I didn't mean competition, I was only trying to suggest that my project is completely different. The aim of my post was not to announce the project yet, but to get peoples opinions about the success of the community and project etc.

I am fairly new here, have been lurking for a while and have spent many hours going through lots of posts. In a few weeks I will be launching a project that has a similair ethos to the midibox community. I have created a controller interface that anyone can essentially build and I want to build a website that will facilitate creativity with this platform, not only in the way it is made, but in how performers use it and artists develop for it. I admire the open diy approach of this community. I also like that it is a community of people who, like the open source movement, are contributing their time and knowledge for the better good of the project and community. My project aims are similair to midibox, but as an alternative, not a competing project. My project is more related to this thread. More information in a few weeks on the website will make sense, but in the mean time does anyone have any thoughts on the success of diy homebrew controller/interface projects, building and sustaining an open source community etc.
