Getting MB64 with old MF extension up and running

Hi everybody,

Our MB 64 now reached the test stage and the first bigger problems came up:

We build a test configuration with 4 buttons (the menu bottons) and 2 motorfaders. Firmware version is V0.34.

When we connect the motorfaders only as Pots everything works fine...

Now we tried to update the configuration using Serges editor and enabling the MF extension. After sending all SysEx data the display says "SysEx Dumb complete" but from now on nothing works as expected.

The menu buttons don't react, the display shows "1-0 FF7F00" and doesn't react on a pot change. When we try to send another SysEx Dumb there is a MidiIn Buffer Overflow... The only solution was to rewrite the PIC.

Any idea whats goin on ???

btw is there any possibility to clear only the data(SysEx) part of the PIC?

There is another thing about the old MF Extension: To which output port of the 74FC595 do we have to connect the TC4427 of the first motorfader? Port 7 or 0, as the ports of the AIN changed when moving to MBHP... And what happens to the open outputs of the 74FC595? Simply leave them open?

Would be great if one of the electronic cracks out there could help us.

Thanks a lot Stefan

Hi Stefan,

(just a guess...) did you work with serge's "vmidibox64_0xx.zip" ( 0xx = MB64 0.33 & 0.34 Firmware)? - because the vmidibox64 ver. 1.00a is not compatible with the MB64 0.34 Firmware...

what happens to the open outputs of the 74FC595? Simply leave them open?

yes

Hi Stefan,

This must be a problem between the MIDI Out of your PC and the MIDI In of your MB64. It seems that the sysex dump will not be transfered correctly.

However, for the first tests I could send you a modified firmware which is already configured for your equipment.

No

Port 0. The order has not been changed in the mbhp_core version

Unused outputs can be left open

Best Regards, Thorsten.
