  1. What kind of relays are u using? I have some thoughts about switching noise - like noise from connecting / disconnecting the FX pedals into the chain. How do you handle this?

My thought was to make a digitally controlled mute circuit at the end of the chain - that is - before signal enters amp or DI box. And mute the output for the split second it takes the relays to switch...

Have a strong suspicion that circuit for this muting or other way to do it can be found in schem for several of the common stomp boxes out there. Especially thinking of the boss tuner - which I know can do silent mutes.

  2. Oh yeah! Looks good! I have been working on similar stuff, just now and then, nothing serious yet. I'm building one, but not sure yet it's gonna have midi, but then again, it would probably be stupid not to! Does it work well?

  3. Great 3D Work! I just love the toxic green anodizing color :D. Personally I would consider changing the on/off color though. :)

What is the black spot in between the glasses? EDIT: On/Off LED?

    But this looks REALLY great!

  4. Are u gonna mount the boards inside so that the short side of the PCB show in the window?

Maybe mount them 20-30 degrees too, that would make it look really angry :D

Need to fit some blacklights in there and fit the surroundings of the PCB with pure white. Would be awesome.

Or maybe red PWMed diodes pulsing in there. mmmmmmmm (too much need for speed maybe? :P)

  5. Yeah :). I havent seen any of mikes stuff. I didnt aim for a single sided board from the start. It was part of another more complicated PCB I made with 2xDIN / 1xDOUT / 8xBS on the same board :). So I just thought I should offer this part of it, since there didnt seem to be a lot of alternatives - I didnt want to retetris it to single sided when it was already done :).

  6. Hi hawk. First I thought this was gonna serve as psu for non musical stuff - like the mb64e-ish box Im building.

Then I decided to try it in my SID synths too. - for 5v rail. I still gonna use linear standard approach on 9 / 12v rails for SIDs. - so sure Im interested in that! ;)

For the stereo SID synth - the one that is getting the funky spaceship case - Im gonna need +5v, and +/-9v, for 8580s and a balanced transformer output. thought I would just get away with using 9v, on both the SIDs and the audio circuits to reduce the number of vregs in there. Can then use a 12v centertapped transformer on everything if the switcher design works out well :D.

  7. Yep. I got that one for free many years ago, wasnt working too good, I took it apart cleaned it and put it together again, and its been running ever since. but the psu makes an annoying very hi freq sound now, so I might have to reopen it some day to see if I can get rid of it.

  8. Hehe. Yeah. I have both ready for action ;). The nylon stringed guitar behind, was a freebie. Its in fairly good shape, but not more quality than u expect from a "school" guitar. Something for Sam to play when he get a bit older ;). The 12-stringer was actually pretty expensive back when I bought it. It has no electronics - I bought this because I fell in love with its sound - excelent sustain and reverbish sound. The electric one is an old washburn thats not really mine, but I have a deal with the owner to keep it as long as I want :P - so I treat it as my own then ;). At the moment Im "window" shopping for a steinberger. I have wanted to have a headless guitar ever since the first time I saw Bill n Ted movies :D. I think I will buy one of those within this year ;).
