pickit2 on ebay awhile back.
-
I have an USB programmer that can do 452 but not 4685. I could send it to you if you didn't find an alternative allready. I built myself a Brenner 8 so I don't need it any more.

mmmm! king crabs, white bread, potatochips! served directly from artic north sea! delicious! men evening at my granddad in law's place.

Yep, very true. Too bad I can't bring too much into norway... :P Guess that is different within EU.
-
Nowadays it is. In clean-cut Sweden at first the paternal politicians tried to whip us all into the old rations quotas. Screw that. And screw cheese tax ;) Tell u what, if I ever pop by I'll drive some small forest road and fill my car with Falukorv, beer and booze!
-
Hehe nice! Good thing border between norway and sweden aint like USA and Mexico :P
-
This year's November exhibition is finally over. Working saturdays and sundays aint my thing :P. Got a couple of potential big orders though.

Phone back from repair. And those bastards managed to distroy my memory card! Backup.... hmmm I remember something of that name from way back.... Can't rememer what it is though...! C R 4 P!!

News is that today the repair shop concluded that this didn't happen at their bench, therefore not responsible. bla bla bla. Now I'm dealing with the shop I bought the card from. I have written off the data as lost, and now treat it like a normal guarantee case... So I guess that's it. Too expensive for me to get a pro to retreive any data. Not end of world, but still a taste of the sour apple...
-
I kinda get it too, if they refuse that they had anything to do with it breaking, what can one do..? It's my word against their word, and for all they know I could have been placing a faulty card in there to make em pay for getting my data. But I guess I will never ever trust anyone with my data - frankly - I should've known better.
-
yeah, and your word are ''light'' against their... i'm qfraid the only thing they will purpose to you is a simply replacement of the card... and I know how much the ''pro'' company charges to recover data on damaged storage (i lost a full disk of personnal data last year...)
Good luck !
