Midibox with analog potentiometers AND encoders?

5 posts in this topic

Midibox with analog potentiometers AND encoders, and buttons?  Is there a way to do it?   Seems like the encoders are just 'buttons' - right?

I have a xy joystick that is analog (potentiometer) and I would like to use it along with some encoders for other functions.  Is there any Midibox applilcation for encoders and analog?

Can I just use Midibox64 and connect and encoder to DIN and use it like an incremental 'button' switch???

-> MIDIbox NG: http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_ng.html

no.

MIDIbox64E would allow you to use Buttons functions, encoder and pot functions.

But the configuration is much more complicated (e.g. you would have to re-compile the source code) than with MIDIbox NG (configuration done in a file on SD Card)

Thanks TK.  Sounds like NG would be great.

Can you point me to the information on how the NG hooks up to the analog / DIN / DOUT.   Would I need a MBHP_AINSER64 if I want to use only 8 analog inputs?

Here is the starting point: http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_ng_manual.html

Yes, the usage of a MBHP_AINSER64 module is strongly recommended for best results.

Of course, you could also build the circuit on a veroboard to reduce area.

E.g. you could also connect the 8 pots directly to the MCP3208 - no need for a 74HC595 or 4051 multiplexers in this case.

Best Regards, Thorsten.
