Jon Wilder
MCS-51, while being an old uC family, seems to be still in use in lots of MIDI gear even today. I've also noticed PIC uC's rise to popularity in the MIDI field as well (I have done MIDI projects with both). Interestingly enough, I've only seen 1 MIDI device that used a Zilog Z80 (the ADA MP1). So, which is your preference and why? Edited January 27, 2012 by Jon Wilder
Hawkeye
* PIC, because it was the MIDIbox gold standard * LPC17, because it is the MIDIbox platin standard * MIDInfineon uC, because it has a good chance to be the MIDIbox obsidian standard (and it was co-developed by TK. :)) :ahappy: Edited January 27, 2012 by Hawkeye
nILS
Since you're asking on the official forum of MIDIbox which has been using PICs for 15(?) years now, I guess the response could be somewhat biased...
Jon Wilder
Well excuse me. I so wasn't aware of that since I'm new here. Honestly I work with both which is why I figured I'd see what everyone else likes to use. Edited January 31, 2012 by Jon Wilder
