  1. I just wanted to file, that I successfully build the newest version of JSynthLib on Mac OsX 10.9 Mavericks, it even runs in multiple instances. I build it with intellij IDEA 16.2 and Java JDK 1.8.0.111 using Maven as the build,package tool. I tested it with some units and everything works just fine. For those still using it, or needing an editor for the SIDbox V1 (like me) on Mac OSX, here it is as exectuable jar. I hope this sticks to the GNU rules uploading it here.   4. Complete Beginner

    I have built two CORE 8 and seven DIN cards from Smash TV.  A friend laid out my Hex files and others and walked me through loading them into my CORE 8s.  I have wired up two manuals and connected them to the first four DINs.  He built the HEX files and the others to fit my two manual old Conn.  The #0 CORE is for the two manuals and the #1 CORE is for the pedals and stop tabs.  I have also loaded the St. Anne's free version to my Win 8 PC.  All manual keys work properly except for the E-1 on the swell.  In watching the output I noticed the E-1 shows Channel 7 rather then Channel 1.  So I need to correct this but don't know how.  My friend is very ill and can not help me at this time. I have MIOS Studio on the PC but other than monitor the keys I don't have a clue.  It would appear to me that the key is incorrectly listed in the file that is loaded on the CORE.  I do recall using some program to make minor changes to the codes, but don't recall what or where is was or how to do it. All I know is to run a cable from the CORE Out to MIDI In on my USB Midi device and also run a cable from the CORE In to MIDI Out on the USB Midi. Can anyone point me in the right direction?  I did download the "tutorial" on MIOS Studio but that isn't much help.  More confusing then helpful. I am located in the US in Berkeley Springs, WV.   My friend was in California and he send me the files and walked me through over the phone.  The files I have are: HEX FILES: device_id_00,   device_id_01,   device_id_02,   device_id_03,   main_swell_3,   and   setup_midio128  all with ".hex" MISC:  Beckham 0.syx,   Beckham 1.syx,   midio128_v2_2b.zip,   MIOS_Studio.exe Any help would be greatly appreciated.   I am presently wiring the pedals and may use a touch screen for the stops and couplers.   5. Sehr geehrter Herr Klose, geehrte Damen und Herren, im Zuge einer Midibox-NG- Applikation arbeite ich seit längerem an der Midifizierung einer alten Digitalorgel. 1. Digitalorgel: 2 Manuale (61 Tasten), das Pedal (30 Tasten) und Koppelschalter liefern seitens der Orgel -12V bei gedrückter Taste. Die Taster sind im geöffneten Zustand über 2 k Widerstände seitens der Orgel geerdet. 25 Registerschalter liefern 5 V Schaltspannung, im Ruhezustand beträgt diese Spannung -5 V. Das Pedal hat Reed- Kontakte. Damit die Orgel jederzeit wie zuvor gespielt werden kann, habe ich die DIN- Module mittels einer Pegelwandlung über Optokoppler angehängt, was den Vorteil hat, dass sich keine direkte Spannungskopplung ergibt. 2. Computer: Der Orgelcomputer ist ein Windows8.1- PC, verfügt über 12 GB Ram und 2 x 4- Kern Prozessoren (Intel Server- Board). Als Orgel- Software setze ich GRANORGUE (GO) ein. Als USB- Treiber verwende ich den GM5- Treiber. Die Midibox-NG-Applikation ist über eine 10m lange aktibe USB20- Verlängerung angeschlossen. Als Testcomputer verwende ich daneben einen PC mit Windows- XP SP2  (2GB Ram, Dual Core) und ebenfalls den GM5 Treiber. 3. Midibox-NG- Applikation (Basisboard plus STM 32F4- Kontroller): Daten laut MIOS Studio: OS:              MIOS32 BOARD:       MBHP_CORE_STM32F4 App.:            Midibox NG V1.032 Flash-Mem.: 1048576 Bytes Ram:             196608 Bytes LCD-Type: 0x83 - GLCD_DOG 8x1 bzw. 128x64 Es ist eine SD-Card über einen micro- SD- Adapter angeschlossen Es werden folgende  Anschlüsse des Basisboards verwendet: 3.1. DIN / OUT: DIN 1: 24 Taster im Controller     (kurze interne Verbindungsleitung)           1 Encoder Wheel DIN 2: Pedal            (ca. 50 cm Verbindungsleitung vom DIN1) DIN 3, 5, 6, 7: Manuale, Koppler    (jeweils ca 10 cm zwischen den DIN- Modulen) DIN 4: Registerschalter DOUT1 24 LED im Controller (als Rückmeldung / Statusanzeige der DIN1- Taster) 3.2. Analogeingänge: 3 x Potentiometer (interne Verbindung) LED- Panel (interne Verbindung) USB- Device (Die Spannungsversorgung erfolgt über den USB- Bus)   4. Meine Bitte: Bitte gewähren Sie mir die dringend benötigte Hilfe und Unterstützung bei der Beseitigung des nachfolgend beschriebenen Problems, das ich bisher nicht zu lösen vermag. Was für mögliche Ursachen Fehlerquellen erkennen Sie, was kann ich bzw. sollte ich ändern, überprüfen um den Fehler zu beseitigen. - Störimpulse auf den Leitungen zwischen DIN und Manualen ? - Störimpulse auf der Versorgungsspannung der NG- Applikation (USB- Versorgungsspannung) ? - Verwendung von mehr als 4 DIN- Modulen; erforderliche Maßnahmen ?    Hinweis: Die NG verwendet für den DIN- OUT Anschluß einen 74 HCT 541 Treiber.    Ist hier ein insbesondere der 100 Ohm Widerstand zwischen den RC1 bzw. RC2 Clock- ausgängen  und der DIN- Chain erforderlich ? - Software- Entprellung; prellen die Manualkontakte stärker als vorgesehen, ist die Entprellogik zu langsam, zu kurzes Zeitfenster ? - Abschaltung aller nicht benötigten Funktionen, um Rechenzeit zu sparen ? - Generelle Präventionsmaßnahme: Kann man zB durch Konfiguration die NG dazu bringen ein NoteOff grundsätzlich zweimal senden, und / oder nach jedem erkannten NoteOn individuell für den zugehörigen Eingang mehrmals in kurzen Abständen zu testen ob das Signal aus ist und dann ein NoteOff zu senden ? - Kommt auf dem USB ein Übertragungsprotokoll mit ausreichender Fehlersicherung zum Einsatz ? Nebenbei bemerkt: Der Hänger beim Up- oder Download, wie er im Forum bereits beschrieben wurde, tritt auch bei mir sporadisch auf.   5. Mein Problem, meine Analyse- und Abhilfeversuche: Beim ersten Spielen der Virtuellen Pfeiffenorgel (VPO) blieb in grösseren aber auch kleineren Abständen 1 Ton im Pedal angeschaltet, das NoteOff- Signal bzw. das Loslassen der Taste wurde wohl verschluckt. Das hatte ich in den Tests zuvor nicht bemerkt. Die Midibox- NG- Applikation war über ein USB- Kabel mit ca. 1,5 m Länge angeschlossen und über USB mit Spannung versorgt. Nun dachte ich das könnte insbesondere an dem relativ langen Flachbandkabel nach unten liegen und änderte die Zuordnung so, dass oben die Anschaltung direkt am ersten DIN- Modul (DIN2) liegt (ca. 1,5m Flachbandkabel).   Wegen Umpositionierung der Lautsprecheranordnung wurde die Midibox- NG- Applikation über eine aktive USB- Verlängerung von 10m angeschlossen. Beim weiteren Spielen der VPO ergab sich der Fehler nicht mehr im Pedal, sondern im oberen Manual. Es werden bei wiederholten Versuchen die Töne von bis zu 3 verschiedenen Tasten, die alle am selben Schieberegister des DIN5 / demselben Optokoppler hängen, nicht abgeschaltet, aber in jedem Fall nur ein Ton gleichzeitig. Ich kann leider nicht sagen, ob es sich vor und nach der Änderung der Zuordnung um dasselbe Schieberegister handelt, oder denselben Optokoppler- Chip. Die Verwendung eines USB- Adapters mit zwei Steckern zwischen PC und aktiver Verlängerung (falls die NG- App zuwenig Strom bekam) nützte nichts. Bei genaueren Analysen stellte ich nebenbei fest, dass die Registerschalter im Ein- Zustand zum Flackern der Stop- Buttons der VPO führten, Es stellte sich heraus dass die Optokoppler bei 5V nicht stabil schalteten, was ich durch Erhöhung des Schaltstromes erfolgreich beseitigte. 5.2. Detailtests der DIN- Module und der DIN- Funktion Nun untersuchte ich alle Lötsellen des den Problemtasten aktuell zugeordneten DIN5 und des dazugehörenden Optokopplermodules mit der Lupe und reinigte die Platine in verdächtigen Bereichen. Danach machte ich Spannungs- und Widerstandsmessungen, die waren in Ordnung. Test mit speziellem Taster, der 8 Eingange gleichzeitig einschaltet: Nun führte ich die nachfolgend beschriebenen Tests mit dem Testcomputer durch, mit kurzem USB- Kabel, an die NG- App ware neben dem internen DIN1 nur das verdächtige DIN angeschlossen. Ich verwendete zum Test einen Taster, der beim Druck jeweils 8 Eingänge aktiviert, zuerst vor dem Optokoppler, danach direkt am DIN- Modul. Jeweils nach einigen Tastendrücken in unterschiedlich schneller Folge, hörte ich, dass von Grand Orgue nicht alle 8 Töne gespielt wurden. Das war für alle 4 Stecker des DIN- Moduls entsprechend. Analyse der ankommenden Midi- Befehle Nun analysierte ich die am GM- Treiber ankommenden Midi- Signale zunächst mit dem Tool "Midiox", weil man damit einen guten farblich differenzierten Überblick hat. Es ergab sich folgendes: Fall 1: Die meisten Tastenimpulse (Drücken und loselassen) liefern 8x NoteOn und 8x NoteOff. Fall 2: Ab und zu liefert der Tastenimpuls neben den 8x NoteOn 2x hintereinander 8x NoteOff Fall 3: Ab und zu liefert der Tastenimpuls zuerst nur für einige der 8 Eingänge NoteOn, (zwischen 1 und 4 Eingänge), der Rest NoteOff. Nach ca. 10 ms (Midiox- Timestamp) kommt dann 8x NoteOn. Danach 8x NoteOff. Fall 3.2: Ab und zu jedoch werden beim Tastenimpuls im Vergleich zu Fall 3 die fehlenden NoteON- Kommandos verschluckt, es folgt nur 8x NoteOff. Fall 4: Sehr selten liefert der Tastenimpuls auch 8xNoteOn 2 mal hintereinander und danach 8x NoteOff. Nun reduzierte ich in der Definitionsdatei die Zahl der Schieberegister auf 4, worauf die Häufigkeit der Fälle (2-4)  abnahm, insbesondere der Fall 3.2 ! Bei drei weiteren Testsequenzen analysierte ich direkt die von MIOS- Studio protokollierten Signale, mit demselben Ergebnis. Das festgestellte „Übersehen" von NoteOn- Kommandos kann in meiner Anwendung toleriert werden, jedoch wäre es wichtig, die Ursache dafür zu kennen. Auch ein selten übersehenes NoteOff muß jedoch unter allen Umständen vermieden werden. Ich konnte in meinen Tests nicht feststellen, dass / ob die NG erforderliche NoteOff Kommandos im Zuge des Loslassens einer Taste nicht sendet.   6. Hi everyone. This is my first post on this forum. I have studying forum and ucapps.net for three years. Sorry for my bad english in some cases.   I got an old organ "Ahlborn C33" made around 1960's. There are two manuals and pedal (and 33 stops). The instrument is functioning, but it was in very poor condition. Many of the keys did not work, some stops were not working, and the amplifier and speakers were outside the organ, because there was no room inside. The organ had about 200 ECC82 (12AU7) tubes and associated electronics that served as oscillators. Here are a few pictures of what they look like: I don't have old picture of mine working, but this is the same organ (without speaker boxes). I decided to remove all the old electronics because it was not possible to repair. Not only are the parts were unavailable and expensive, but the sound was not anything special. From the organ I use almost everything except tubes, resistors and capacitors. Many keys were damaged and needed to be glued or otherwise repaired. Each button has about a 10-15 contacts. I have removed the old cables and for each key merged only one wire. I soldered a wire to multiple contacts for a better grip (old 56K resistors are not connected). After that I again put mechanisms in their old place. Here's the picture:     Also I made a fixes to pedal, but there was more work to do, because some mechanisms were literally broken.   Then I ordered a printed circuit board and made connections to DIN, DOUT and CORE. I used two CORE printed circuit boards because there were more than 128 DIN.   I have plenty of space in organ so I installed an old ATX case and motherboard ASUS P5PL2 (with CPU Celeron D 2,6 and 3,5 GB of DDR2 RAM). All this is powered by ZALMANN quality silent power supply (400W) that powers the PC and MidiBox (5V for logic and 12V for the foot-light). I installed the 60 GB SSD hard drive due to its speed and silence. PIC Midi printed circuit boards are connected to the Game Port. This motherboard have gameport header. It works great and proved to be the best solution for my case. Because Windows 7 and 8 can't support the old Game Port, I installed Ubuntu 14.04. The sound card is the integrated, and if need be, we can also think of a better (PCI or USB). Audio amplifier and speakers (2x12" 4 ohm) are mounted into organ.   Speed: - computer turns on and loads Burea church samples in GrandOrgue in 1 minute and 5 seconds. - computer turns off in three seconds. Instead of the old registers that can be used for other (smaller) organ, I put aluminum panels with buttons and LEDs. I have not installed the panels on board yet. Later I will add labels. Sorry for plenty of wires :-)) .       I'm sorry also for some bad photos.   Now - one problem. I have two foot pedals (for great and swell manual). How to connect them to the "mbhp core"? On each of them I put linear potentiometers of 5 kilohms. The center of each potentiometer (taper) I connected with short cable to the analog input on the "core". The ends of each potentiometer I connected to 5VDC and GND respectively. However in "MIOS Studio" nothing happens when I move a foot pedal, there are no "MIDI events". All other controls are working properly. What could be the problem? Is there anything further to do to get a foot pedal operated with the application MIDIO128?

    Hi Im selling my Midibox Seq V4, it as been in my studio for quite some time now, and it was really fun to built and to use it live. Unfortunately in this last 3 years i didn't use it at all, one reason is that my whole idea of performance didnt involve the Seq, so its time to move on and im betting the one who keeps it will give a proper use to this wonderful machine. Some specs: i have built this monster and it took me quite some time, at the time i was giving my first steps towards electronic diy stuff and this was my first project, lots of doubts and also lots of ideas that come out of this enterprise, luckily this forum always help me a lot, awsering questions and keep me positive about all of it. I didnt built a faceplate, was my intention but as soon i was starting playing with this baby i totally forget to make one, also i like the aesthetic of not having a front panel, the Seq as 2 midi in / 2 midi out but is prepared for one more in and out, (i have put the plugs but didnt solder them to the board), the rotary encoders in the front have the top caps, but they are missing from the photos because i was cleaning it and forget to put em back. The machine is running and dont have any errors or crashes the O.S is the last one, and i can throw a Power supply in the sale, the box was my creation, and is solid pine wood, the connections in the back a a proper newbies work, but its all good, no shorts or bad connections. I dont know what to ask because i cant come up with a value,(for the parts i have spent about 300€, wood box 45€ and a lot of days working in it)  so if you can make me an offer i will appreciate, also im looking for modular stuff (Makenoise Modules, Intelligel, and a System A-100 (case) from Doepfer)      
  13. SID2 not availale (CAN disabled!)

    Hi, I have build my own full CS midibox SID V2 and I have problem to get control over SID slaves. When I press SID2, SID3 or SID4 buttons I will get "SID(x) not available (CAN disabled)" message on the screen. I have checked connections  between core modules many times and check signals with oscilloscope. Master core is sending something at the startup but after that CAN bus seems to be quiet. Do I have to activate CAN bus from asm files (same where buttons,encoder and leds are mapped?)? I also have 1k pull up resistor on RX signal (signal that goes to core RB3 pin).  PIC ID's I have also checked and  those are ok. So only master core sid control is working at the time. Any ideas how to get all slave cores working? MBSID V2 software version  that I'am using is 2.044, bootloader 1.2b and MIOS  is1.9h Br, Jeppe
  14. SID audio input... Worth the effort?

    I've tried searching these forums and Google in general and I haven't found any significant or clear examples of what you can do with audio input... Is the fact that there don't seem to be any examples of folks running a mic or a guitar into the SID evidence that it doesn't work that well if at all? If there aren't any good applications of using the audio in to manipulate external audio I might skip it and just set up a feedback knob.

  16. I'm jumping on the Midibox bandwagon late I realize, but I want to make a Midibox SID unit... From what I can tell the number one source for this was smashtv's Midiboxshop but he's out of stock of the kits and even if i ordered the general parts from a standard electronics dealer I'd still have the problem of needing programmed PICs, which he's out of stock of as well. I tried emailing him a while back and heard nothing so I suspect I can't hope that he'll have things in stock again anytime soon. Is there another source in the US for programmed PICs and Midibox specific parts or do I need to order from one of the international stores?

  19. Hi all, after long absence I have decided to build a midibox kb. So I have soldered  LPC17, loaded up midibox kb and thought, DIO_matrix "1 to 1" connected to keybed (as shown here: http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_kb/midibox_kb_fatar_df_61_interconnections.pdf) and core would produce a working system. But it seems I have failed, I don't get midi note_on-messages from the core. Do I have to adapt the setup somehow or is the 1 to 1 connection the false option? Best clem!
  20. Hi all, i've connected a fatar df 61 keybed (now 49 keys working fine with midibox kb (v1.016) on lpc17) and now changed fw to midibox ng (v1.033) and have got some problems. The order of the keys is wrong (rows etc.) and no velocity. No problem I thought and tried to adapt the keybed by setting kb 1 and tried debug mode via miosstudio but this is not working. The parameters seem to change but no visual or audible effect. The wrong order and missing velocity is still there. So what is wrong or do I have to compile the firmware first with other settings, if I want to use it with my keybed? Best, clem!

    Hey yo! Anyone have a copy of the initial firmware for the TIA project by Antichambre? I have built the interface ect and just need the firmware code to test that it's all good in the hood (I know it's being refined at the moment and is unavailable to download on the Wiki) it must have been posted up at some point as a few peeps have said they've made it and its sweet like but can't seem to find a link anywhere! cheeeeers

    Starting a post to show the progress of my MIDIbox seqv4 build.   Go!   Ordered the STM32f4 CORE and MIDI IO. They are in progress.   stuffed the 20 pin dip in backwards! oops! How the fuck did i do that? :( Marked it to remind myself. Also wating for the 25 position headers for the discovery socket. i had a hard time finding these in the US. so ebay? ok. Also had to order the 74HCT541 on ebay.     Also ordered an AOUT original version which i don't have parts for yet. I am waiting for the seqv4 control panel pcb to show up at smashTV. Also need a second MIDI IO pcb from smashTV. i may buy a panel from fabien at "thebeast". i may order a panel from frontpanelexpress. i am on the list for the 3rd round of the "SEQ4 Heidenreich Case Bulk 2014". i need to design and build a power supply. i want to control my modular eurorack and midi gear.   alsoneed to fixmyspace bar!
