Chat was Re: The definitive MB-6582 PCB/kit thread

Recommended Posts

there were a few people that mentioned i could help cnc panels for this project in my thread about possibly milling the core pcb's for people. ( http://www.midibox.org/forum/index.php/topic,11613.15.html )

... so i thought i'd bring it up here.

i've got a dxf from the FPE panel layouts for the front and back of the case.  (the front panel dxf is 75mb right now for some reason, i think it's millions of tiny lines instead of arcs/lines) i know for sure i can handle the backside in one setup.  as far as the front panel, i think i can do it half and half (still in one piece) i had an idea about maybe the front panel being done in sections that would mount on a thin frame with rivets or small flathead screws.

could the main pcbs be made modular with short jumpers between them?  i could cnc up 1 kit at a time this way between pcb bulk orders maybe?

"will cnc for sid chips, i'm getting ready to start my own midibox project here." ;)

Heh, that would be expensive (lots of jumpers) and defeat the purpose (might as well buy MBHP pcbs from smash) and wouldn't fit the case and... nah it just won't work :(

Topic is locked until further notice.

Smash is working on the kits and it is pretty obvious now he needs to order alot.

No need to sign up anymore i think he gets the picture now.

To much poisening on this thread. We will send out a message to all members when the kits are available.

Regards,

Jeffry

I could see where people would get frustrated, I just read the 24 pages to reach the locked notice.  The comments by wilba about the treasure hunt and the barnun best sid synth is certainly a valuable tone to grasp.  I also just finally registered for this forum after lurking for some time.  Excited to be here.  I'm also a section 4 newbie.  Got my name on the panel list and the sid mega sale #6.  my next step wait on the notice that smash tv is selling through the web site.  Stoked. 8)

From one MIDIbox newbie, to another, welcome!

Right before Wilba went on vacation, he mentioned having some 6582A SID's leftover from the last sale. If he didn't sell them all, you might be able to grab 4 or 8 SIDs when he gets back from his holiday. Based on the last posts I read in this topic, he might have 8 left, which would be perfect for the MB-6582. Check it out here:

We recently discovered the linux-based homebrew CNC mill, built by chr0n1c. There is a possibility that he can produce panels for the MB-6582 project. This might cut some waiting time for panels and it should bring down cost. I'm still exploring the possibility with chr0n1c and will let everyone now if this works out. I really love the thought that my panels would come from a home-brew CNC. Especially one controlled by Linux. I told my wife about this - she smiled and said, "you're having geek orgasms right about now, aren't you?"

Well, she may be right, maybe I need to draw the line at getting off on DIY porn. She thinks I need to see a psychologist or get some Jesus.

I think she needs to get her geek on. Jesus loves geeks too!
