Limitation in length of cable

Hey folks,

there is an idea in my head. I think about creating a modular midi controller system. There should be a "core" with SCS on top. From there you can connect other modules to this core via a multipin-connector.

But before I put more effort in this idea I'd need to know, if there is a limitation in the length of the cables that f.e. connect various DIN and DOUT modules.

Did anyone test it?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Novski,

thatnks for the link. I already noticed that TK has developed this.

But the connector is way to big for my ideas. I want to use another very small connector and I want to add various of them to the core-module (one for analog modules, one for digital, one for displays, etc.) instead of one big LPT connector.

Are there any informations about the maximal length of the cables?

//edit: And also it seems that there are no short parallel-port-cables. The minimum I found is 1,20m. My idea is, to use cables which are not longer than 30cm.
