napierzaza
It's been a long time since I built my Midibox SID, and a while since I've been on these boards! So hello to everyone again. So, I want to update to MIOS 1.9g and get RC35 going on my MBSIDv2. I currently am running RC25 on MIOS1.9f I haven't tackled rebuilding my application HEX, and I'm hung up on uploading MIOS! I have my UNO working perfectly considering I see the upload message when the SID starts, and I can send keyboard commands from MIOS Studio and it plays the notes. However, I can't successfully upload the PIC18f4685.hex file. The force reboot does not work, and if I just reboot my SID while it's waiting for an upload request it outputs the following Starting upload of mios_v1_9g_pic18f4685.hex Hex file contains code in MIOS range, forcing reboot for upload via 1st level bootloader! The reboot request will lead to an error acknowledge, please ignore! Waiting for upload request... Received SysEx message of less than 8 bytes Does anyone have any recommendations to get this uploaded? EDIT: Here are the messages I receive when the SID boots up Continued SysEx: F7 0E 00 00 00 00 00 00000001760026 ms | Continued SysEx: F7 0E 00 00 00 00 00 00000001776426 ms | Continued SysEx: F7 0E 00 00 00 00 00 00000001963043 ms | Continued SysEx: F7 0E 00 00 00 00 00 00000001983634 ms | Continued SysEx: F7 0E 00 00 00 00 00 00000002042289 ms | Continued SysEx: F7 0E 00 00 00 00 00 00000002137388 ms | Continued SysEx: F7 0E 00 00 00 00 00 00000002293904 ms | Continued SysEx: F7 0E 00 00 00 00 00 00000002507214 ms | Continued SysEx: F7 0E 00 00 00 00 00 00000002534072 ms | Continued SysEx: F7 0E 00 00 00 00 00 00000002593462 ms | Continued SysEx: F7 0E 00 00 00 00 00 00000005431912 ms | Continued SysEx: F7 0E 00 00 00 00 00 00000008894189 ms | Continued SysEx: F7 0E 00 00 00 00
napierzaza
Is there any documentation on these types of uploading issues? I've read the guides and am stumped as to why midi is working for everything but this one feature. I've even tried to just upload manually but it doesn't work at all, the info is sent but the MIDIBOX never reacts.

nILS
Someone seems to eat up half your MIDI In :) When you start the box do you get a regular upload request?
napierzaza
I suppose it doesn't receive it, or all of it considering it's below 8 bytes, and MIOS Studio appears to think that's strange! I'm using the CAProvider.jar library for Max OS X 10.6.whatever. I wonder if I might try another provider of JAVA-Midi it could work? Could it be some strange electrical problem when I boot up the MIDIBox? Maybe I have two problems 1- On Boot up - Upload request is garbled somehow 2- While booted up - MBSid does not receive reboot request. But this is somewhat strange since it clearly receives notes and plays audio. Edited February 2, 2010 by napierzaza
napierzaza
Well not much has changed. I opened the case and unplugged everything from the unit. The first thing that happened were a few messages sent from the box when the banksticks had been removed. But that seemed normal enough and it was still sending "less than 8 bytes". One thing I noticed was that the two following codes appeared when I didn't have the sid or the LCD plugged in. I never got them before. Does anyone know what they mean? Should I just go ahead and replace the PIC? 00000452089592 ms | [F8] Timing clock 00000452098852 ms | [FF] System Reset Entire Log: 00000451834989 ms | Continued SysEx: F7 01 00 00 00 00 00 napierzaza
Can you burn everything using the PIC burner? Or do you have to load the MIOS and the MIOS app over MIDI?

napierzaza
Okay, for some reason this is what happened. CAProvider wasn't working. What I was seeing is perhaps Apple's halfhearted MIDI java implementation. It is apparently truly half-hearted considering it was eating half of the upload message, even when it was a new burned PIC which was sending lots and lots of requests. So, anyway, I installed plumstone (rebooted) and not even that worked, so I installed MMJ and now suddenly I have two versions of my UNO appearing in MIOS studio. I hooked up the new one in the routing and it uploaded. :-\
