Guest soma
Ok I'll admit it. I bought a Doepfer pocket dial. But what I hate about it are the dials. They click as you turn them and are not smooth. It takes away alot of the life I wanted to my music by using a controller.I'm planning on building my own midibox16 plus. Are all endless rotary encoders clicky like these? I really hate them. I want a nice smooth knob that can be twisted all the way around with some nice resistance. TK.
Hi Soma, some people really want detented dials (which normaly only send 24 ticks/revolution), others not - thats a problem ;-)For MIDIbox16E non-detented types (without the click) are a must, otherwise the double-resolution feature will not work. I used ALPS STEC16B36 encoders (see http://www.ucapps.de/midibox16e.html, the feeling is similar to normal pots.Best Regards, Thorsten.
