The project itself is not so intensive that it needs the STM32 to run, but running it on an STM affords all the usual advantages of a faster, higher density processor. (in this case, more matrix crosspoint chips can be updated in a given time, and more chips can be addressed (easily) in the first place)

I scored 3 Analog Devices AD8113JSTZ for only 5 dollars!!!!! on ebay.US, shipping 4 dollars. :D

....but looking down the chip i am getting eye cancer when thinking of solder those tiny IC. There aren´t any sockets for LQFP am i right??:-/

I have been reading the whole data sheet and on the last pages there are suggestions for layouts and finally the AD evaluation board for the AD8113 in every detail, layer. The board is listet for 300 dollars, so i thing the won´t give it away that easy when asking for a free sample board:-/ Doing the board by myself by scanning the layout won´t be practicable  as the PCB has 4 Layers and i am only able to do double sides PCB!! It is stated on 2 pages that the board will have to have a proper and clever grounding plane so that the crosstalk can held down to a minimum

Heheh yeh they're kinda small huh? ;)

I know that there's a lot there but... read through this thread, as we have discussed the board design in some length already, including such matters as how to possibly avoid the need for 4layer fabrication. I think the info will be helpful to you.

Remember to do your layouts in kicad (not eagle). That step was a 'must' for this project as the boards required are too large for free eagle.

Yeah...bloody damn german ingineers, getting lots of cash, driving big cars for don´t even getting their "Blaumänner" (german for working clothes, blue working pants) dirty :D... ;)

I ordered some free samples from National Semiconductor, only cheap op-amps...so to fill up my sample cart i couldn´t resist to clicked on the following:

http://www.national.com/pf/LM/LMH6583.html#Availability

The price is about 40 us dollras and in the same league like the ad8113, but the national  is clearly for video usage.

Hmm...now i got 10 of that damn expensive chip lying here on my desk and can´t even open the package:-D

Are you feeding actual audio through this patching system? If so, I have a large quantity of 1/4 inch professional jack sockets which are surplus to requirements.  (Might also have 16 100mm log faders, but not sure as yet.) If you are looking for audio-mixer bits I might be able to help, perhaps a swap in payment?

regards and best of luck with your patch-bay.

hi , you have to use relays or you get crosstalk. The best DMOS FET switch is like -107 crosstalk, thats clearly enough for a lot of things tho : ))

Several sellers are in bizness @ ebay for input selector, what else you wan in hifi?

These crosspoint switches have builtin opamps i dont lik those either.
