TK. Posted March 23, 2004 Report Posted March 23, 2004 PayC is the first guy who finished his MIDIbox SEQ V2 just one week after the official release. What a great design!!!Are you sequenced? :-) Quote
Captain_Hastings Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Very nice styling! :DWhere did you get those led-buttons? Quote
pay_c Posted March 24, 2004 Report Posted March 24, 2004 Built them myself! :D Just used Digikeys and glued some round plexiglas to it.Facts: Again some rack-compatible 2HE (the 2nd and 3rd pic) and desktop-compatible design (first pic).The Bankstick is in some Microconnector (you can get a blink of it in the 4th pic) and the power switch is a key switch (just as a gimmick).Will upload some more of those Pics on the Portal the next days, check them out! :) Quote
Twin-X Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 What did you use to make the graphics on the panel? lasertran? Quote
pay_c Posted March 26, 2004 Report Posted March 26, 2004 Nope! This was some stuff that you use and think to yourself after that: "WHY the HELL didn´t I use that stuff from the very BEGINNING?!"I really like it: It´s adhesive transparency film for the inkjet. It costs about 1 Euro per sheet.You can put a layer of transparent laquer over it to preserve it. Then just put it on your frontplate (which was sanded a little bit before) and it will never go away again (you really have to pull very strong to get it away).With a scalpell the holes are cut out very easily (lil time consuming but real good results! see the buttons holes)I TOTALLY loved that stuff!! Will only use that one from now on.Greetz! Quote
arumblack Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 You mean like  clear label sheets? i was going to try them ,  but I didn't have the money to shell out for a pack, they only came in 50 packs, and i don't really need 50... How did you make it 19"? did you need to piece two sheets together? It looks great, I wish i had gone and got them now......or was it something different? do you have a brand name or a link? Quote
pay_c Posted March 27, 2004 Report Posted March 27, 2004 Yepp, just two A4 sheets together (you have to do that with lots of caution, 0,5 mm on one of those sides and you can start over).Reichelt did it again: www.reichelt.de search for "FOLIE 2500" 10 sheets for 15.10 Euros.Really good stuff! :Dbtw: This is definitely my *last* project for the next (long) time. No more stuff for at least the next half year. I´m a lil in stress cause of my studying stuff (making my Diplomwork). And I got aware of the fact that I started to build that stuff and build it. I didn´t make any music anyomore.... :PBut: I will definitely stay on the forum! Perhaps I´m back in again sometime. In the meanwhile I´ll try to make more stuff on the software-side and similar (perhaps even some Tutorials/Howtos or so). Let´s look... ;) Quote
uclaros Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 Did you cut the round plexiglass yourself? is yes , how? if not, where did you get it? the buttons look very cool!!! Quote
pay_c Posted April 3, 2004 Report Posted April 3, 2004 I used the normal digital switches from Reichelt (those with the 3mm diameter). Then I got some round rubber tube (transparent as you can see... ;) ) with inner diameter of 3mm and outer 5mm. I just cut out some 5mm long pieces and glued them on the switches (used two component stuff for that). After that I just sanded it so it was one height and it was not so glassy anymore. Then I just putted the LEDs in the right angle under there (used bright ones).Voila! ;D Quote
arumblack Posted April 4, 2004 Report Posted April 4, 2004 extremely clever. do you mind if i "borrow" that idea? Quote
Guest psytron Posted April 4, 2004 Report Posted April 4, 2004 nice one on the switches and the whole thing in general.i will be looking for the adhesive trans sheets for sure. Quote
pay_c Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 Thnx! ;D@arum: C´mon... no prb at all... ::) 8) Quote
Roelli Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 Hey pay_c. 8) Very great stuff! Thats really great.Where do you have these round plexiglas from?Kind regards,Rölli. Quote
pay_c Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 I got it from a company in Berlin. It´s called "Modulor". They got very good prices, although you have a minimum order value . But they got so much stuff, it´s no prob to go beyond (and if you just get some more alu as intended).Cool thing: They got their *WHOLE* catalog in paper form for ordering *AND* as .pdf download!Only the online ordering form is a little wrecked. But not too bad.Here´s the webpage:http://www.modulor.de/Greetz! Quote
moebius Posted July 23, 2004 Report Posted July 23, 2004 Well,Here in Finland, we have a plastic specialist company called Vink, (www.vink.fi). Of course they mostly do b2b, but at least here in Oulu, they serve private customers nicely.. (got some sample materials just by asking. They are willing to cut just 2 pieces for a 19" rack front panel)Bye, Moebius Quote
stryd_one Posted August 13, 2006 Report Posted August 13, 2006 If you want to do buttons like these with the rubber tube, I found a really good source this weekend - remote control model engine fuel lines. You can get the tubing not only in clear, but in transparent coloured types, which I really liked, and it's easily found on eBay. Search for fuel line or fuel tubing or something like that. I managed to find some that are fluorescent, so if they are lit with a UV LED it will cause them to glow.Some examples:Dynamite Lightning Linehttp://www.dynamiterc.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=DYN2450#overviewAerotrend FireLinehttp://www.aerotrend.com/index.phpVenom Ultrahttp://www.venom-racing.com/products/fuel_tools_access/fuel_tubing/index.htmRacer's Edge Neonhttp://www.racers-edge.com/store/customer/home.php?cat=417I've ordered a few of these types and will try them all with white, UV and colour LEDs and post pics in a while. brettsinclair Posted August 8, 2007 Report Posted August 8, 2007 Just one question for Pay_C : Where did you buy the 2x40 LCD ? (because they have the PPG Wave look and i like it :))Thanks Quote
pay_c Posted August 9, 2007 Report Posted August 9, 2007 These were a lucky buy @Ebay. That guy had two of them. Although they might look cool on the photo in fact they´re just like ok. The "normal" Displaytech ones or similar have a much greater contrast and viewing angle. The only really cool thing is the blue backlight. Anyhow I think about exchanging them with some blue/black background LCDs. They cost like triple the money but look like *ass*.Anyhow, unfortunately I can´t tell you where to get *exactly* those, as it was a private (DIY) seller.Greets! Quote
