  1. Boy when I asked for an error I got it! If you are building the US MF layout check this: http://www.midibox.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=troubleshooting;action=display;num=1060118707 I don't know how that one slipped, except that some of the proto/beta boards did not have legends. I would say have fun, but I'm sure some want to kill me now, and that might make it worse, so I'll just say later.... :) SmashTV
  2. Hey all! I made a massive error on the US version of the MF layout, with two diodes in each output channel backwards. Complete information about the error and a revised Eagle .brd file are up on my site already. The error only affects the orientation of the diodes, so no board/trace modifications are needed. My most sincere apologies to those who are etching thier own and are trying to find problems! I don't know how this got past everyone, but I did not have legends on the boards I built to test or I would have noticed it then. Luckily only six pre-made MF boards have been shipped and the four people who bought those will get an email from me. My remaining stock of MF boards will go in the scrub tank so I can give them the correct legends. For more info on the changes needed take a look at http://mbhp.coinoptech.com/mbhp_mf.html, and if there are any other questions I'll be back to answer them on Thursday (I have a remote commercial shoot tonight and tomorrow). Again sorry for any inconvenience! SmashTV
  3. Thanks Sephult! I'm still slowly weeding out all of the differences in part designations between the two layouts. Most of these come from Eagle automatically naming things, and me not catching it. So if you see any differences, email or message me here to let me know. The 3D renderings on my site are generated in Eagle, and accurately reflect the files that the boards are made from, including silkscreen, so the differences are there also. As I make changes in the layouts I'll include a revision history so the boards that are already out there won't be that much harder to troubleshoot. :) Have fun! SmashTV
  4. Have a safe trip and get some rest! Smash
  5. That was purely an issue of routing traces, and it was a trade off between more jumpers and tigher trace spacing or a 1-2-1-2 order. Yes, but it has yet to be built and tested before release. Have fun! SmashTV
  6. Sweet! ;D Was etching the layout difficult with some of the small traces, and what process did you use (including what paper if you did toner transfer) to etch? I don't think I can make the USB layout much more home etch friendly but I am interested in whether it presents a problem to for those using toner transfer. Have fun! Smash
  7. Did you reboot? several of my machines here (both PC and MAC) dont see some USB devices when they are plugged in a second time between reboots. Smash
  8. All the props go to TK, I just put the traces where they are. ;) Have Fun! Smash
  9. Heya KJH!The SID chip is not directly driven from the 15v input, it is regulated to 9v by the voltage regulator. Keep in mind that some parts will change depending on what SID chip you have: 8580: 7809 voltage regulator, C1/C2 = 6.8nF 6581: 7812 voltage regulator, C1/C2 = 470pF Have Fun! Smash
  10. Thanks for the kind words! :D Yes, some jumpers were eliminated compared to the original layouts. Sorry about that, the plus signs on some of the capacitor legends are way too small. I hope to fix this in future revisions of the layout(s). It all goes back to the quality of the parts libraries for Eagle..... Cool Thank You! Smash
  11. Great work Gilles! ;D Smash
  12. Welcome sboot! Mouser electronics and Digikey have the largest selection of in stock parts, but there are many other suppliers. Check out http://www.mouser.com and http://www.digikey.com. The new PCB layouts on my site (soon to be here on TK's site also) have orderlists for Mouser that are linked to Mouser's site, so getting what you need is easy. See http://mbhp.coinoptech.com in the info section for that. Have fun! SmashTV
  13. I agree completely with you on this, but you really should take a listen to these Sony cans if you get the opportunity. Other than a couple of high end Sony video cameras and video monitors a few pairs of these phones are the only things that carry the Sony name in AVI's (my production company) arsenal of toys. They don't mask shrill highs and the response in the low end is way more true than any of the Sennheiser cans I have used. The low end sounds like what you hear out of a good pair of Tannoy nearfield speaks. These cans don't have the usual "my first microphone" Sony consumer feel or sound. ;) Have fun! Smash
  14. That's wild, I guess I need to put some text links on there. That concerns me extra since I'm a mac user too. :-/ Thanks for the heads up! Have Fun Smash
  15. I'll second that on the Sony's, after comparing them to EVERY other brand of headphone, that's all we use at the production company in every application. Some of the headphones we tested were $1500 US! Have fun! Smash
  16. Heya TFM! :) No problem on the shipping thing but check your email for explanation of another issue. Thanks! SmashTV
  17. Wow, you cant hardly buy search engine placement like that! ;) Have fun! SmashTV
  18. Thanks! Maybe I should clarify, I have been calling these the "US" layouts, but I do ship worldwide. Paypal makes that easy with the money conversion. I should have the Mouser orderlist done for the USB board in the next few days, I'm still trying to find a decent supplier for the USB chip that has more than a handfull in stock. Have fun! ;D Smash
  19. Thanks! They shipped out yesterday, so hopefully you will see them before the weekend. I have not been keeping up very well with thank you/confirmation emails on the orders, but my "order status" page details when I ship to those who don't get an email from me. Let me know when they get there! Smash
  20. Heya SW! Sounds like you have a TO-3 package regulator: You can use it, and it has way more current capacity, but it would be way easier to get the right package style (TO-220). You are correct about the case, it can be considered a third pin when compared to a TO-220 regulator. A datasheet can be found at: http://www.national.com/pf/LM/LM7805C.html Have fun! SmashTV
  21. Nat, take a look at the datasheet for these (on the mouser site). It shows them as detented. I don't know which is right, the catalog or the datasheet, so if anyone knows, please speak up! :D Smash
  22. I'm using 9 volt AC, 500ma wall-wart style transformers on my stuff (except the MF module, That one is a bit larger). Seems to work fine, one of my proto core boards has been running over a month now with a 9vac on it. BTW: A lot of these manufacturers use wall warts so that they can skip a lot of the UL listing requirements. UL testing/listing/compliance is very expensive, so many manufacturers use a UL listed transformer so the whole device does not have to be in compliance. Have fun! SmashTV
  23. Heya Sephult!I have to say the quality on these is perfect, but I need to wait for a report from those who have already ordered. I'm shipping quite a few today, so if you ask again in a week you will get a non-biased answer. ;) Also many thanks to everyone for the thumbs up reviews of my little MB site, You guys have made my week (and it's only Tuesday!) ;) Have fun! Smash
  24. Well, there is one on my site for the new core layout, but not for the original core board layout. The only difference should be lead spacing on the capacitors, so compare my list to the board you have to determine what you need. The part lists on my site list the lead spacing of the caps used on the new layouts, so it should not be an issue. You can also bend the leads on the caps from the new order lists to fit the old board without issue. Have fun! Smash
  25. Really just the smaller capacitors, which usually is not an issue. Some of the caps in the Euro list that have 2mm lead spacing were changed to 5mm so I could run traces between the pins. The US order lists show the lead spacing that fits the US board(s), so you can compare that to what you have. I have built a few of the boards just using caps I have in stock here, and bending the pins out an extra 3mm to fit was no problem. Have fun! Smash
