  1. Sounds like you should go see SmashTV's page about the his core module layout: http://avi.dezines.com/mbhp/mbhp_coreR3.html ...it's a bit different from the one seen on ucapps.de. Sorry for using such a confusing description.. it's a, hmm.. a wirelink? (Please folks, what should those REALLY be called?!).. But anyway, in the pics on Smash's site, those are red in colour and/or painted with a white dashed line on top of the (actual) pcb. Bye, Moebius
  2. Hi, Could this be an OPEN? ;) There's one jumper (or airwire, if you prefer that word) in SmashTV's layout, about in the middle of the board on the leftside, while looking from above - basicly feeding Vdd connection to the pins you mentioned not having +5v.. Are you sure it's in place? Bye, Moebius
  3. Ooops.. Direct links don't work.. But beautiful, just beautiful. Just like waitin' for midification... ::) Bye, Moebius
  4. Ah, Thank you for clearing this up. 8) Fortunately there are still some cool leds out of the UVa range.. and eyes to see 'em! Bye, Moebius
  5. Hi, That's strange - page opens allright at least for me.. And the order is still in a planning phase.. Bye, Moebius
  6. Hi ;) But might not work for long. Don't do it! It's not the voltage, but the current, why those resistors are there in the first place. Hmm.. I'm not sure if so called UV-leds really have such a wavelength, that would be dangerous for your eyes. I doubt that. Please - use individual resistors for each led. See: http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/components/led.htm There is no problem in using current limiting resistor on either side of the led. But one per LED, please ;) Bye, Moebius
  7. Ah, No probs.. I'll PM you.. Bye, Moebius
  8. VCAs do change the sound.. but much less that your filter does! ;D I wouldn't be too worried. While only customers have access to Oakley schematics, the guy has also released some to the public. And as the "Super Ladder Filter" probably has more or less same design as Filtrex-1 and has voltage controlled resonance, it's probably the best source of information for this modification: http://www.physicsenterprises.andrews.edu/diy_archive/schematics/oakley/super.html In the super.gif - circuits around U11 (the CV input processing and OTA current source) and U6 & U7 (OTAs used as VCAs) are used for CV resonance.. - more or less replacing the resonance pot. See if you can find enough similarities in the circuits to use this method.. Bye, Moebius
  9. Hi, There was a recent discussion about some cheap soldering irons (and the same place sells also a digitally controlled one): http://69.56.171.55/~midibox/forum/index.php?topic=3907.0 Ah, the scopes. The damn things are not only expensive, but the weight and the shipping--- maybe ebay just is the best bet.. (IF you can't find some "Scope Specialists" store nearby, that does refurbishing for the scopes and sells the older models with reasonable prices..) DMM's - No idea. It's a sort of specs vs. value-for-money thing. Bye, Moebius
  10. Media Vision Pro Audio Spectrum 16, code: FCC ID:IXW-PAS16LL
  11. ;) Yup yup. Hmm.. with some coding effort, probably yeah.. (Would this then involve counters for each DOUT pulse duration..?!) Bye, Moebius
  12. I have to admit I admire PAiA designs too, they did what they could with the technology they had within the reach. (8031's, eproms, cheap 8-bit dacs.. and hey, they have all design documents online so we can build them DIY if we like, but PAiA is also still selling kits, so they probably don't their stuff to be "cloned" and released in public) and you're doing just fine for an old analog guy from the 70's ;) No, this is planned to be a better "all around" AOUT solution, than some specialized DAC chips.. Bye, Moebius
  13. Hey, It also says "see note (3)" - you'll need to use an AC supply with a 1Amp current rating if you're also going to power core from this solution. Yup, or anything in between 1N4001-1N4007 series. Well - I don't want to lie to you, it's probably not. But let me stress this: it's a SAFE solution. There are no lethal voltages inside the box while using this method. For a safe alternative - you can always check if you can find a bipolar powersupply in an isolated box.. something with +/-12VDC, 1Amp output. I think that at least in the US these are quite a common and you can find them pretty cheaply on ebay. I hope my answers satisfies you - you can always ask for another opinion. Bye, Moebius
  14. It seems to go unnoticed, that the Front Panel Designer uses "standard" shx CAD fonts - although the most fonts found from the Internet simply crash the software after being installed. :P It would be interesting to know, if these working 3rd party fonts can be used in the layout made to be manufactured by the Schaeffer (instead of just using the image and the lazertran or something). The online documentation doesn't say anything about this. Bye, Moebius
  15. Yeah, the drum circuits are usually triggered by the pulse.. although the pulse duration can vary between the designs. Also some old "drumbrains", which are originally designed to be triggered from the pads are also sensitive to the pulse level. Bye, Moebius p.s. No wonder DR-55's sequencer sucks, it's simply a RAM chip driven by some glue logic for writing patterns and all the drum circuits (but HH's) are driven straight from the data out pins.. :o
  16. Hmm-- If you're in same page where you can download "PDF Catalog", go to "Details" instead, and there, well if there are multiple products, click on the product name you have. Then MAYBE you can find out where and what the terminals are.. (try "Mounting Hole Details" and maybe "Caution") Bye, Moebius
  17. Hi, Actually, SIP/DIP r2r ladders do exist - at least the Bourns has 'em.. the ones I've looked at had only 2% resistor matching ;) Now, let me get this straight - PAiA way of An 8-bit dac, followed by a CMOS mux, followed by S&H/CV-buffers is a simple and elegant design? Well, it works and it's definitely a cheap one, but elegant? Bye, Moebius
  18. Hi, Go to http://www.alps.com and see if you can find those faders/pots from their Product Catalog. Those pdf's they have online aren't really that helpful, but the details web pages should have all the information needed, although in a bit difficult to understand form.. Bye, Moebius
  19. Why can't you just use RCAs? Would you mind if MB_FM had a balanced output with a specified transformer? XLR? Just wire it. Hmm.. It's just perfect - really. (You can add more caps. on the either side of the regulators) This schematic is the only way to make sure that any MidiBoxer don't get killed. We don't want that. This is just a normal way to mark "so-called" power supply bypass capacitor. These are connected to any IC pins, they're supposed to bypass. Please - Â See the board layout instead. Bye, Moebius
  20. Please explain? Some userspace proggie does some silly things? And brings the whole system down? Dedicated hardware or not - Why not try an embedded linux? bye, Moebius You know - it fits in the modern motherboards BIOS flash :)
  21. Don't believe you. Bye, Moebius
  22. No, you're doing just fine ;) Routing memory busses on one-sided board is just pain-in-the-You know where. Airwires on any "more complex" designs are unevitable. Double-sided boards ARE doable from a DIY point of view - it just takes more patience and skills.. alignment between two sides must match really well. But routing a double-sided board is just so much easier task. Pheww-- any volunteers? Bye, Moebius
  23. Hmm, I think Thorstens going to answer this one. All I can do is to point you to see MBHP_LCD and MIOS download page at http://www.ucapps.de - there are custom LCD drivers at the download section - I hope these provide you some good material for starting your project ;) Bye, Moebius
  24. Hi, From what I have understood - MB switches can have a toggle action, but that's done on software. Just as you said: "As opposed to.." Experiences anyone? Moebius
  25. Hi. Well, it's been 3 weeks already - and NO REASON to complain! :D It's been perfect! Thanks, TK and especially Twin-X! Bye. Moebius p.s. Yeah, and I know - me lurking on the forum isn't that healthy anyway ;) -- Of course, there are some minor migration problems from Yabb to SMF (more or less posts shown as duplicates in the content from the old board - and broken links to old yabb messages) - is anyone confident enough in SQL, so these could be taken out?
