So, no bulk order benefits? Nice, just nice! Moebius -

Hi, One thing I have never figured out is - howcome these SRAM chips have Address and Data lines separated? No alternatives? And is the latch really needed? Really? Bye, Moebius -
Hi, As the data to MBSID is sent as a MIDI data - Could this be a problem with the sidplay? Really? Should you ask about it in the sidplay forums?! Maybe there is more "case studies"? -- So - Your MBSID is up and running, congratulations! Bye, Moebius

Hi Roger, actually ;) Talking about those shipping prices... Do you have a really bad post office pricing over there in Switcherland? And Alps.de is probably, er.. in Germany? Just thinking - couldn't you hand over this to some german, if there's somebody interested? Maybe only for payment collecting and delivery? Bye, Moebius -
Hi, MBSEQ can't do stuff like this - And Roger is right, buying an old midi player is probably the cheapest and easiest way to go.. --- BUT - robinfawell has shown a GREAT DIY spirit, more or less learning ASM for creating his very own dedicated controller. He's working on piece of software that dumps Sysex strings from the bankstick - I'd guess, when he gets it working, he will share his code. See: http://69.56.171.55/~midibox/forum/index.php?topic=2984.msg19329#msg19329 Bye, Moebius

Re download of DIN board V2 pcb (pdf )
moebius replied to squid's topic in MIDIbox Documentation Project
Hi, What do you mean exactly? Bye, Moebius -
Hi, Well.. I hope you connected the LTC to the serial port, afterall ;) You'll need a serial midi driver installed in your computer to make it work. See: http://www.ucapps.de/midibox_to_com.html for the choices available.. some drivers seem to work better than others, in some systems. Also remember, that your PICs bootstrap loader has to be burned with PIC ID header, that has MIDIbox-to-COM interface enabled. See the Bootstrap Loader page for the information. (This is mostly for the MIOS/Application downloads - the most applications support changing between MIDI/COM baudrate from the configuration menu) Bye, Moebius

;P I don't believe so - Can you even have a quote for 8 motorfaders -Â From Finland? If Germany is better, for the costs, just pass that order to somebody that is willing to take the stress. "..Err, ME? Ok. If you "maybe" want some Motorfaders from ALPs.. just send your money to me".. NO? ;=) -- For US EUROPEANS - if the shipping is the problem, well - MY postal service will take care of that small packages - no problem. Bye, Moebius/ Samppa -
Welcome, please make yourself comfortable here... Mixing encoders and pots is possible. I can't give you any tips how to do this - "!Forum Gurus, please show up?!?!" You mean normal pots? No, what so ever -> If the fader is 10KOhm linear one. Yes. And a quite a bit ;) (Please, prove me wrong with some .ASM :D) By learning the PIC assembly for a 18F452?!? The most simple configuration problems (pots+encs - I think somebody asked about it and the application to modify was MB64E with simple modification to support analog pots..) should be resolved here?! I'd guess, there's no thing like Reason, in Comp.music..damn, version 3 is out.. Well. For controlling reason, you should search for CC mappings.. BYe--Mobius, Just flipping on some HArdFloor...... . . . .

Supplying negative voltage to LCD backlight
moebius replied to SounDuke's topic in Testing/Troubleshooting
Oh no, nono-no. If this IS really about backlight (not about display contast Or V0). The backlight is completely separated from the other circuits, it only needs one side (Anode) to be connected to "more positive" voltage than the other (Cathode) - BL only cares about voltage potential between it's inputs.. BYe, Moebius -
Hi, I see no problem using that. Bye, Moebius

motorised faders on ebay (only 70mm travel though) 10 of them
moebius replied to Steven_C's topic in Parts Archive
Anyone in Australia? ;D -
You're making a good progress! (I'm not.. :'() You underestimated how much current that PS CAN supply. Regulators are getting hot, because they have to spend "excess" voltage from input somehow, so they dissapate it as a heat. LM3*7's are more that a step above typical LM78**/79** regulators. Those are designed to supply more that 1,5Amps, and maybe in your PS with big heatsinks and not too big input voltage it's more than 2Amps ;) Bye, Moebius
-
Oh, I forgot that your're in SDIYing business.. ;D Quite nice PS, it will power your SIDs with no problem.. (I guess you have underestimated the output current on purpose?!) If the regulators are getting hot, just heatsink 'em. See: http://69.56.171.55/~midibox/forum/index.php?topic=4074.msg26593#msg26593 for TK's (or originally KDs) suggestion for on-board bypass caps.. Bye, Moebius
-
It probably doesn't make things worse.. but now I think it's the power rails. I'd start by adding few caps between DOUT power traces.. If you have any in hand, you could give that a try. Great ;D Bye, Moebius
-
Hi, It's probably DOUT updates switching bleeding thru to audio output somehow.. To rule out EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) - While MB is running (and your listening to the noise), try moving core and SID boards as far as you can from DOUTs/LEDs and/or change the angle, how these are fitted towards DOUTs/LEDs.. (Sorry. it's hard to explain, but if it's EMI, you should hear noise levels/sound change as boards are moved - This should be easily tested) What kind of Power Supply are you using? A more probable cause is switching transients from DOUT chips making supply rails noisy. This could (?!?) be cured by adding Bypass Caps to DOUTs between the rails as close as possible to 74HC595 supply pins. Bye, Moebius p.s. Hey - Did you find out what was the problem with the encoders?
-
"Trace the tracks, Luke" - Core Schematics and Boards don't match around "Luminance" trimmer, which doesn't effect the normal functionality. (and the schematics are "correct" from the EE point of view as if trimmer wiper should lose it's contact to track, it should reset to maximum resistance.. yakety-yak) So, your measurements are OK - If you have moved the trimmer, you would have seen resistance go from approx. 10k <-> 20k. What if you tried powering core with no PIC or LCD connected and measured voltage between J16 B+ and B- pins and then moved the trimmer and measured again? Bye, Moebius
-
That was quite a datasheet ;) This is a better one: http://www.dst-gmbh.de/dvkat/dv20210.htm It seems like pretty typical LCD with normal LCD contrast (LCD drive, Vee) voltage, so it should be ok.. as always, try to get the connection right in the first try ;D Bye, Moebius
-
Hi, No need to plug PIC in the place to get backlight working - just watch that you connect it the right way. Rotate P1 (or "Luminance") trimmer on core board to adjust backlight brightness. Bye, Moebius
-
Hi, Even if voltage doesn't drop with more load on PSU - I'd say 5,35 is still ok for powering Midibox: PIC is rated for MAX 5,5v and HC logic for MAX 6V supply voltages. I hope that PS bypass cap helps to fight ripple issues.. Bye, Moebius
-
Not me - I just recycled information in one post. But suggestions: I've got this funny feeling - I know, You know Voti's encoders pinout, but are you sure you connected the Bourns one the right way? Bye, Moebius
