Because it's 20 years older and a totally different thing. Because it's probably embedded in a proprietary way, encapsulated in a SysEx string? You could volunteer to write such a tool if you can't find one!
hahaha,
boy, I'd love to;
but this is totally over my head.
I am just an innocent user, happy to keep things together, who does not even know what a SysEx string is ...
I also find it hard to believe that I am the only one that has a need for such a tool ...

The title is probably embedded in the file. I just dont have any clue how to change this in Logic.
one can change the name of the files appearance in the DAW; be it Logic, Live or whatever; and then export as and it stays renamed after that ...
but this is not what I am looking for.
it would take weeks to do that.
there should be an application that turns the filename into the name of the files appearance.
we have these meta-tag access batchers for mp3s since day 1.
why don't we have that for midi (that is 20 years older)?

I have a couple of midi files named in the finder e.g.
- Drum1
- Drum2
- Drum3
but when I drag/import the files into my DAW the name that appears for the clip is often totally different.
So the question:
How can I edit the name for the midi file that appears in the DAW (Logic/Live)
I am flying on OS X Lion.
midi file name disorder - what would you do?

yep just for this question,
and then I found a solution myself elsewhere. It is called 'MidiKit' and it can not only access track information but also change between midi types 0 and 1;
something I was also after for a long time ...
No batch processing though ...
