Retrofit a USB keyboard to midi ?

Please move me to the correct section if i've got it wrong :rolleyes:

I have an M-Audio oxygen 49 which is great in my current setup, however it is USB only and I have to run it thru my computer to get a midi out via my midi card

My question here in oh wise midiboxers is how easy/worth is it to make something up to give the Oxygen a power in and midi out to free it from the computer

To be honest, without knowing the internals of the keyboard, I would have said this would cost more than say a simple alternative keyboard with MIDI out.

Considering that you would need at least a CORE8 and 2 x DINx4 modules to MIDIfy the M-Audio when you add the amount of time that you would need to spend, unless you are doing it purely to learn about MIDIbox I would get something like this which is available for less than 95 euros!
