  1. Hi, Does anyone have the latest >FREE edition of the AudioTextbook.pdf (ie. 2004 08 02 (free version)) from http://www.tonmeister.ca? I'd love to have a copy :P Bye, Moebius
  2. HI, As annoying as that sound is.. it's the part of the deal, so called SID bug: http://69.56.171.55/~midibox/forum/index.php?topic=2476.msg16394#msg16394 Bye, Moebius
  3. Excellent! Respect!!
  4. But that's ok. It's only if midi devices use pins that are not supposed to be connected, where the troubles starts.. And I have to take all back that "professionally engineered..." stuff. I re-run tests and everything pro passed - But the worst noise maker (dirties (switcher) powersupply) in my studio: the computer. It has ground connection on the middle pin on both, midi in / out ports. ::) I could do with some isolation transformers myself :P Isolation transformer: A device used to create galvanic isolation between two circuits - 1:1 ratio :D or it's transformer that passes AC signals thru (without metal to metal contact) between the circuits. I think nobody makes sense of that - but as Smash is more knowledgeable about this stuff, I guess he'll try to explain it in better words ;) Bye, Moebius
  5. Oh, sorry.. my bad ;) (Now I notice that both of your ebay links are to french version.. :P I just look at the specs!) Yeah - huge price difference. Sadly, those are the cheapest diffused blue leds I have succeed to find :( Actually - I think that "tamed" ultra bright leds could fit cool chrome casing extremely well, even better than normal ones - those leds are pretty good looking, if you use big enough current limiting resistor ;) Bye, Moebius
  6. Hi, I assume your German, right.. well, I can't speak german, but http://www.reichelt.de/ seems pretty cheap: 0,50€ a piece, search for "Standard-LED, 3mm, blau".. Bye, Moebius p.s. Oh - I told ya, that blue leds are more expensive than "normal" ones :P
  7. Yeah ;) It's not quite that simple - These COOL(?) (I love 'em) blue leds always seem to cost about 5 times more than "normal" coloured leds. And the ebay deals are really good, but sellers mostly offer these "trendy" ultrabright ones.. But if anyone knows where to buy blue 3mm diffused leds cheaply in the eurozone, I'm interested! BYe, Moebius
  8. You've probably has got it mixed-up: V/Oct. stuff is called exponential - V/Hz linear.. blaa blaa: here's the link: http://www.synthmuseum.com/magazine/linexpo.html ----- So, you have linear, V/Hz oscillators? If I understand what you're trying to do here: note lookup table + octave switching using J5 you're on correct track ;) (I first thought of doing the whole thing just by using lookup table for all notes.) So, don't give up! (Your efforts are needed - I'm too lazy and lacking any V/Hz synths..) Bye, Moebius
  9. Hi, Remember that 6851s S/N is around 65dB, wasn't it?! That said, Smash is referring to the practice of "ground lifting". This means cutting or otherwise disabling ground contact from one side of the signal cable (SID audio out in this case). It's an easy check for the ground loops. Basicly AC wallwart should not create these problems.. but maybe midi cabling? (Some professionally engineered :P commercial gear don't follow the midi specification) Bye, Moebius
  10. Hi, Frank! Don't be so shy ;) I see no problem with your english if you don't see problem with mine :P So, join the discussion and feel free to ask questions - everybody was a beginner once! Bye, Moebius
  11. Hi, I'd say those are OK. (If only 22 degrees wide beam isn't a problem). But any of these "water clear lens - ultra bright" leds are, you guess'd it, BRIGHT :P I recommend testing those out with different current limiting resistors to find out what suits your needs. Don't be surprized if you need several KOhms to bring down the brightness. Bye, Moebius
  12. Hi peeps ;) YEaahh.. I've been working on MOD/add-on board layout ;) (2nd 12db/Oct filter + BP filter mod, (Roland style: SH-101) Sub oct, Gate controlled Slide.. Switches to select A(S)R and ADSR re-trigger on legato notes ect... ;)) IF your thinking of adding Scott Gravenhorst's input mod - that seems ok. The only thing to care about is, do you want to hear Fatmans OSCs together with external input. Then you can control both on same midi channel, or use different channels for some nice/strange gating effects.. :D Bye, Moebius p.s. True, so true. I thought about designing my own boards with modifications already on-board and with some new flash based Atmel *51.. but thanks to Illogik and SmashTV, I got those boards.. er cheap enough.
  13. Please, Post this to "JDM troubles" thread ;) BYe, Moebius
  14. Sorry, Can't confirm, but that's how 4*20 HD44780 displays are supposed to do. :D BYe, Moebius
  15. Soldered PIEZOs? If those had wires coming out, your ok.. But if you had to solder wires to the disc - man, you're a guru already :D Read some more and get your boards and start soldering ;=) I'd rather see you with a C64 PSU fitted inside your box. Really. This is the place, where you are allowed to play chicken!! MAINs can kill you. Please - Don't use unshielded mains transformer inside your MB, if you're not entitled to do so. I'm not. Bye, ya - Moebius
  16. Shift registers, eh? Should have guessed ;D Actully, this is a very smart move. A generic solution for parallel DACs, that really doesn't "break" anything, just gives us more choices and easier expandability - remembering that one of the MAX525s real advantages is daisy chaining. The most other serial dacs don't have serial outputs and would need some (unnecessarily complex) glue logic for that. Bye, Moebius
  17. Err.. Don't know, If gmail is blacklisted.. but it handles spam pretty good ;) (only about 4 misses ("ok" mail delivered to spam folder, with a inbox of 2200+ messages)) So if YOU don't care about google corp. having a peek at your mail for serving ads.. and could do with 1GB space.. I've got 50 invitations left ;) Bye, Moebius p.s. PM me if interested :)
  18. Hmm.. I'd say that's just their "salestalk" to justify 20 euros per SID. Don't know about any C64 testing software, but it really could exist. Calling C64 freaks!? If you know, how SID should sound and it's still in the C64.. I'd say that game music is the best way to test it out :P Bye, Moebius
  19. No, But something like: "midiboxin' is fun, WHEN it's working".. at that point, you seemed to doubt that it will EVER work ;) And now everything is just ok ;D Bye, MoebiusÂ
  20. How long it takes to "midi flood" to start? (I'm thinking of midibox boot process here) What should your PIC contain? Bootstrap loader? (+MIOS?) (+MIOS & Application? (SID application?)) Did you actually _fully_ erase PIC before burning bootstrap loader again? --- I'd say, that shorting XTAL caps to ground or touching pins around there causes PIC to reset. Then it seems to start normal boot process ("the correct message"). "Random" midi flood is known to be caused by "not properly" terminated input pins.. with SID application that would probably mean R9 missing (or not properly connected) from core board. --- If you're thinking that XTAL/caps are causing the trouble, try reflowing solder joints connected caps, crystal and pic pins where crystal is connected. ..Bye, Moebius
  21. d2k told ya! ;) (everybody, join #midibox@EFnet) I'm glad you got it working ;D Because TK doesn't use revision numbers in pdf files? ;) No, actually this pops up from time to time. Everybody just should take care downloading the latest document versions and seeing the notes before starting the actual building process.. (not gonna happen :D) Have fun, Moebius
  22. Yeah.. I'd guess, that you KNOW the feel tactile switches have.. VCRs, CD-players.. you can find 'em almost everywhere with different buttons caps.. so if it moves just a little when pressed and "clicks", you can be pretty sure. Normally open, contact closes when pressed. Bye, Moebius

    MIDIbox FM V1.0

Demos leave me speechless.. Incredible stuff, Thorsten!! Moebius
  24. Ah, I didn't even know that there were.. err, two generations of C64C's (newer like the thing anyway ;) Heh, Moebius
