Yes, that is really great solution. :) Gotta check V2 more deeply. I`m V1 user. Thank you Thorsten!

Yes, I`ve heard about vX sequencer, and I thought you quit with it. I`m glad that you decided to de-evolute the idea and make it happen with new MIOS. It sounds promising. :) Thanks for the details.

Search don`t give me any results for modular seq, nor I find some info in your wiki page so I suppose that is some secret project of yours. :P Will you bee so kind to tell us more about it? Have you already got some results with LFO sequencing? If you did please give us some info. Is there a way to integrate the piece of your your modular seq to the current MB and have something like this LFO seq?

I find out about this cool project of Eric Carter over flickr. It is LFO sequencer that can be very useful for dubstep, DnB style of music. I immediately thought it would be best to employ MB for similar thing. Hopefully it could be easy to do it with MB so it receives MIDI clock and output CC with predefined frequency (1/2, 1/4 note...) and wave shape that is stored in memory for each preset? It could have very simple hardware with just buttons to directly access the LFO presets. I`m out of programming but it might inspired some of you programmers to do it. I believe it could be simple to do the software based on the provided skeletons of maybe to modify clockbox. What do you think? Here are some samples from Eric`s website: http://ericarcher.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/synclfo-1-9-16-08.mp3 http://ericarcher.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/synclfo-2-9-16-08.mp3 http://ericarcher.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/synclfo-3-9-16-08.mp3 And, link to the page: http://ericarcher.net/devices/another-box-o-techno/ Check out his other cool projects.

Superb demo! :)

NP Steve. I have alot projects I have started long time ago, that I didn`t touched for ages. I changed my building priorities often. :P If I don`t finish the project as soon as possible I get intersted with another. Good I have all the parts to finish x0xb0x. I build 2 for myself and 2 for other guy from the local batch. Anyway, I hope at least somebody will test the chips soon. MBFM can be build very quickly. I say I could have finished in nice enclosure over weekend.

Sasha replied to Artesia's topic in Parts Archive
Cool chips. Too bad about those bad ordering conditions. But eventually somebody should offer it in small quantity. -
That is why I get interested in it. It don`t believe the sound quality is good enough for some serious sampling but still pretty cool to play with it. Dirty sounds, especially when run trough some effects can be really useful.

Check out this cool shield for arduino... :) The Voice Shieldâ„¢ (VS) is an analog audio shield for the Arduino that allows you to play audio sound bytes. It could be used in many different Arduino projects, such as; a talking clock, DIY Arduino talking GPS, robots, alarms, motion based sound effects etc ... It uses a unique, yet very user friendly, way to access different sound bytes so it is easy to build a "talking" device. It can work with words, complete sentences, or sound effects. With the VS your Arduino can also build phrases "on the fly" that sound a little like an automated telephone operator, for example; "you" "entered" "one" "two" "three" "press" "pound" "if" "that" "is" "correct". Controlling Ableton: APC40, Max for Live - what do you think?
Sasha replied to Melonenmonster's topic in MIDIbox HUIs
I agree. Even MB is non-commercial community, MB is not concentrated only around free stuff. I`m sure most of MB hardware is used in conjunction with commercial software and hardware. I think it would be cool to have access to the protocol MFL uses, but if this not happen, which is likely, ultra is already doing great job without it. Thanks ultra. ;) @Ralf Glad you are back. You are welcome here! ;) What you did with LED matrix for Monodeck II is very cool and it is my ultimate goal for controlling Live. I saw Robert`s presentation of Monodeck II at DisPatch festival here in Belgrade, and from that moment I want it even more. -
I remember you already told me about those MECs. What was with that batch? I get silent MECs are not widely available. Anyway, I don`t have any source of MECs. I just got few samples directly from manufacturer. I was in a local electronic shop today and I decided not to use DS-661. They are too expensive for me. I will rather laser myself good old illuminated ones. Well, not completely silent and not HQ but at least they look good.

Thanks moogah. This button arrangement I repeated from my version of MB-808. I think it is clean looking and ergonomic. I just add those 8 utility buttons. About buttons.. I can recommend those. I would never buy full set of buttons that I never tried. Even some that are known by good quality don`t mean they fits the job. Like those MEC... Even they look good and have great specs I would never use it for any project. I should say... one push worth thousands words and diagrams. ;)

TheRainbow - Midibox and RGB Led Keyboard
Sasha replied to julienvoirin's topic in MIDIbox User Projects
Chop shop MIDI? :) To say something unoriginal... Inspiration is all around us. :P I would lie if I say I get struck of inspiration by looking at birds and flowers. :) But, there is a lot of well designed technical stuff that are inspiring to me. -
This all sounds fine to me. 64 drum tracks would be really unnecessary.

TheRainbow - Midibox and RGB Led Keyboard
Sasha replied to julienvoirin's topic in MIDIbox User Projects
I don`t understand. What`s the reason for angry? You are not competing nor developing commercial project and some industry spy stole your work. Just make your box as best as you could and enjoy it. :) Monome guys could say for your project the same... oh, that is actually monome. In this case Ableton Live was starting point and inspiration to you and Akai`s designers, so it is necessarily similar. Remember Monodeck II? Clip lunching with RGB LED feedback is nothing new. It happens to any creative person so see somebody else did or doing same thing as he does and lately with all this technology available to small people, it happens more often than ever. Same thing happens to me all the time. It don`t feel good, as you feel your work isn`t that unique but that`s the way it is and you just accept it. So, forget about it and concentrate on your work, and make yourself the box the way you like it only for yourself. Nobody will have "The Rainbow", just you. Isn`t that cool enough? -
group buy for ultracore (core + 4x IIC + 8 banksticks)
Sasha replied to ultra's topic in Bulk Orders
I don`t believe you could etch this one by yourself. -
I did some changes to the PCB. Now 2 types of GP buttons can be used. Standard 12x 12 and DS-661 (http://www.mouser.com/catalog/specsheets/MS-100226.pdf) KokiPsiho used on his Krang sequencer. I also added LEDs to the function buttons even I won`t use it. Bigger picture:

While looking at fairly simple cymbal circuit of tr 909 clone I got an idea of building few rompler modules with various percussion samples. It could be a cool extension to MB808 project. I started to search for some info about 27C256 EPROM and how to convert audio to hex so it can be burned into chip. So, I stumbled upon very interesting project by Sebastian Tomczak. He already did some diy rompler. In his A True Rompler 1 he was playing an loop, and in version 2 he burned 8 note loop and he can play the individual parts of the that loop which is much better than I thought it could be done. What I was expecting is 1 EPROM 1 sample. Here are his page and videos: A True Rompler 1: http://little-scale.blogspot.com/2008/11/true-rompler-1-raw-digital-audio.html A True Rompler 2: http://little-scale.blogspot.com/2008/11/true-rompler-2-drum-machine.html

Good. Than, I`m ready to go. :) I wish all issues are like this one. :) As you said... I would probably never notice it. Thanks for an answer mate. ;)

Cool. Thank you Thorsten.

I am making standalone sequencer for external drum machine and have one question... does Accent track works only with MB808 or it affects Velocity of notes sent at MIDI out.

Can I just add these entries and assign the pins in the SEQ_IO_TABLE_DIN and I`ll have direct access to the Utility sub-menu functions? SEQ_IO_TABLE_DIN ;; Function name SR# Pin# ;; NOTE: the pins of the 16 general purpose buttons are assigned above, search for DEFAULT_GP_DIN_SR_L (and _R) DIN_ENTRY CS_M_UTILS_CopyTrack, 7, 0 DIN_ENTRY CS_M_UTILS_PasteTrack, 7, 1 DIN_ENTRY CS_M_UTILS_ClearTrack, 7, 2 DIN_ENTRY CS_M_UTILS_CopySteps, 7, 3 DIN_ENTRY CS_M_UTILS_PasteSteps, 7, 4 DIN_ENTRY CS_M_UTILS_ClearSteps, 7, 5 DIN_ENTRY CS_M_UTILS_ClearPattern, 7, 6 DIN_ENTRY CS_M_UTILS_Undo, 7, 7

Well, he don`t have to hack MIOS. You can buy LCDs that supports cyrilic...
