Twin-X Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 Why have i never thought about that. I have also some broken ones here :) Quote
Jidis Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 BIG BIG EDIT ----> Stuff I'm talking about was original PlayStation crap. (unless the controllers are all the same)5meo-geo,FWIW, I ran across a circuit a while back for a DIY 16F84-based PS joystick to MIDI adapter, for anyone who hasn't already found it. http://kaele.com/~kashima/games/bmconv/index-e.htmlNo broken sticks here, but I've got a nice busted up PS body with the sockets. ;D-George Quote
tel3 Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 I'm wondering if the Xbox joysticks are similar? I have a couple of those that are broken too. I'll report back when I have gotten into one...-tel3 Quote
5meo-geo Posted February 26, 2006 Author Report Posted February 26, 2006 Jidis i think all controlers r simularive took apart also Sony original's and also some cheap faked Taiwan clones and sticks have same propertiesand sticks usaly dont brake in those controlers :Dremmember they made for gamersi had perfectly working controler with loosen spring (got it from dumpster) and thats usualy the BIG failure for controller :Dtel3 plz check it out with xbox also :Dit will be cool to have different sorces for those little cuties :Doh btw tel3 when i tried to measure them onboard they gave me wierdo valuesso u better disolder them before u measure Quote
Jidis Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 Thanks! That one in your picture looks exactly like my gray one, but I don't think my 5 year old nephew would be too happy with me if I killed his beloved "dragon" game to get at the pots. I've got a really cool AppleII stick somewhere that looks like one of those fancy skinny ones on a surround console or something. Need to find that thing.GeorgePS- That %$!# Spyro game makes me want to throw up like Alex on Clockwork Orange. I don't know if it's the voices or the fast paced 3D landscapes, but I can get sick just thinking about it. Quote
sidetrack Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 this is exactly what i plan to do for my controller, thansk for the specs man. Quote
Sinnsyk Posted July 4, 2006 Report Posted July 4, 2006 I've got one open PS2 controller right here, that I opened a week ago. I mentioned something on this forum, but did not make a topic for it :PWhy not keeping the original case, and play music on a ps2 controller. That's cool live performancing :P Quote
sidetrack Posted August 16, 2006 Report Posted August 16, 2006 So do you think you could help me out a little with this centralised spring, because i only got so many of these and i dont want to break them. Quote
Sinnsyk Posted August 17, 2006 Report Posted August 17, 2006 Well, they are easy to remove. Carefully bend the four pins at the bottom, and pull the non-metal part out. Then remove the spring, and put it all back together. Then bend the metal pins back on it's place, and you are done. Quote
goule Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 Hi all,I already have that dual joystick thing integrated into my midibox. Just wanted to say it works perfectly well ;)Goule Quote
MEEF Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 wow this is cool, looks pretty easy to implement as well, cheers for the info! Quote
goule Posted August 23, 2006 Report Posted August 23, 2006 Yes very simple indeed. Just find the 3 pins for each axis (which is very simple if you're not drunk ;D) and connect them to AIN just like any pot / fader / joystick. If I remember well, the middle pin is the Vout, and of course the two other are 5v / ground. ;) Quote
sidetrack Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 thanks for the help, Ill get on this right away. Quote
docbrown Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Just the other day, my sons ps2 controller died. Then I was thinking, "Man, there should be some sort of a hack for this for re-use" and you guys came up with the excellent answer!!You guys ROCKS!! ;Dthanks!! Quote
stryd_one Posted August 25, 2006 Report Posted August 25, 2006 Just the other day, my sons ps2 controller died. Sure! You broke it so you could salvage parts for your midibox ;) Quote
MEEF Posted August 28, 2006 Report Posted August 28, 2006 how do these things assign in sequencers (ableton in particular), do they show up as 2 controllers so you can assign the x & y to different things? Quote
bill Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 how do these things assign in sequencers (ableton in particular), do they show up as 2 controllers so you can assign the x & y to different things? ;DIt's up to you ! Quote
stryd_one Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Yeh it's exactly like two normal pots :) Quote
MEEF Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Yeh it's exactly like two normal pots :)thanks, that's the info i was looking for Quote
Jack Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Hi!Why not integrate a Joystick port and use the whole Joystick as input?Jack Quote
stryd_one Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Well the controllers sample the joystick movements and do an ADC on them and send a digital serial signal, so it's no longer something that can be handled by an AIN... I've got some plans to do a nintendo controller interface later on (much later) which would be easily adapted to sony or whatever but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you! ;) Quote
docbrown Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 I've got some plans to do a nintendo controller interface later on (much later) which would be easily adapted to sony or whatever but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you! ;)Now what would be a good excuse to give my son when I take his controller to a gig..hmmm.. :D Quote
stryd_one Posted August 30, 2006 Report Posted August 30, 2006 Nah just teach him how to use it to make music, and bring them both :) Quote
