  1. I'm using a core and sid from smash tv with an original c64 psu. i have 5v going to the core and 9v going to the sid. i tested IC1 on the core it has about 4.25V at: mclr(1)-Vss(12) Vdd(11)-Vss(12) Vdd(32)-Vss(31) IC2:8-IC2:5 i wanted to trouble shoot the midi in, so i hooked up a 220 resistor and diode to IC1:Vss(31)-IC1:RX(26), but it just stays lit continously??? any suggestions?
  2. here's my situation: - i was able to upload mios - then my midibox stopped working - i didn't know if my pic was bad or if i somehow fried my core, so i got a new core and put it together - i don't remember which is the old pic and which is the new pic - with one of the pics i get no midiout - with the other pic i get this: what is this? can someone please help me troubleshoot?
  3. When I run this check: Connect a LED to your MIDI Out port and check if it flickers: mbhp_core_extract_out_led.gif I get no flickering. Should there be any voltage at J13? I got 4.92Vdc at the midi out port, but no voltage at the midi in port. When I test the voltage at PIC1 IX (25) there is only 4.32Vdc and at the actual midi out port there is only 4.92Vdc.
  4. When I first turn on my Midibox, should a midi message be recieved by MIOS Studio and seen in this box? Because I'm not getting anything and I know I got my midi configured correctly. I'm using an emagic amt8.
  5. O.K., I see. So the Midibox always send a MIOS request message the first two seconds its powered on. Well my Midibox sent one MIOS request message once, and only once. Its not sending anymore when i power it on. So i went through the check steps here: http://www.ucapps.de/howto_debug_midi.html When I checked the ground on the core circuit there is no voltage at PIC1 OSC1 or OSC2? Is my 10mhz processor dead? I have the positive lead at the positive J1 pin and the negative lead on either OSC1 or OSC2 and nothing. Then I put the positive lead on PIC1 MCLR and the negative lead on either OSC1 or OSC2, still nothing. Shouldn't there be voltage there? All my other voltage checks out O.K. My midibox sent one request message and now it seems dead?
  6. Well, I went ahead and tried to upload MIOS. But I think I might have fudged it a little. When I first did it I followed the direction on ucapps.de and my Midibox sent a request message to MIOS Studio, then MIOS Studio sent the first packet of information, but nothing happened after that so I stop the upload process. I tried to do it a second time, but then my Midibox didn't send a request message. What do I do? Please help. How can I get the Midibox to send a request message again???
  7. O.K. I actually finished building my Midibox SID. Its just 1 Core and 1 SID. I have bootstrap burned on the pic. Now what do I do next? Do I use MIOS Studio to burn the MIOS on the PIC via MIDI? Once the MIOS is burned do I do anything else? Or is my Midibox ready to go?
  8. Your right on the money. I connected a jumper between the Cap ground and the bridge rectifer ground, it fixed it. Now I have 12V at IC1!
  9. Hello, I think I may have a bad Cap on my SID module, but i'm not for sure. I'm building the SID module kit from Smash TV's shop. I tested the voltage going in and coming out of the bridge rectifier and they are both 15Vdc. At the very first Cap(.33uF) the voltage totally dies or is only like .05Vdc. Does this mean the Cap is bad? I'm totally new to electronics. There is no voltage at all at IC1? Thanks in advance for your help. Tom
  10. 2 switches inside one switch!!! Awsome! What will the come up with next. ;D Thanks for the help, I should be able to get this thing powered.
  11. Hello there, I'm a newbie to midibox. I've been looking at all types of documentation trying to understand how to power 1 MBHP Core & 1 SID. I'm trying to do just the very basic setup to learn a bit. The way I understand it is, I can take 5Vdc from the C64 PSU to J1 on the Core and 12Vac from the C64 PSU to J1 of the SID and both circuits will be powered? Do I have to connect power to anywhere else? I was looking at the schmetic of "how to connect a C64 PSU to the Core and SID" and I just got confused with all the different power connections. The schmetic shows two switches, can I just use 1 switch? Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.
