  2. Hi Thorsten, Does that mean that I could easily mount the display vertically (not horizontally, like in most synths) and still display text in text mode without any converter routine? Like having 30 lines with ~12 characters each on a 240x64 (64x240 ;) ) display? Look here for a clearer idea... http://www.midibox.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=german;action=display;num=1032120017;start=0#0 Best, ilmenator
  3. Hi all, for good-looking, not expensive knobs I can suggest Canford: http://www.canford.co.uk/ Prices start at around 0,20€ or less, and you will find some knobs that are used in "professional" equipment. Problem might be that they don't do business with private users, but this would have to be checked out. You can order a catalog from them or print the relevant pages (pp. 348-35x) as pdf. 4. Hi all, the MIDI merger proposed by Thorsten is limited to 2 MIDI Ins. Is this limitation due to processing speed issues (reading: might be overcome by using a faster (18F452) processor), or is this due to hardware limitations? Regards, ilmenator

    Encoder Problem

Ilmenator
  6. Hallo sly, ich bin kein Logic-User, aber kann es sein, dass die Einstellungen in Logic nicht richtig sind? ilmenator
  7. Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! :D This site is getting better each and every day! ilmenator
  8. Hi everybody, just an idea to improve readability of the forum: would it be possible to change the color of the "star in folder" from blue to red or something to indicate that a new article has been added to the section? Problem for me is that the blue color is very close to grey (which indicates "no new article"). :o My eyes seem to be getting weak, I fear... Best, ilmenator
  9. Hey guys, all this is very nice, but I think I did not make myself very clear. d2k: it is a mechanical solution. Just like you can select the 16 banks of each stick, I'd like to access each stick with such a command. drDRM: it is a semi-mechanical solution. The point is not to use a button instead of a knob, but to access various sticks through the OS - therefore the example of changing the stick via a MIDI command. This calls for integration into the OS. Therefore I think the question goes directly to Thorsten, as he is the one "in charge" of MIOS. Best, ilmenator
  10. I'd like to jump in here... We already have a mechanical switch solution for switching between different banksticks. However, it would be quite elegant to have access to different banks via a software controlled switch, meaning I could switch to a different bank by rotating an encoder, pressing a button or sending some MIDI event to the unit. Is there a way to implement this using some of the DOUT pins? Can this be done without using additional, external logic? I think if this is to be useful, it would need to be integrated into the MIOS some way... Thorsten, I don't want to put pressure on you but would like to ask if this makes sense at all? I was thinking about different banks for the SID. Best, ilmenator
  11. Indeed, they are horribly expensive. For a DIY project it doesn't make sense to use these, only for large quantity production where you can save a lot on the labor necessary for mounting the unit. At Frankfurt Musikmesse I talked to some ALPS guy, I don't remember the number he told me, but I was so shocked that I left their booth quite disillusioned about these encoders... :( Best, ilmenator
  12. Hi Thorsten, how did you place your order there? All I can choose is for country between US, Canada and Mexico. How much is shipping to Germany? Any taxes / duties you had to pay? Thanks, ilmenator

  14. Hi all, that's right, just go ahead buy higher voltage caps, no problem with that. It just indicates that the capacitor would be able to stand a higher voltage. Regards, ilmenator

  16. Congratulations! I will have to find something like that as well... does any of the freemailers still provide you with webspace for free, or is it that this period is already over? Regards, ilmenator

  18. Hey Mickey, thanks for explaining how to make double sided PCBs! Now I am not so afraid of them any more... :) Still I think single sided boards are more likely to be sold at Mike's place, so I would prefer a single sided layout as an "official" version. Best, ilmenator
  19. Houston... :-[ Making a 2-layer PCB will be mostly impossible to many users. I would not know how to do this with affordable equipment, and the costs for doing this externally (at some place specialized in making PCB boards) will be comparably high... I even think we lose the chance of Mike offering the board if it is 2-layer. Best, ilmenator
  20. Hi Pearl, I have the same problem as you. Unless you cannot find a kind person offering some webspace to you, there is no way to post jpegs in here. :( Regards, ilmenator

  22. Yes, this should work using the Midibox Link feature. If money doesn't matter... ;) Regards, ilmenator

  24. Hi Ian, I noticed that on my footnote text - the guy is called Zvi L_i_f_s_h_i_t_z, look how he's spelled on the left. I have found no way to cure that behaviour.... ilmenator
  25. Don't worry, leave it like it is now. As d2k says, the number of postings is not really relevant - maybe just a hint regarding the online time of each individual... ;) Best, ilmenator
