  1. Hi Guys, First of all, sorry about starting with a question here. I remember I was around 19-20 when I first heard about uCapps, it was too difficult to me as a DIY project. Now, I'm 33, built a few hardwares, like a Eurorack system, a few rack effects (compressor, eq) a bunch of pedals of course, and a 30 unit Buchla system. A few days ago I was just hanging on the internet, when I read something about a MidiBox thing, totally blew me away when I realised that I've been ignoring this page for such a long time. Now, I'm here :D As I'm not really interested in MIDI controllers, my first choice is the SID. I have a MSSIAH modded C64, now I'm ready to build a smaller thing to use it in an everyday basis. (It is not really hard to source a C64 in Hungary these days, a few clicks on FB to check if somebody have one in the attic...trust, somebody always have one :D ) Anyway, I have some total n00b questions : (I know, I should read the WIKI, I'm already after that.) - I'd like to build the total minimum version, because I can create a handsome little M4L editor to it an with this, I can store the presets with the Live projects. For this little setup, If I understood correctly, I need only the core PCB, the SID PCB, a power supply, maybe a bank stick and the SID, am I right? - Is it possible to solder create a small PCB, instead of using the BankStick? Is it easy to re-write the presets? 127 patches are far more that enough for me. - I have a PICkit 3 programmer, can I use this to program the PIC? - About the power supply, let's say, a 12V DC PSU, 1000mAh is enough to power both boards? - I'm a bit confused about the engines thing. So, can I use the module without the controls? I mean, can you access all of the parameters VIA CC or SySex? Well, I can't think anything else now... Thank you very much for the help in advance guys!
  2. I have built two CORE 8 and seven DIN cards from Smash TV. A friend laid out my Hex files and others and walked me through loading them into my CORE 8s. I have wired up two manuals and connected them to the first four DINs. He built the HEX files and the others to fit my two manual old Conn. The #0 CORE is for the two manuals and the #1 CORE is for the pedals and stop tabs. I have also loaded the St. Anne's free version to my Win 8 PC. All manual keys work properly except for the E-1 on the swell. In watching the output I noticed the E-1 shows Channel 7 rather then Channel 1. So I need to correct this but don't know how. My friend is very ill and can not help me at this time. I have MIOS Studio on the PC but other than monitor the keys I don't have a clue. It would appear to me that the key is incorrectly listed in the file that is loaded on the CORE. I do recall using some program to make minor changes to the codes, but don't recall what or where is was or how to do it. All I know is to run a cable from the CORE Out to MIDI In on my USB Midi device and also run a cable from the CORE In to MIDI Out on the USB Midi. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I did download the "tutorial" on MIOS Studio but that isn't much help. More confusing then helpful. I am located in the US in Berkeley Springs, WV. My friend was in California and he send me the files and walked me through over the phone. The files I have are: HEX FILES: device_id_00, device_id_01, device_id_02, device_id_03, main_swell_3, and setup_midio128 all with ".hex" MISC: Beckham 0.syx, Beckham 1.syx, midio128_v2_2b.zip, MIOS_Studio.exe Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am presently wiring the pedals and may use a touch screen for the stops and couplers. Jay Beckham
  3. Okay. I'm pretty sure I've got my head around how this should work. This is my first, and probably only, MBHP SEQ build. I've got a handful of basic boards on hand, and a couple of almost-complete parts orders (recently moved, so I had to throw all of my resources at that). This is going to be my winter project. Initially, I was thinking of doing something more custom as far as a layout goes, doing crazy stuff like a harmonic keyboard and such, but now I've scaled it back a bit and am focusing on function over form. Using WIlba's frontpanel as the control surface. I've got a fair amount of MIDI gear I'll want to control, so I'm going for the maximum MIDI ports I can - from what I can tell, that's a total of 12 outs, and 4 ins. There's also some custom DIY synths that I'd like to control, so 8x CV outs and 8x Gates would also be nice. I'm also looking to do weird clock division stuff with some Korg Volcas (total of 8) and to use the BLM16x16+X as an extended control surface later on. So here's what I'm thinking will be required for modules: CORE_STM32F4 running MIOS32. WIlba's Frontpanel taking up the first modules on the DOUT/DIN chains (J8 and J9, respectively) Four additional DOUT modules after the frontpanel on J8 for an additional 16 SRs - 8 for analog synth gates, 8 for the clocks to the Volcas A single AOUT module on J19 for CV outputs 2x MIDI_IO Modules on J11E for a total of 4 INs and 4 OUTs. 2x Quad MIDI_IIC modules chained on J4A for 8 dedicated MIDI outs (bringing the total to 4 IN and 12 OUT) Two LCD displays on J15A/B TPD Module on J1 Does this all make sense and fit within the specs of the platform? I'm so pumped to get this together...
