frailn Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 That was beautiful. Why read ucapps.de and the forum and ask a bunch of questions when I could simply affix clothespins to my eyelids and put this video on repeat for 72 hours?
cimo Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 aaaaaaahhhhhh the CORE, source of all kind of pleasure....
stryd_one Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 Hehehehe, when I saw the topic, I thought it was a whole core soldered in 4 minutes real-time... I thought "wow, OK that's really fast!"nice video :)
Benjamin Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 Heyyy!! are you reading my mind :o.... i was planning to do the same thing :-\... Mine will be a bit different though... see you when i finish practicing ;D
stryd_one Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 Well I was going to recommend against it.... at least... for newbies... See GROT #1
Benjamin Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 Im going more for documentation for myself than an instructional.Ill put a warning: Do not under any circumstances copy what you see here - its most likely incorrect!!!(Searching for what GROT #1 means now)
Wilba Posted June 27, 2008 Report Posted June 27, 2008 Hehehehe, when I saw the topic, I thought it was a whole core soldered in 4 minutes real-time... I thought "wow, OK that's really fast!"nice video :)Nice video, but also disappointed... ;D surely it's not impossible to solder a Core in 4 minutes real-time?I might have to try it...
8O Posted June 27, 2008 Author Report Posted June 27, 2008 Cheers for all the nice comments. It's my first midibox attempt, so the actual time was 3-4 hours spread over 2 evenings (in between watching the Euro 2008 football :) )All the great documentation and pictures on the ucapps site made it very easy to build the board - thanks!Edit: actually, most of the time was spent twisting various items in and out of the pcb drill holes as many of the holes were too narrow for the intended device. I wonder if this is common, or just in the summer ;) :)

Side by side, soldering race.... we just need a cute girl to stand between us and wave a flag to start the race :D
Smithy Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 Nice vid.I particularly liked the way you checked for coninuinity between a lot of the points.I wouldnt have thought of this, seems to be better to detect a problem before its finished, rather than spend a longer time trying to diagnose one.
stryd_one Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 I particularly liked the way you checked for coninuinity between a lot of the points.Definitely, that was my favourite part!
8O Posted July 15, 2008 Author Report Posted July 15, 2008 I got some time to connect the LCD module last night and it works first time.DIN module up next and I may do another video for that - might aim for sub 2 minutes. :)
stryd_one Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 And the award for smallest LCD goes to......... ;D
8O Posted July 15, 2008 Author Report Posted July 15, 2008 And the award for smallest LCD goes to.........Hehe, yeah, I know ;D - I searched on here for 2x8 LCD, but no real results, so I thought I might as well just try it. The core connector layout made it nice and easy. All that continuity checking on the core has paid off so far... :)
stryd_one Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 Yep, the way the addressing works, the extra columns will just fall off into space. :)
fabioldr Posted July 18, 2008 Report Posted July 18, 2008 Wow, that really inspired me to build my own board!!Sometime the video freaked me out, it seems like you're burning your finger!!Nice job
