EsotericLabs Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 The ethernet connector for the LPC17 core is a bit difficult to find in the Netherlands. And with USB and Midi ports, I'm not sure what to use it for. Will the LPC17 Core module work without the MagJack? If so, then I could simply leave it out. Quote
jojjelito Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 (edited) I was able to score a bunch of those for about 2.20€ each a while ago. I bought them at Encitech. If that becomes too expensive, drop me a PM. I could send you one or two in that case. Edit: Encitech were out. Eek! Cheers! /J Edited June 18, 2012 by jojjelito Quote
Hawkeye Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 The LPC17 core will work fine without an Ethernet MagJack. Depending on your connectivity requirements, you can leave out some more components, e.g. for a USB-powered SEQ V4 Lite... but it is generally recommended to fully populate the boards as it is only a few dollars more, and you have a reusable standard module, then. The MagJack is a bit of an exception, as it can be quite expensive and hard to get. You can always solder the Jack on later, when you need MIDI over ethernet :) Bye, Peter Quote
Shuriken Posted June 18, 2012 Report Posted June 18, 2012 (edited) I have to get some a couple too. Think you can buy em in germany. Maybe this will work? Edited June 18, 2012 by Shuriken Quote
EsotericLabs Posted June 18, 2012 Author Report Posted June 18, 2012 Thanks for the help guys, I found several mag jacks but wasn't sure it's the same type. There are so many around.. Jojjelito has some 60024 for sale. Quote
Shuriken Posted June 21, 2012 Report Posted June 21, 2012 (edited) I ordered one at iprototype.nl...let's see if it is a good substitute. Update: I received it today. Physically fits perfectly and the specs it seems to be pretty similar. Edited June 21, 2012 by Shuriken Quote

Shuriken Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 I just tested it today, but it does not seem to be working. [6707.368] [network_device_init] link speed determined [6707.468] [network_device_init] link available [6708.168] [network_device_init] lost link This is what i get in the MIOS Terminal. After that i tried another a 10/100 Switch instead of the 10/100/1000 Switch and then it doesn't do anything. Maybe the tolerances are different, i don't know. Guess i will have to look for MagJack instead. Quote
Fairlightiii Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 Guess i will have to look for MagJack instead. In the same time I made a "round" of the MagJack manufacturers and I found an equivalent of the SI-60024-F: It is the Hanrun HY931110C. The only differences are the diameter of the pins which are slightly bigger and the LEDs which are simple LED and not duoLED. I made an Eagle library and I will use this reference on the upcoming LPC1769 core I'm designing. I'm in communication with Hanrun for a big order for a future BO, the price should be 2€ each. Best regards, Jerome. Quote
Shuriken Posted March 10, 2013 Report Posted March 10, 2013 I would ask Hanrun for a sample if i were you, before organizing that BO. Quote
Fairlightiii Posted March 10, 2013 Report Posted March 10, 2013 ...I will receive it monday. Best regards, Jerome. Quote
Shuriken Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 Ok, good to hear. Waiting for your test results  Quote
Fairlightiii Posted March 11, 2013 Report Posted March 11, 2013 I received it today. The footprint is ok but unfortunatly I have no populated LPC Core to test it. I will able to test it only onto the prototype board at the end of the design. Best regards, Jerome. Quote
MeToo2 Posted July 27, 2013 Report Posted July 27, 2013 Hallo. I'm new to this forum, but I hang around on www.groupdiy.com and I've built a fair bit of DIY electronics before (G-1176 compressors, G9 tube mic pres, gssl compressors, API 312 mic pre clones, LA-2A tube compressor clone, own design vari-mu tube compressor ... ) Just started with the LPC17 core build. Looks like a wonderful project. It's obvious that there's been a lot of thought gone into this. Thanks. I'm also looking for source of the specified magjack si-60024-f RJ45 connector for Ethernet. They can be ordered from digikey.nl with part number 380-1117-ND 4.71 ex VAT. Would anyone in Europe be interested in a group buy? I'd be in for 4 myself. Quote
MeToo2 Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 Would anyone in Europe be interested in a group buy? I'd be in for 4 myself. No replies so far, so I'm just going to sort myself out. Quote
Shuriken Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 I need a couple as well. But i am not in a big hurry. So if me ordering another 4 takes your order over 100 dollar, i am willing to participate. Otherwise i am gonna wait until i need something more. Paying more shipping costs then for parts feels wrong ;) Quote
latigid on Posted August 21, 2013 Report Posted August 21, 2013 Could take one or two, if they indeed work correctly. Quote

Digikey is out of stock until March 2014, anywhere else? Edited November 26, 2013 by renegadebliss Quote
renegadebliss Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 So Digikey are still out until end of March. I did find here: http://ucapps.de/mbhp/mbhp_core_lpc17_orderlist.txt Reichelt doesn't sell the MagJack There are several hobbyist distributors for these components, e.g. http://www.csd-electronics.de o MagJack 8 polig print 4xLED (#015-54085) for 3.49 EUR So I see that they actually have some now for 3.95 Euro. But I'm still trying to find somewhere stateside to get these, do you think that these will work from Sparkfun?: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/8534 here's the datasheet for it: https://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/Prototyping/MagJack.pdf Can I use this for the LPC17CORE? Thanks! Quote
Shuriken Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 The sparkfun one does not work. See my Quote
renegadebliss Posted January 14, 2014 Report Posted January 14, 2014 The sparkfun one does not work. See my Thx! I guess, I'll pay for shipping from Germany from: http://www.csd-electronics.de since i don't want to wait until March.... Quote

firemag Posted February 12, 2014 Report Posted February 12, 2014 Hello, which MagJack has been used on the photo? Could this be an adequate alternative for central European (especially German) citizens? Greetz Quote
