  1. Thanks all, I'm on to the final painting and assembly now :) c-
  2. Thanks to both! So the ABW renders the SID useless for live playing, hey? Do the later SID chips have the same issue? If so, I'm definitely just going the external noise gate option - I bought this to use Taurus style with some MIDI pedals :) c-
  3. Good to know - a quick perusal of the common desktop multi-fx failed to bring up anything with a noise gate! Sorry to request spoon-feeding, but can somebody provide me with the links to the fix & the test-tone? I've had a dig through the FAQ and manual links but can't see any reference to the fix (perhaps they need to be updated?). cheers c-
  4. Normal? Ack. Still, not too big a worry - I'm planning on getting a decent multi-fx to run after the sammichSID; any box worth the money should have a decent noise gate in the signal chain. On the plus side, that means that aside from uploading the presets again & doing the final assembly & painting, IT'S ALIVE :) c-
  5. Okay, at least one SID is working fine. I believe the other is running very quietly, and not getting any Note Off signals. That is, if I press a C3 note using the default Lead patch, I get one loud signal until I let go of the key. Then I get a much quieter signal with infinite sustain - when I press another note, it triggers okay, but the same behaviour follows. I've done a bit of a search, but nobody else has reported the same thing. The default patch bank has failed to load in properly, so I'll try to upload it via MIDIox instead and see if that makes any difference. c-
  6. Sweet - well, I'll report on my progress after tonight :) c-
  7. Hah! I blew mine up because I'm an idiot - and replaced it with a 25V Suntan brand from Jaycar when I picked up the recommended power supply :) c-
  8. Thanks for the quick response :) I measured again, the multi-meter is definitely set to DC and with every IC except the SIDs in place, it's still measuring high. 12.38 actually, now I check again. c-
  9. G'day guys, I'm using the regulated 12V power supply from Jaycar electronics that was recommended to me by Wilba, part number is MP3242. When voltage testing, I got 5.02V, 9.03V, and 12.31V. Given that the instructions keep saying 'exactly 12V' and I've got a pair of 6581 chips, I'm more than a little concerned. I got these because I prefer the filter on them; I'd hate to have to on-sell them and get a couple of later models. Any suggestions you have will be much appreciated! Chris
